  • I got a chance to use my Hart 80 volt riding mower the morning after I shot this footage. I thought I'd share my thoughts.
The seat: I'm not keen on how deep the seat is, I don't feel like I have enough upper leg support. The seat is very comfortable thanks to good padding, and offers good back support. The two rear seat springs do a good job of keeping the user from feeling all the bumps and rough spots the mower runs over.
The pedals: I think the pedals are a bit too far forward. I'm short and with my disability I have to have the seat pushed forward far enough that I'm really close to the steering wheel and even then it's a stretch to reach the pedals. The pedals sizes are great though and the pedals are large enough to use comfortably.
Batteries: These are 80 volt 10 amp suitcase style batteries with a terminal on the right side and an LCD battery level display on top. Press the H and you get a readout on the battery level.
Steering: There's a bit of play in the steering, I don't know what's causing it, but it's not substantial or anything. The steering wheel is nicely padded and comfortable. I find the steering to be relatively easy even with my spinal muscular issues.
Ride: The ride is pretty good, better than my 30 inch Weed Eater riding mower and my previous 24 inch Yard machine riding mower. My yard is bumpy and uneven and the mower handled it pretty well. I only got stuck once, but was easily able to unstick myself by backing the mower up a foot and trying again.
Stability: The mower feels very stable. The south side of my yard has a nasty cross slope where it meets the neighbor's yard, it tends to scare the hell out of me, but this mower didn't feel the least bit tippy. My lawn where it meets the curb leading to the street also has a nasty cross slope which scares the hell out of me, and the mower felt very stable there as well. The curb in front of my house is only two or three inches tall for some reason and I was actually able to stratal the curb with my left tires on the pavement and right tires on the lawn and mow that bit of grass there without feeling scared of tipping over.
Deck: I like the twin smaller blades, this cuts down on how long the mower has to be to accommodate a single 30 inch blade. Also the deck seems to have helper springs or something on it. I can easily adjust the deck height without asking for help, something I can't do with my Weed Eater riding mower. I love having the pull up button to turn on the twin mowing motors and the mow while in reverse function.
Belts: There aren't any!! Holy crap, that is so much better! You can't even begin to image how much I hate belts.
Performance: The mower performs great, of course I've only used it once so far. But I mowed my front yard which hadn't been mowed in something like three weeks, and I mowed my neighbor to the south's front yard which hadn't been mowed in over a month and the cut looks fantastic. Neither my yard or my neighbor's yard look fantastic to begin with but the mower did an outstanding job nonetheless.
Other thoughts: I had a friend install the mulch plug for me, though I had him take the discharge chute off first, it's not meant to be taken off and we had to destroy a lock washer to do so. The lock washer is a common hardware store item and easily replaced. I needed the discharge chute off so the mower would fit though my somewhat narrow gates, and I won't miss it.
I love the little storage bin at the rear of the mower, I keep a few tools in there including the Torx driver needed to remove the battery compartment lid.
The cup holder is a nice addition and it's slotted on two sides to allow for putting a cell phone in there. It's too small for my cell phone though and honestly it's too far back. The cup holder should be further forward so shorter users can easily reach their drink.
I love the storage net in front of the seat, this is where I keep my cell phone when mowing. If I get stuck and can't get unstuck, or the mower fails I need my phone to call for help since I can't just step off the mower. The transmission, which contains many plastic parts, on my Weed Eater mower melted down one afternoon leaving me stranded. I couldn't get a hold of anyone I knew so I had to call 911 to be rescued from my front yard. I'm glad I had my phone on me.
I love not having a transmission lever to work with. I always struggle to put my Weed Eater in reverse, so much so that I had to modify the lever, making the lever longer and installing a chrome gear shift knob to the top to make it easier to hang on to. Moving my right foot off the go pedal to press the reverse pedal is so much nicer and easier than dealing with a transmission lever.
Overall this is an excellent battery powered lawn mower and if, like me, you're disabled, or are getting older and are struggling to use your gas powered mower, I think the Hart 80 volt riding mower would be an excellent choice.

Looks a lot like the Ryobi RM300e mower that I have, except it is lithium rather than the lead-acid batteries.
    Nice. :)

That was the only reason I didn't buy the Ryobi mower. It was a tough choice.

The charger that comes with the mower is portable? I thought you had to hardwire it 😅

Nope, it's portable, it's heavy, but it's portable. It can be mounted to a wall though.

I'm not sure how tall I am, I haven't walked since 1973. I'm pretty short though.
