    I am so moved by this video. Your lace curtain of love is truly an inspired work! It honors the crochet work of the hands of generations past in a unique way. The icing on the cake is that you incorporate pieces created by your mother of blessed memory! I am so cheered by this video. So glad I “met” you!

      I would separate the squares from the rounded pieces and make a courtain either with squares or with rounded ones together. Just my oppinion. But I love the Idea of recuperatig the pieces from the flea market.

    This is so beautiful it almost makes me emotional. You took the warmth of so many hands and brought it to your home. Maybe many of them are not alive anymore but part of their energy live in your house and passing their creativity to you and to us through videos. Finding works of your moms hands is so special, I have few pieces from my grandmother and mother and sometimes I wonder if my kids would keep what I do, or donate them to thrift store.

    I love how your curtain turned out 😊. My mom still has crocheted doilies & embroidery left to her from my Finnish grandma.💕 My mother & grandmother first taught me to crochet at age 8. It was very heartwarming that you remembered you had pieces left from your mother & were able to incorporate them into the beautiful curtain.🧶💕 So glad to have found your channel.😊

    So glad you saved these amazing pieces and found your Mother's squares to add. This curtain is so beautiful. A great video to encourage others to find and save such items. I recently remarried on August 15th and while making my bed for my wedding night, I found a set of pillowcase with beautiful purple embroidered flowers my grandma had made. God bless you have a great day or night.

    And there are, like a cherry on the top of the cake, your mother's beautiful crochet works. They makes it special.

    OH MY! OH MY!
    WONDERFULLY BEAUTIFUL‼️💗
    And SO PRECIOUS having your mother’s crochet squares incorporated in this marvelous project.
    Thank You so VERY MUCH
    for taking us with you on your journey making this gorgeous curtain.
    When I was learning different crochet stitches , I took on the project of an afghan with 63 different squares in white and ecru cotton yarn. And like you, while I was in process with this afghan, I found items made by my dear mother who had died many years before: a couple of her ecru cotton dish clothes that my mother crocheted, and one that she had knitted. It was amazing that these found items were exactly the same size square as the 63 squares that I was crocheting. Also like you , I included them in my project. My heart was and continues to be deeply touched with joy because my mother’s precious squares are a part of my afghan of 63 square different squares.

    This brought me to tears, there must be so many stories woven into these beautiful pieces of crochet. Thank you for showing us this true labour of love. My grandmother died leaving loads of incomplete projects, crochet, knitting, embroidery and tatting, all of which I have inherited when mum died recently. All projects are wrapped up individually in paper, all with the yarns, threads, hooks, shuttles and patterns, some handwritten. You have encouraged me to get them out and try to finish them and see how i can display them. Some of the patterns have 1950`s dates on them. These things are so precious 🥰

    Beautiful ideas, thank you. Yes, i have transformed a vaby blanket into a cardigan for my daughter, a few of them, actually. I've made many bags and shopping sags, from small crocheted of knitted items. Also, I've purchased lace pieces snd made stylish pillows casee. As well as marking amigurumi, like pumpkins from small crocheted rectangle properties, or unfinished itens i buy from the marketplace. At tge end of tve day, i love to crochete and knit myself, so i do purchase yarnvfrom a second hand stores, i have a friend who runs a tatto shop, she lets me do the yarn sterilization in her autoclave. 😊.

    I saw in a catalog or magazine or online that someone made a duster out of crocheted doilies. I have a tablecloth that my grandmother made that as much as I love it as a tablecloth, I don't entertain, my house isn't large enough, we don't even have a dining room. With something made from it, I still get to enjoy it. I'm thinking the top portion of cafe curtains because I have cats who would love nothing more than to shred it. We shall see. 😊

    I love the way the sun comes through your curtain and all the different patterns. Have you considered, coaster sized rounds to join the pieces where there are gaps due to matching odd sides, so the curtain hangs and flows more uniformly? I understand that you made it for boho look, but just wondered. So wonderful that you gave all these recycled pieces, and your mother’s pieces a new and beautiful rebirth!

      @@TuulaMaaria It looks great! And you have to be commended for sewing it all together by hand! I thought you might be joining these pieces with crochet stitches, and understandably that would have added considerable time to the project, as well. The piecing and placement is beautiful and the segments themselves have beautiful handcrafted designs. It is a beautiful modern way to preserve and recycle crochet of yesteryears!

    Greetings from Texas. Your curtain is a labor of love, history, and amazing art. Its wonderful that you are a visionary and were able to painstakingly salvage these beautiful doilies and design a new purpose for them. The shades of white doilies remind me of my abuela (Spanish for grandmother) who was a master crocheter like you. I wish I had been able to save some of her creations, but many were lost as we moved around. Please show us how you wash them. My grandmother use to starch them with a mixture she made herself. Then she would soak them, I don't know how long, finally she would iron them. They were so beautiful. Also could you tell us more about Textile Recycle Center? I have never heard of such a thing. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and talent with us.

    I love your curtain. Your mum's squares are what we would say... the icing on the cake... a special part of the curtain. You have given me thoughts. Because my curtain will be on the sunny western side I think I will overlap mine so not as much light comes in. Also I will choose doilies that are crocheted closer together, again so a spot of sunlight doesn't hit your eye while you are trying to watch TV. haha

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  Рік тому

      Thanks so much! 😊 That is a great idea, to take the sun into consideration! You could also have a
      fabric lining on the doilies although then they wouldn't show as clearly!

    • @suestutzle2779
      @suestutzle2779 Рік тому

      @@TuulaMaaria Actually Tuula that's not a bad idea. A lining. I could get some light weight sheer fabric and mount the doilies on that. A neutral shade would probably show up the doilies patterns. Then it wouldn't matter if the doilies had a more open design. I think, after seeing your beautiful curtain and me all inspired, it's time to get Aunty's doilies out of the cupboard and show case them.
