Most McDonald's built prior to the 1980's had basements used for storing stock and the employee break room ( which was the first room with the green wallpaper). This is definitely a very old store possibly from the late1960's since the freezer was out in the parking lot.

I grew up in this town and frequented this McDonalds more times than I can count. This whole area is prone to flooding which I believe ultimately led to the relocation. The flooding you’re seeing here has to be from Ida last year. The Play Place transformed a couple different times over the years. It was a big ball pit when I was a kid, then it was a big plastic tunnel jungle gym, then just a picnic area. It’s sad to see it in this condition but I can understand that it had to be abandoned. The major floods have been too numerous over the years. Great video! Thanks for shedding light on this vintage McDonalds.

I managed a McDonald’s location for 2 years, so I can give a bit of insight:
6:37 those plugs used to power the bun toasters as well as the warming table if I remember correctly. You can see those old Ethernet and VGA cables which were used for the grill monitors to show what orders were coming in.
8:31 that board being held up by that chain on your right hand side would have been used for offloading stock from truck order into the walk in downstairs. One of the locations I worked at used their basement for the pop syrups as well as dry storage.

Like something you would see in a horror movie. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if some of these places had some kind of residual energy or paranormal activity there. Sometimes I miss the old McDonald's, so I am always excited when I get to go to one. There are a handful still left in WV, but not many. One of my McDonald's at home got completely rebuilt all the way back in like 2006, making it one of the first post red roof design McDonald's. They ended up remodeling the inside of it again in 2020 or so, so that's now gone. It seems to be getting more and more rare to see older style locations these days. I am always blasted back when I walk in one though.

After building a batch of sandwiches they would go in for like 10 to 30 seconds depending on how many you had. Then they were placed in the sandwich bin until sold or expired. Nobody ever threw out the sandwiches when they expired which is why they got rid of the bin. I remember we would get in trouble if we said the word "microwave".

A lot of the restaurants have self service drink dispensers. The outside had additional seating area for better days.
A lot of those stores like that are being replaced by bigger, facilities.

The end was funny. It reminds me of my old neighborhood MCD. They had a canopy over the play land. I remember the olde4 ladies would clean it in the morning and always smelled like Bleach. They wouldn’t let us in until it dried. Yeah, this will probably be torn down. Thanks for showing the basement but you should carry a N95 regardless.

Out of the three Mcdonalds. The last one was torn down and rebuilt due to the floor started to cave into the basement. From my understanding it was built in 1978. Then the other two was remodeled into a box.
