Clio, Minister of the Joseon tabletop military has returned and he has brought lots of gold to support our niche army!

Haha, it took a long time to return, it's not fast converting already finished models but I had to do it right or not do it at all. Enjoy!

@@CliosPaintingBench I started painting some Joseon policemen miniatures before I learned that they are not typical Joseon soldiers. But I'm happy they still depict something historical. Now I think of using them as some kind of cheap auxiliary troops. Do you maybe know a somewhat precise date when these uniforms were introduced? I want to do a post-imjin war force for the most part well into the 17th century, so more muskets for example, but maybe still to early for uniforms like of the lads in black and white?

@@_ukkonen_3768 I mean, I made the same mistake haha. I tried to research it and it didn't seem right but Google translate wasn't clear so I had an internal debate where I knew it wasn't accurate but I didn't have a real alternative and black and white seemed so easy so I figured I could always change it later. So the thing is , the black and white uniform depict the Na-Jol (나졸) (羅卒). They were established in the 17th century and the uniform colours varied, with the most common being a black overcoat and blue vest, BUT the sculpts can actually depict standard infantry, not just auxiliaries because at this time the standard army looked like this: twitter.com/gum_su_/status/1152166752874139648/photo/1
If you want more references, youtube the Jinju Musuem youtube channel, they recently made a short film series on a Joseon civil war depicting late Joseon that can show you the uniforms

@@CliosPaintingBench Thank you for the infos! The Jinju museum channel has some good stuff. I didn't really know before that the Joseon were so much into hand cannons pre-Imjin-War. Funny that in their videos they also use a lot of the black and white uniforms.

@@_ukkonen_3768 some of their earlier stuff was a little inaccurate but it has gotten a lot better! Their latest animation is great

Thanks Justin! Glad you enjoyed it, it was an interesting army to paint but the historical research was quite difficult, paid off though I think

I'll have to watch it again and take some more notes along the way, but it'll be very helpful for my project (whenever I get back to it). I keep trying to get started but work and life just keep getting in the way. Thanks for doing this research, you've done a great service to the hobby.

Yeah I've been waiting for updates, I love seeing people doing the same obscure projects I like, it's the whole point. I want to note that I just repackage other content in a video, easy-English listening form, the history exists if you go look for it and I had a lot of help from people who know Korean. We build upon the knowledge and work of others.

@@CliosPaintingBench I can't say for certain when I'll start updating again. But it will happen. I did some thinking and the last time I had picked up a brush (prior to a canvas painting I'm currently working on) was late-October last year.
Also, Fireforge finally sent me my Sengoku Japanese two weeks ago as well. They were supposed to have arrived around Sept-Dec of last year. I haven't even touched those yet, but they are nice sculpts.

@@TheCommandBunker Yeah the Fireforge sculpts are lovely but I heard about the delays too. You don't have to rush hobby things, the point is enjoyment. Don't make it into a job if you don't have to lol

@@CliosPaintingBench I definitely want to take my time. That said, I wasn't planning this long of a hiatus.
There are still 12 work in progress Ancient Germans and 4 Victrix WW2 British on my desk. When my muse returns, I'll probably start back on those.

@@TheCommandBunker Ah, I considered doing Ancient Germans too after watching Barbarians and Gladiator, but too thematically close to the Celts, need more of a time to try other things haha
