I have fond memories of this mall in the 80's. I'm pretty sure I saw E.T. there when it came out,

My childhood in the 1980s had many moments in this mall. I saw the Return of the Jedi on day one in this mall. Columbus and time have changed, not for the better.

Eastland Mall used to be a mall I went to to get my school clothes and whatnot. It was huge but last time I went there, it was run down, the bigger stores were all moving and it was overcrowded by small businesses and badly made "official" merch.
    Do I miss it?
Yea, I mainly miss the little kiddy area that had a tree that was PERFECT for naps(because I'm tiny) that got shut down because a kid fell off of it and broke his arm.

I was a kid in the 90s when I visited and it was still a busy ass mall even in the early 2000s!

Subscribed! I remember walking around Eastland mall for hours with friends. Thank you for the nostalgia! Can I use some of these clips for a documentary?

Lets be frank here, the mall was in a high crime area in the 1990's on, not safe to shop and lots of stolen merchandise which also helped the mall go out. Many people loved Eastland and would have continued shopping there however you just were not safe. Now guess who was causing most of the crime? We who live and shop in the area sure know and not going to Eastland had little to do with Easton and Polaris.

I grew up going to Eastland during the 80s and 90s and I definitely think Easton played a part. IMO

I wonder what’s next for this area? There is still no mall shopping at all for people on the east, south or west sides of Columbus. Only 2 malls left are in the northeast part of town.
Strangely enough, there is still a crop field behind Eastland off of Groves Rd last time I checked!

There was a Southland Mall, it was much smaller though, In the last couple of years Southland Mall was turned into the administrative offices for Columbus City Schools.

There was a Southland Mall. The former mall still stands but it’s part of Columbus City Schools now. Southland wasn’t a very big mall like Northland Eastland and Westland.

It’s also worth noting that Southland mall was made by a completely different company, and had nothing to do with the other 3. Jacobs’s vision of Southland mall never came to be

The southern part of Columbus was relatively poor and not as populated as other parts of Columbus, so I'll guess that's why there wasn't a Southland Mall on the scale of the other three directional malls in town. Plus, Eastland was in the southeast corner of Columbus, so it was just as easy to get to from either the eastern or southern parts of town.

Cool! I like how Polaris was named to be north of Northland. Malls used to be much more fun before the Internet made shopping so much easier. Funnily enough, I don't think I went to the mall very often. One of the malls near me was repurposed into government offices and even a school, IIRC.

Always enjoy your videos.............North, West, East....no South? Just like the ABC trio of bowling allies in Harrisburg PA area; There is no ABC South Lanes. No North Orange NJ, despite a South, East and West. And no West Brunswick NJ, despite North, East, South and New Brunswick......lol

Also, what the Hell was up with those arcade cabinets? Was there some kind of weeaboo arcade before the mall closed?
In a loading dock area there are these junked Japanese 'dating sim' type arcade games. O.O
