I like to leave the leftover yarn outside, preferably at the base of a tree where birds hang out. A quick tip: cut the two cardboard hearts at right angles to each other. Having the corrugations go in different directions creates an incredibly sturdy backing piece.
Great idea! Both my daughter and I crochet so we have a lot of leftover yarn. I think I'm going to use your technique and try making Christmas tree ornaments.
This is such a cute idea. It should be "using leftover yarn" though. Thread is fused for sewing on a sewing machine but yarn is for knitting and crocheting. This, therefore is yarn. Love your creativity.
awesome! I was thinking it could even make a great hanging spinner ornament if one could see the back too lol maybe use parchment paper cut into shapes to match resin molds then after the design is made, separate the paper from it & put the yarn itself in the resin mold & fill with resin of choice (glittery, shimmering, etc) & so on.. voila, 3D artpiece! 😍💜

If you put a baking sheet first thing on top of the glue/yarn layer, you have to worry less about the paper sticking to the yarn after ironing.
