I might have missed something here but you didn’t roll it flat like Kilmat suggest. Petty sure you won’t get the full benefit of the matting without doing this.

My thoughts exactly. Those rectangle bumps are there to let you know when its rolled all the way flat. use roller till it's smooth!

Weird how he doesnt Test the sound of the same areas, where he hit before install. He hits in differences areas, so the sound-clips dont match. Even if there was a difference or not, he doesnt have an accurate test.

Yeah. He also pulled his punches and still hit it on metal. I've used the kilmat before and I though t did a good job. I also did the entire floor as they expect you to.

I used the 80 mil 36 sq ft box in my girlfriends '89 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer, but I did order a set of rollers. One skinny one for narrow gaps, and a one larger for area compression. I actually applied and cut what I needed for the area's which I knocked on to find the tinny/hallow spots. Some places were really solid thus I did not install it on those places. Keep in mind that these mats are the first noise decoupler, and that carpeting is another material that will absorb some of the noise. Now in my '87 Pioneer, I haven't decide yet but I may acquire some Noico foam insulation as the main noise insulator.

I only did about 50% coverage in my 2015 camaro in back seats and trunk area cuz that was easy and only changes i was making sound system wise anywasy was a powered sub in the back,
BUT in a gutted car this old i wouldve tried 100% coverage or at least 2 of those kits, maybe 3 and do inside the doors roof and trunk to0

I don’t think you should do the whole floor. Sound travels in waves. My thinkings is if you simply replicate the floor with the coverage (full coverage) you will only change the pitch of the sound. You’ll still have the road noise. I plan on doing mine in a random pattern or possibly a checkerboard pattern. I have no idea if it will work well.

It is absolutely because you didn’t do the whole floor. I’ve built a sound studio before and I’ve notice a massive difference when you leave even small spaces or cracks exposed, it will not work correctly, you really need to cover as much as you can and not leave cracks or spaces. Basically if you put tons of sound dampening on a house door it won’t sound much different until you seal or cover any cracks, seams or in your case exposed spots.

whats up bro. been watching all your videos, doing a good job man. Funny enough, i just got myself a 66 Parklane project of my own, and the previous owner already had rear air shocks. I'm going to keep up with your stuff to see how yours turns out.

Sounds like u did it right
It's a deadening material - stop or attenuate vibrations. Outside sounds can be reduced with insulation or cell material that offers repeated "blocks" to noise. Most pros use both. U r right to put it on your metal. 👍 BTW, u don't need a lot. Put some section or two on your doors and, when convenient, on roof , under headliner., back panels. Two 4" x 12" or similar size for 3' spans on your doors. Spaced out evenly. Don't waste by putting near edges - those areas don't vibrate as easily. Think of drums and steal pans. U put your hand on them in diff spots while tapping and u see where best place.
    Have fun!

So I put this in my 2003 Chrysler Sebring coupe V6. I find that engine to be too ricy loud. I covered the whole floor and noticed an improvement. When I pull the dash to have it redone I will be putting in the thicker mat and the hush mat on the fire wall. I will also be doing the doors, trunk and ceiling. I personally like it. I think it does a good job for what you pay.

Dude, what a shitty installation, lol. No wonder your ride still rattles. You are supposed to cover the entire metal, dude. Jesus, lol…

You literally only need to cover about 25% of the surface, look at sound deadening in studios. the deadening effect is not linear.
