So the Canon M6 Mark ii is a bit of a pocket rocket packing some serious features! The Canon M6 mark ii 4k video was the most impressive feature however and even stacking it up against the full-frame 6D Mark ii, it was hard to tell them apart!

What are your thoughts on the Canon M6 Mkii? The 4k video crushes the full-frame 6dmkii!!
I was extremely torn between the M6 Mkii and the Sony a6400. I ended up getting the Sony (it just arrived from UPS an hour ago), and although I know I got a solid camera, I’m kinda still wishing I got the Canon.
I use this with a Small Rig cage, which gives it a much better grip. I like pairing it with the Sigma primes, and after watching your vids, with an 18-35. I have an Eos M50 as well and I was also impressed with the 4K and as a photographer, the AF has improved so much.

@@-xplorenz7002 - I ended up buying both. The Canon menu system and touch screen are far superior, but the video (especially the 4k) on the Sony is better, plus the weather sealing is great too! I'm a fan of both cameras.

Excellent video, I dedicate myself to 3D printing, and my idea is to record my finished pieces on video with a completely black background and with lighting only on the piece (low light conditions). Do you recommend the canon m6 Mark ii for this type of shots? Or do you think there are better options for this type of shot I'm looking for? More than anything to avoid video noise in low light shots

The battery level is clearly visible on every screen you cycled through, not just on the last one with all the exposure info. It's always visible unless you're inside the main menu.

Hey dude! The frames were shot on a neutral profile with a slight grade applied to match the test of the footage :)

For non Pro video that this is a LOW LIGHT Beast!!! Sure you had the 18-35 ( great lens ) but still!! Impressive. Great video mate! As always lots of value!
Yeah man, I was seriously blown away! I wasn't expecting much over 1800 ISO, to be honest! I think because the pixel density is much higher with the 4k video so it helps hide the noise alot better.
Battery level icon is on the first page when you woke the camera, top left. At 7:29. Thanks for the review, just bought it.

Hey dude! Thanks for the feedback. I’ve personally never used the A6600 but heard good things about it. I guess it depends if you prefer Canon or Sony. I’d stick with Canon mainly because I have all canon glass

Nice review. Awesome footage from that camera- and can’t go wrong with the Sigma lens.
Have to say: audio levels of the music need to be looked at. The difference between music and voice is huge (e.g. 6:00 mark).

One more question: that extension you use on the bottom of the camera to put the external mic, which brand is it? (cause I desperately need to buy that piece too...)
This was a ghetto rig from a dual cold shoe extender I had laying around. If you search for a cold shoe mic bracket you’ll find some bits :)

You should do a video about your settings for video in the m6II
I no longer have this camera. But it was all pretty much the standard settings 1/50th or 1/100th shutter, low aperture and low iso to keep the image clean :)

Would this effect your choice for using it for video work ? The 10bit 4:2:2 to external hdmi is a great bonus.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the support! The usual limitations of 29:59 that apply to most "non-video" cameras, is something that you just get used to. If you need a lightweight camera that can shoot 4k, this is a great option!

@@amounifnd I got a few hours out of it before it died while shooting in 4k. Could be better, but it's quite a bit smaller then the usual LP-E6 in full size DSLR's
do you know if the Clean HDMI also outputs audio? Trying to find a way around the missing headphone jack
I don't i'm sorry. But most cameras have an option to output audio via HDMI.

If the tamron is an EF Mount then you need an EF to EF-M adapter

Hey Dennis, Yes that is correct. Clean HDMI feed with no info on it. Which part of the video are you refering to about the m-mount lenses are up to the sensor?

Thanks for the feedback! The eye auto focus works fantastic with adapted EF or EF-M lenses. The only time it struggles is if your subject has glasses. Sometimes it doesn't recognise the face.

Great video, thanks! BTW, I never shoot anything in portrait orientation because you'll loose so much details on the sides and you can always post edit to make a landscape image portrait but not the other way round.

Still such a good small form factor option. If you have the money the Canon R6 is an amazing new camera. But it's much bigger as well.

Is the 120 fps quality really crap? BTW if you combine 60 fps with digital IS wouldn't give that the same sort of smooth b roll footage but better quality because of the higher bitrate?
There is a noticeable drop in quality when shootin gat 100/120fps as the bitrate just isn't high enough. It's not bad, but compared to the 4k you can see a difference.
Absolutely can combine the digital IS with 50/60fps. This is generally how I shoot most of my b-roll. It's only if you really need that super slowmotion look, that you would switch to 100fps.

Brother, Which lens is the best for Vlogging videos in Mark ii
Probably the EF-M 11-22mm as it's nice and wide. Because by the time you account for the 1.6x crop factor it becomes a 17/18mm lens.

Its honestly pretty good for upscaled 2K Video . Canon did a good job with it.
DIdn't know it was upscaled 2k? It's very impressive!
it’s upscaled 3.6k not 2k! Pixel binning: the 16:9 crop is 6960 x 3904, making 2x2 pixels gives 3480 x 1952, which is about 10% off 3840 x 2160. So 3.6k upscaled to 4k.

Hey Rebecca, If you want keep costs low i'd say the 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM.
This will allow you to get a somewhat wide shot but then also zoom in to get detail shots as well :)

Nice work Andrew. Are you absolutely certain the M6 Mark ii has clean HDMI out? I have racking my brains trying to find this out, but it seems that it does not have clean HDMI... your review is the only one that says it does. This is one of my deal breakers, so if you can confirm how you know this, I would greatly appreciate it man! Keep it up
Under the hdmi output menu you can choose whether to output clean or not :)
It is a setting in the menu. Many early reviewers, as is usual, do not read the manual or go through the menus.

I'm not sure if you mention that the 4k is upscaled instead of real 4k. That's the only bummer of this camera.
Nah didn't mention this cause I didn't know when I first reviewed it. Still really good for upsampled
I also don't like that 4k recording is only available under certain conditions. 1st, can't have hdmi out set to clean (even if you're not using it). 2nd, Can't have HDR recording enabled. 3rd, MUST be in movie mode and will only work in movie mode. Alot of restrictions on the 4k. Not happy about that.

Bro.. you have access to different camera. What is your honest take to M6's 4k video out of the cam ? They say it's soft... or most of the reviewers are not impressed.
I think it looks great for a budget camera. It is probably over-sharpened a bit, but for a camera at this price point, I was impressed.

Very well done video I was considering this camera.
The 1080p at 120 looks a little soft. 120 megabits per second is a little bit slow on the 4K. Put in an adapter and putting that beautiful Sigma art lens you put on it it's kind of defeating the purpose because that lens I own that lens the thing weighs a ton is a beautiful piece of glass but that big lens on that little tiny camera is got to be crazy.
There's basically no lens for this for this camera there's very few Canon lenses even available so it has a serious lack of lenses that are available for it.
I do like a 32 megapixel sensor and it's probably going great for still photography but I think as far as the video features go I think the Fuji xt30 is considerably better than this.
200 megabits per second on the 4K way more lenses available with Optical stabilization in them and I just think the Fuji stat the better camera but you did a great job on the review.
