@@markwiemels Of course, now it's just a waiting game to get off back order. I ended up getting the 11-22mm and the 55-200mm how do you feel about that pairing? I know I'm missing a small focal length but i feel the 55 is smoother than the 18
@@caelandelgiudice2661 I think it’s the most interesting of the focal length coverage. The really wide, and really telephoto, are shots that most phones can’t get. So working in those focal ranges is a point of difference. If I could only have two lenses, that setup would be in very strong contention. You can pick up the 15-45 or 18-55 on eBay for under $100.
@@markwiemels Very helpful thank you brother! I actually have the 15-45 kit lens and the 22mm pancake already, I feel like I'll be able to capture any moment
I only own the M50 and have been trying to understand what would work well for my budget, this is what i really wanted to know and YOU delivered in a big way. Thank you for making this video for us.
I've watched this video at least twice a month every 2 months since it came out. I've bought several of the recommended lenses and even bought lenses and then later realized that they were featured in this video. Great work Mark!
As another M6 MkII user, I really appreciate all your excellent and practical videos. Based on this video, I picked up the Rokinon 12mm f2 and a vintage Helios (with speed booster) and they're both wonderful. I'll just add one other for your consideration -- I recently got the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 for M-mount for $300 and just love it. A manual lens but sharp in the centre wide open and by pushing down that f-stop really achieves the equivalent look of 56mm f1.4 on full frame with buttery smooth background bokeh -- a perspective which up until now has been elusive and not achieved by my Canon 32mm f1.4. Despite that our M system is likely going the way of the dodo, I now feel no pressure to upgrade for a full-frame look and have the sweet spot for quality on a budget. Thanks again for your work.
Hi. When you say that the M system is going the way of the dodo, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that in the future, an EF-M lenses will no longer have a body that is compatible?
I bought me a M50 mark II with the 180-150mm zoom as the kit lens. This is such a useful range. I didn't go for the 15-45 and 55-200 kit because from my older days working with prime lenses I know that one always has the wrong lens on the body. Whatever I had on the camera was either just too short or just too long. The 18-150 doesn't give me such problems. I also bought the 11-22mm because I got it at an excellent price, new at 2/3 of the price. I am very happy with everything. It is an amazing camera. I especially like the size, low weight and versatility.
Thanks so much. At last a video from somebody who knows what they're talking about. No unboxing, no "ultimate guide", just actual knowledge gained from experience. And I concur with all of it, except I haven't been as lucky with the 55-200. But you've enouraged me to try another one.
This video is the Gold Standard for camera reviews. Really appreciate your opinions based on personal experience using the equipment. If I buy a Canon M6 II, I will get the EF-M 18-55 mm lens rather than the kit lens because of your review. ALL your lens evaluations were illuminating. The Helios very intriguing. Look forward to more. I subscribed. Thanks, Mark.
So true. I am a newbie in photography and still trying to learn the tips and tricks. Thanks, Mark, for such a detailed video about the lenses. What do you think about Canon EF-S 55 to 250 mm F/4-5.6 and Canon EF 75-300 mm F/4-5.6 DC zoom lens. Which one do you recommend for long-distance photography and crispy clear pictures with image stabilization?
This content is top notch content from B-Roll to everything no sugar coating and he actually used them all to give real insight. I’m gonna look into that Viltrox 23MM F1.4 lens because Atleast 70% of my videos are filmed at night and the kit lens isn’t cutting it. I’m tired of that sort of grainy footage, the viltrox will be perfect to go along with my led light .
This is the best video for anyone trying to decide what lens to choose for their camera who has no clue about different type of lenses. Thank you so much for this video. Helped me a lot!
Timestamp (approx.) 20:30 Nifty Fifty.Use it with a standard adapter to have equiv. 80/1.8 or use the Viltrox Speedbooster to get an equiv. 55/1.4 (roughly.) Obviously the image quality won't compete with your 32/14, but then the price point is vastly different. Image quality per price point? What are your thoughts?
Sigma 56mm 1.4 is another wonderful lens for EFM. Helios is nice, I also use Jupiter-8 from the vintage lineup, it's got a really interesting super soft blur and smooth textures.
Yes, the reviews on the 56 are great. Looks like a good lens, I’m a big fan of sigma. I have had my eye out for one of those Jupiters, look interesting.
Hey, I’m trying to decide which second lens to buy between the Sigma 56 and the Canon 32, both seem to be similar in price and both seem to fit my needs like close up shots and candid photos of my wife and kids. Which one would you go with as a second lens to put with the kit lens for the m50?
@@markwiemels so much content complaining about the lack of lens options and that the system is dead, so glad somebody who know and works with the EF-M system is doing informative videos like this. I've been on the fence about getting the 28 macro, but I think you just helped me choose. 👍🏼
@@lawrencehillary4776 yes, there are more than enough lenses for the intended purpose of the system. I love that 28mm lens, just be aware, if you haven’t shot macro yet, there is way more to macro photography than you would think. It takes a while to get an eye for it and perfect the skills, which is actually a fun process, but you do have to work at it.
@@markwiemels thanks for the advice, the 28mm will be my first macro lens so I'm keen to learn how to use it, do you have any dedicated videos using the 28mm?
@@lawrencehillary4776 ok cool, that’s why I though I would mention it. Your first photos will likely be uninspiring, so don’t get disheartened. Lots of good tutorials on YT.
With my M50, I use the Canon 22mm f/2 lens, the Canon 55-200mm and the sigma 56mm f/1,4. It's a great and light combo. And sometimes, I use EF lenses on it with a speedbooster.
Hi! I personally have a 22mm f2 for trips and I'm wondering to go for the 56mm f1.4. I wanted to take pictures from people in some distance and also for cars... Do you think 56mm is better than 55-200mm? I don't know which one I have to pick, thank you in advance!
I recently picked up the 55-200mm lense and it is my favorite so far. I do a lot of wildlife photography and this has been such a help. I had picked it up after finding an osprey nest off of an old highway and I wasn't able to get close enough with the 15-45mm lense that came with my M200 to get a good shot of the osprey in it's nest. I still haven't caught it in it's nest since getting the lense but I keep going back every week to try. I've gotten many other great shots with it since I've been using it though. I love it.
I have all efm lenses, but I watched this video because I was curious about other third-party lenses. I think it's a well-organized and useful video. Thank you.
Thank you for this very detailed list of some incredible options. Those astronomy time lapses with the Meike 6.5 are absolutely gorgeous. I've personally been very impressed with the image quality (both photo and video) of the 55-200mm which just so happens to be the first additional lens I purchased for the M50.
Same! I've had the m50 for almost two years and have a couple of sigma lenses but am having so much fun with the 55-200mm. I seriously wish I would have bought this lens first! I finally bought it after watching this video for the 20th time. 😅
So for the canon m50 mark ii is a smart choice to add on a canon 18-200mm w/ a viltrox speed booster? Or 55-200mm w/ the Viltrox speed booster? Would either lens quality be better? And is this a smart or do-able idea?
Great video! I got the 15-45 and 55 - 200mm with my M50. Wholeheartedly agree with you on the 55 - 200mm. I've gotten amazing shots of wildlife with it! The majority of my fun on this camera is from that lens! Next up, I'd like to get that 32 mm (although Sigma has a 30mm that is significantly cheaper) and then the macro one you showed.
Hi! I'm writing from Italy. I have bought a used Canon M5 to replece my Canon 7D mark I. I usually used a Tamron 16-300: not a vary sharp lens (same quality of a kit lens but with a very impressive focal range). Now I have discovered that Tamron 16-300 is not compatible with Canon M-series (and my flash Yongnuo YN568EX II too!!). I have also other lenses: EF 50 f1.8 STM, EF-S 24 f2.8 pancake, Canon 18-135 STM and the EF-M 15-45. I have two choises: 1) I could try to sell the Tamron and the Canon 18-135, then buy a sigma 17-50 f2.8 + a Canon 55-250 STM. I hope this set up improve the sharpness/quality of my picture and cover all the focal range. 2) Buy only a EF-M 32mm f1.4. I'm not interested in video. Surely I'm not a professional photographer, but neither a begginer! I shot in every situation: my family want me to shot at weddings and baptisms, but I love portraits and streetphotografy, landscape and nature. Can you halp me?
Thank you so much, this is the best video explaining the different EF-M options. The downside is.. I want to have them all :) :) I already own the 22mm F2, and I love it. The Helios is the surprise for me, I will look for one right away.
Looking at my own lens collection mostly from second hand stores in China, I realize I have an excellent collection ranging from prime lenses to the high end lenses you mentioned. I just need to add a few more to my collection to make my M6 ii a full force for image creation. Thanks for the info!
By comparing the sharpness and Video Quality. Which one would you prefer: Canon 11-22 or Sigma 16 mm Does the 11-22 has any chance against the Sigma 16 mm ???
MY all-time favorite lens for my M5-/M50 Mk2 is the Sigma 56/1.4. It is an awesome lens and better than I have ever experienced from my EF days (which included a few L-lenses)
Excellent vid. Loved your passion and knowledge! I followed along with my m6 and canon, sigma and rokinon lenses! And learned some great stuff too. Thanks!
The Canon EF-M 22mm f2 lives on my M50. My favourite all purpose and travel lens. Just like a 35mm f2.0 or f2.8 used to live on my Nikon film cameras during my early photo-journalism days. I recently bought a 7Artisans 7.5mm f2.8 Fisheye because it was cheap. Big bang for your buck and fun to use.
Happy to see the last lens was my baby :) Had it for the 70D and now on my M6 mk2. This vid confirmed what I now want for distance. The 55-200. Thanks Mark!
Great video. Finally, all of them in one place with clear descriptions of pro and cons. I'm interested In doing macro video. You mentioned that you would show some shots on that skateboard contraption. Can you drop a link to that video? Thanks.
Hey Mark, As a new wedding videographer, the three lenses from your video that caught my eye as ones I should have in my bag were the 18-55mm kit lens for most shots, the 23mm Viltrox for low light, and the 55-200mm for when I really have to reach across a venue to get a bride/groom reaction, etc. Would you say that I'm off base in any of those choices, or would you make any other choices in my shoes?
I like macro 28 for when I want to get one component of a dish highlighted and something wider for spreads of food on a table. Something like a smoothie on a table, a 50mm-ish with tight focus is awesome. I'll use an old helios and some fairy lights behind it if I want some fancy looking outdoor shots of food.
Hello Mark ! I want to buy a budget friendly all around camera and lenses, for like - vlogging, portraits, landscape and other general shots. Which camera and lens do you suggest ? Hope you will reply!
I own Canon EF cameras and also an M kit, and I love the Ms. I have the M, M50 mk1, M10 and all of the native lenses except the 32mm f1.4 M (I also own a few 7Artisans, TT Artisans and Meike lM lenses), and I just can't understand why people hat the system and why it has been dropped by Canon considering there is also a huge range of EF, third party and vintage lenses that are usable on the Ms with the appropriate adaptor. I often use my M50 on my 35-350mm EF L, 100-400mm EF L and 200mm f2.8 L to great effect with no loss in performance or speed. I own and have experimented with Fuji (selling that system) and Olympus / Panasonic M43 systems, and only the M43 system is the one I would pick if the M system wasn't in existence already.
Hello, Mark I liked your videos, Can you recommend EF 50mm 1.8 with Adapter for products shoots, I own kit lens that came with M50 Mark II and TTArtisan 17mm 1.4, your advice on cheap option, thanks......
I get these “what lens” questions a lot, and it can really depend on lots of other factors, but the EF-M 28mm macro is the one that jumps out at me for your purpose.
Mark, Thanks for the run through on the 16 lenses reviewed in this video and he ideas where each best fits a particular use. Some of these I will be taking a look at as all of the lenses that I have for my M50 are stock Cannon EF-M lenses. I guess my only version 2 video request would be that the lenses be split talking about those with the native camera mount, then those requiring an adapter and may be a plug for a good adapter. I say this because I had to scrub back and for the to determine whether an adapter was being used or not. The other question I have is whether there are are additional lenses that could be considered as part of the toolbox if using a speed booster as opposed to an adapter, i.e., the Viltrox Speed Booster for the EOS M50.
Hello I really love your videos. I am a new photographer and just got the mark II your video helped me narrow down what lenses I would like. I am having a hard time choosing between 18-150 and the 55-200
18-150 if you want one lens to do everything. 55-200 if you do more sports and stuff you need the extra reach, I think for most people the 18-150 is a great one lens solution.
@@markwiemels thank you! I do a lot landscape and starting to do street photography. I already have the 15-45 kit lens. So you suggest the 18-150 for those type of photography?
I am a newbie in photography and still trying to learn the tips and tricks. Thanks, Mark, for such a detailed video about the lenses. The macro lens here was actually the big seller for me. As someone with the EF 100mm macro with a ring flash I use on a 650D the whole kit was just… too much. It ended up being so much bulk that I just never bothered to take it anywhere. The M50 with macro doesn’t get nearly as good a shot - but at least I’m willing to carry it.
He Mark, quick question. I had my first interview that I needed to film today. Camera M50 mark 2 with a 30mm 1,4 Sigma. I had set the aperture to 2. But Several times the focus was out and started to refocus. The image was blurred. I activated face focus and eye detection. I shot in 24 fps and 1/50 shutter speed. Nd filter on it to prevent overexposure. everything is in manual mode. Should I just increase the aperture to increase the depth of the field to stop the refocusing?
Wow. I’m surprised it lost focus, you can try taping the subjects face, just to lock it on. The M50 shouldn’t have any problems in that situation generally.
Great and helpful video! Any comments about Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM lens? Can this be used with M50 and are there any pros/cons against Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5−6.3 IS STM?
I have a cannon M50 and want to know if the 15-45 kit lens is good enough for interior photography like furniture or do I need another lens for it, if yes then which one would it be? To get an idea, the photos will be of interior furniture, sofas, dining tables etc. Want to make photos look professional like they could be on an architecture or interior design magazine.

I have been looking for an in depth video like his for a long time, I'm in the market to buy another lens for my Canon M50. I only have the kit lens right now. I'm doing car photography but want more options for focal length. The 18-55 is looking very enticing and I've gotten more information out of the first 10 minutes of this video than I have watching like 20 other videos! Thanks so much!

You want the 32mm for sure, it’s a more versatile focal length for those purposes. It’s also one of the highest quality lenses I have ever used on any camera system.
what sense would you reccomen for a daily vlogger? as I usually use the camera directed to my face and I want to get a wider more zoomed out shot when vlogging and talking into the camera
Looking for a good sharp lens for video not sure if I want the bulk and cost of the sigma 16mm what are your thoughts in the Rokinon 12mm as an alternative
Great content… I’m fairly new to photography, and currently only have Canon M50 with an 18-150 lens, and looking for something to compliment that lens, for day to day use, photos of family, maybe some street photography.. I like the small 22mm lens. However I do like have a bit of zoom on a lens so I can adjust the frame, but maybe I should just use the 18-150 for those situations.. Would anyone have recommendations on a solid general use lens?
Great video! I just got my M50 Mark II and I was wondering how you do night time time lapse shoots since the camera doesn't have an intervalometer? I'm really into astrophotography and I mostly shoot with my 77D but I want to move completely to the EF-M system since I travel a lot
OMG Mark, I have to say you are an extraordinary person I have yet to see on UA-cam! I truly admire your enthusiasm and knowledge of these lenses. I am new to the photography and video and I wish I knew a person as yourself to mentor me in my journey of video and photography. Hmmm that's actually a good thought! I wonder if anyone has put something on UA-cam like that? Mentoring a newbie via split zoom on UA-cam... Hmmmm, What's your take on that?
Thanks for all your kind words. That’s a super clever idea, for sure if I even go down that path, you will be at the front of the line. If I could only find more time in the day.
Thank you for sharing your collection of lenses Mark, that was superb and informative. I don't quite have the number of lenses available to my M50 as you but I'm getting there. Instead of the Canon 32mm F1.4, for cost I chose the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as it was about 60% the price of the Canon. I also bought the Sigma 56mm f1.4 for portraits. I also own an SL3/250D so with an adapter I can use the EF/EF-S lenses that I have for my SL3 like the 10-18mm f4.5-5.6, EF-S 24mm f2.8 & Sigma 17-55mm OS f2.8 at a push.
Wow great video! I would also recommend the Sigma 56mm f1.4 efm lens. That thing is a beast with portraits. Gonna need the telephoto and maybe the Sigma kit lens. Does it need an adapter to work with the M6 II?
Yah that sigma 56 looks really good. Yes, you need an adapter for the Sigma 18-35mm. The M6 II is practically a cinema camera with that lens in it, the images are stunning.
Hi, I hope you can see this. I have the canon m50ii and i hope its possible for you to try the canon m50ii on yongnuo 85mm 1.8 or yongnuo 100 f2. Gerd Kamer. Thank you very much for your video. Yesterday, I got my new EOS M50 Mark II (till now I used Panasonic equipment) and I've found many informations and hints for that camera from your video. However, I've a question concerning old lenses, used on an EOS Rebel camera, bought 1989 in LA for my son. Is there an adapter available on the market and if so which type is it, to mount my old lenses 35-80 mm and 100-200mm to the M50? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Have a canon M50 Mark 2 and have some good AF lens. Bought a 7artisons 35 mm 0.95 manual focus. I'm confused about focus zones. Do I need to establish one if I have focus peeking?
I asked a photographer which lens should be my first choice besides the kit lens, and he said to start with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 . I think he was right. Definitely a top 3 lens in efm
Do a video on the manual lenses and how you shoot with them, like the Rokinon 12mm f2, on the street, landscape, portrait, and astro. Would be a good video, that could be useful with manual mode on autofocus lenses as well.
Question I just got a m50 mark II I'm going to use this for hunting photos along with some small hunting video's for my outdoor company an was curious what lens you think I should go with. Thanks love the video's
Thanks for the video, Mark. Love my Sigma 16mm and just picked up a Sirui 35mm 1.33 anamorphic for video. The Sirui has a modular mount system, allowing it to be adapted by consumers for Sony E and MFT. Do you know if my Canon-brand EF-Ms can be used in any interchangeable-mount cinema cam? Heard something about Z Cam having good mount compatibility, but EF-M seems locked down by Canon. Guessing MFT is probably my best upgrade path.
Hello and thank you for this very interesting video. Which do you think is better for eos M6 Mark II = Canon EF-M 32mm f / 1.4 STM or Sigma 56mm f / 1.4 DC DN Canon EF-M mount? In advance thank you for your response.
Both are great, the question you need to answer, is which focal length works best for you. As a note, I would say 32mm tends to be more versatile. Watch the start of this video. ua-cam.com/video/nqxI_KD8goI/v-deo.html
@@markwiemels Thank you very much for your reply and the Video link. But that would only be for Portrait use. For Landscapes or street photography I would buy the 22mm f2 ef-m.
Thanks for the tip on that lens, I will check it out.
Where did find your Helios? TY
Yah that’s a great lens setup, the 18-150 is a good choice.

Thanks so much. At last a video from somebody who knows what they're talking about. No unboxing, no "ultimate guide", just actual knowledge gained from experience. And I concur with all of it, except I haven't been as lucky with the 55-200. But you've enouraged me to try another one.
Thank you for your kind words!
Thanks! yah the 18-55, and helios, both excellent, inexpensive lenses.
So good to hear! Thank you for the kind words.
It is special when a video on youtube is so good you have to keep coming back to watch it over and over again !! Thanks for the content !!
Wow, thank you!
It’s gives you a really cool, vintage look, but the sharpness is pretty bad. I still like it.
old video, watching it several times now, but never outdated. Very handy when I need information of lenses for my efm camera.
Thanks.
Most informative Ef-M video I've seen, subscribed 👍🏼
Thanks, thats so kind of you to say.
Yeh, I am surprised the sigma 56mm wasn’t mentioned. I have it and think it’s amazing
I didn’t even know you can use these. I only thought you can use ef m lenses on it
Just bought the exact same selection with a M6 II.
Hi! I personally have a 22mm f2 for trips and I'm wondering to go for the 56mm f1.4. I wanted to take pictures from people in some distance and also for cars... Do you think 56mm is better than 55-200mm? I don't know which one I have to pick, thank you in advance!
This was a super helpful video! Thank you for sharing your lenses with us.
Thank you.
Great list! Only EF-M lens you're missing is the EF-M 18-150mm! :D
Yeah, that's a great lens, I may own it some day.
EF-M 32 mm best 🔥
My fave for sure!
sigma 30 f1,4 is no worse
This is my favorite on my m50! The 22mm is second and 56mm sigma rounds out my top 3
Found this really useful. Just picked one up for video for my own channel. Nice to see the lens selection isn’t as small as I thought it was.
Great to hear!
Yes, I love that lens, very underrated.
I agree, just purchased 55-200mm, love the results. Basically use 2 lenses 16 and 55-200, and GoPro Hero 10.
And is this a smart or do-able idea?
over 2yrs and still a useful vid for lens shopping for a M6 mark2💪👍🏿
because no new lens has come out since 🤣
Great video!
I had the exact experience with you. After i get the 32mm i just fall in love it was so freakin sharrrrpppppp
I have two choises:
1) I could try to sell the Tamron and the Canon 18-135, then buy a sigma 17-50 f2.8 + a Canon 55-250 STM.
I would do 1, would be a far more versatile setup.
did u get canon 55-250 stm? how is it if u did
Thank you so much, this is the best video explaining the different EF-M options. The downside is.. I want to have them all :) :) I already own the 22mm F2, and I love it. The Helios is the surprise for me, I will look for one right away.
Thanks. Yes, the Helios is a bargain, scratches that itch for a new lens at a very small cost. The images are pretty special.
Thank you Mark. I have just bought a Canon M6 ii for use as a second camera and this is just what I have been looking for on lenses to use on it.
It's a super camera, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
Looking at my own lens collection mostly from second hand stores in China, I realize I have an excellent collection ranging from prime lenses to the high end lenses you mentioned. I just need to add a few more to my collection to make my M6 ii a full force for image creation. Thanks for the info!
This is literally the most helpful review of lenses that I’ve ever come across!! Thank you so much 🙌🏼
Thank you so much!
By comparing the sharpness and Video Quality. Which one would you prefer: Canon 11-22 or Sigma 16 mm
Does the 11-22 has any chance against the Sigma 16 mm ???
The 16mm is probably sharper, but not by a lot.
On Google looking for these exact answers for days and it just pops up after I subscribed in less than 24 hours. Absolutely awesome 👌.
Great to hear!
MY all-time favorite lens for my M5-/M50 Mk2 is the Sigma 56/1.4. It is an awesome lens and better than I have ever experienced from my EF days (which included a few L-lenses)
Mostly portraits or?
This is definitely the video I needed to watch, really glad I found this channel.Kudos to you , man , thank you.
You are most welcome.
Excellent vid. Loved your passion and knowledge! I followed along with my m6 and canon, sigma and rokinon lenses! And learned some great stuff too. Thanks!
I'm a novice - Great vid to help understand what you can see at each focal length. It's tiring to buy and return lenses to see what each can do. Thx.
Oh great! thanks for the comment.
HI Mark! do you have a specific video on how you did this 1:56 clip, really nice astroshots on m50.
I don't, I need to make one.
Great to hear!
By far the best EF-M camera lens review video ever made! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words!
Thank you Mark for the brief and extremely useful comparison of so wide lens line up. Much appreciated.
You are most welcome.
Great video. Finally, all of them in one place with clear descriptions of pro and cons. I'm interested In doing macro video. You mentioned that you would show some shots on that skateboard contraption. Can you drop a link to that video? Thanks.
I never made the video, but I still use that setup. I should make the video.
@@markwiemels
You should. That would be great. Thanks.
Love all the shots of Melbourne, thanks for the EF-M content.
You are very welcome.
Love seeing all these shots around Melbourne!
What a great overview. Thank you. Looks like my trio would be the Canon macro, Canon 55-200, and the Sigma 18-35.
That would be a very good setup.
Hey Mark,
As a new wedding videographer, the three lenses from your video that caught my eye as ones I should have in my bag were the 18-55mm kit lens for most shots, the 23mm Viltrox for low light, and the 55-200mm for when I really have to reach across a venue to get a bride/groom reaction, etc.
Would you say that I'm off base in any of those choices, or would you make any other choices in my shoes?
Great video - which lens would you recommend for food photography?
I like macro 28 for when I want to get one component of a dish highlighted and something wider for spreads of food on a table. Something like a smoothie on a table, a 50mm-ish with tight focus is awesome. I'll use an old helios and some fairy lights behind it if I want some fancy looking outdoor shots of food.
Love my M50 and 22 f/2 combo. It is indeed great as a stealth street camera. It's also was my better webcam setup at the beginning of covid.
Hello Mark ! I want to buy a budget friendly all around camera and lenses, for like - vlogging, portraits, landscape and other general shots. Which camera and lens do you suggest ? Hope you will reply!
M50 is great, best budget camera in my opinion. M6 Mark II is better, but more money.
5:20 is that Flinders street Melbourne?
Ok, it seems to be. 9:10
Yep.
What kind of lens should i choose for filming fly tying videos? Thanks for a great review.
I get these “what lens” questions a lot, and it can really depend on lots of other factors, but the EF-M 28mm macro is the one that jumps out at me for your purpose.
Hi Mark, thanks for a great educational video. I own a canon M50 mark II and this was a great help.
Thanks once again.
Great to hear!
Mark,
Thanks for the run through on the 16 lenses reviewed in this video and he ideas where each best fits a particular use.
Some good ideas. Thanks.
@@jaredhunter1676 yes, I would go with that.
@@markwiemelsthank you!
Love the idea of the fisheye lens. Can it be corrected to a rectangular image in lightroom or is there a better way?
I am a newbie in photography and still trying to learn the tips and tricks. Thanks, Mark, for such a detailed video about the lenses. What do you think about Canon EF-S 55 to 250 mm F/4-5.6 and Canon EF 75-300 mm F/4-5.6 DC zoom lens. Which one do you recommend for long-distance photography and crispy clear pictures with image stabilization?
The macro lens here was actually the big seller for me. As someone with the EF 100mm macro with a ring flash I use on a 650D the whole kit was just… too much. It ended up being so much bulk that I just never bothered to take it anywhere. The M50 with macro doesn’t get nearly as good a shot - but at least I’m willing to carry it.
Yeh, the saying goes, “the best camera is the one you have with you”, I do wish the 28mm was a bit longer focal length.
Dude holy crap, this is insanely useful!! I love this channel
Thanks!
15:06 i think someone playing behind, i can hear noise😬😂 nice video bro❤️
Can this be used with M50 and are there any pros/cons against Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5−6.3 IS STM?
did u get 55-250mm stm or 55-200 one?
I have a cannon M50 and want to know if the 15-45 kit lens is good enough for interior photography like furniture or do I need another lens for it, if yes then which one would it be? To get an idea, the photos will be of interior furniture, sofas, dining tables etc. Want to make photos look professional like they could be on an architecture or interior design magazine.
Yes, it will work fine for that.
I really love your videos, you explain everything so well, thanks for all your work! :D
I usually don't comment on youtube videos but I just wanted to highlight that you are an amazing professional, your teaching skills are very good and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I have been looking for an in depth video like his for a long time, I'm in the market to buy another lens for my Canon M50. I only have the kit lens right now. I'm doing car photography but want more options for focal length. Ef-m 11-22
You are 100% on the right track, I would get either the canon 22mm or the Viltrox 23mm, both are great.
@@markwiemels Thanks mate
Great video! I just got my M50 Mark II and I was wondering how you do night time time lapse shoots since the camera doesn't have an intervalometer?

@@markwiemels Great! Thanks for your quick reply.
Thanks! Yah, that sigma series of lenses is so good. The sigma 56 looks great for portraits.
Hey, are you happy with your 30mm 1.4, how is it with street photography and potrait?
Wow great video! I would also recommend the Sigma 56mm f1.4 efm lens. That thing is a beast with portraits. Gonna need the telephoto and maybe the Sigma kit lens. Does it need an adapter to work with the M6 II?
Yah that sigma 56 looks really good. Yes, you need an adapter for the Sigma 18-35mm. The M6 II is practically a cinema camera with that lens in it, the images are stunning.
Добрый день! Спасибо за хороший обзор. Подскажите пожалуйста таймлапс в начале ролика на какую фотокамеру был снят?

Yes, if they are autofocus lenses, this will work - geni.us/WBUbY
Good idea, thanks.
Question I just got a m50 mark II I'm going to use this for hunting photos along with some small hunting video's for my outdoor company an was curious what lens you think I should go with. Thanks love the video's
EF-M 18-150, very versatile and good lens.
You can adapt EF-M to just about everything, including PL mount, the best cinie mount.

Hi Mark, great video as usual! Which lens would you recommend for street photography? I would prefer something more versatile so I don't need to carry many lens around. Btw, now I have the sigma 16mm 1.4 and the kit lens, both serve me very well especially the sigma lens.
Either the Viltrox 23mm or the Canon 22mm.
Hi Mark, thanks for this. How would you rate the Helios' performance for black & white photography?
You rock for putting the links in the description!!
Do u have a top 5 or holy trinity? A trinity for daylight and a trinity for low light situations?

i have much bigger ef sigma glass and vintage lenses but thats extending out into huge array of what available
i use the M50 for quite a few different genre of photography, mainly wildlife
a killer vintage lens is the taukumar 55mm 1.8,
the ones you have mentioned that i don't have and will take a closer look at are the 6.5mm and the helios 44m,
great vid and thanks for posting on canon m50 user group on facebook
i have small hands so the M50 is a good fit for me and i think it handles the big ef 400-800mm lenses very well, i also love its small compact size on its native lenses, two cameras in one
The Lowa 9mm is an amazing lens, the only copy I have had in my hands was a bad/non-sharp copy, which has put me off trying it again. I hope to own a sharp copy of that lens some day, the FOV is amazing. I almost brought an 18-150 the other day, it could be the best do it all lens for the mount, buy all reports its' an excellent lens. I have the Taukumar 135mm and really like it, will keep an eye out for the 55.
I am thinking of setting up my canon m50 with small gimbal for nature trail hiking and touring Not too wide but wide enough to show landscape really like your review for the 18-55mm or the 22mm So many choices
Both are good choices, can't got wrong.
@@markwiemels I got the 18-55 II also did the newest firmware update for the camera. I think the video can work with just using a cage touring around May not need a gimbal
@@JohnGSoloGuitar yah, the lens IS is very good, I find gimbals a real burden. They are big and finicky, I would focus on your storytelling and hand held video technique.
