  • Why do badminton players take their time to deliver a good low serve and then stop? Why are they so unprepared for the next shot?
On this video you’ll discover how to prepare quickly after the serve, so you are able to intercept replies to the net, therefore continuing to attack your opponents.

Also may I ask your racquet head seems to be at different positions after serving. Is that because you already can see where the return shot is going so you are already ready and bring your racquet up to forehand or backhand position?

Chi Tung I am trying to move my racket to a central position which in turn ensures I have little racket movement to either intercept shuttles on forehand or backhand sides which also providing an element of protection if the shuttle is aimed at me

What about shots that land near edges of court close to net, especially if opponent does a trick return?

Chi Tung from where I position myself and racket, I am able to cover these returns

@@TheBadmintonCoach yes, I could see with the right explosive footwork, you would be able to quickly cover those 2 edges, and by also reading the opponent movement. It would be great if you can also demonstrate these in a video to show how you would move to the edges at the net.

Chi Tung it’s difficult to capture this without a court. However, always remember that a player is never covering the entire net. The shuttle must pass over the net at specific points to land in court. If the player looks to intercept the shuttle where it crosses the net and not where it may land, this cuts out a lot of unnecessary movement
