Yup. Pony pressed in a lot flax back in the day. Standard MD with 3 14” rope trip plows. A real Adrenalin shock when you’re dozing and you hit a rock and unhook the plow.
Back in the day we had a neighbor with an M diesel. It was about a mile and a half diagonally across the section from our place to his and we could always tell if he was in the field. There be a column of very black smoke above him. We had an Allis Chalmers WD 45 diesel that started and ran on diesel, no pony motor, no start on gas and switch to diesel, but just like they do today.
Nice looking tractor. About drove me up the wall when you switch to diesel and did not rev it up. Get the oil splashing around in the engine. Guess it doesn’t matter, they still keep going.
Thanks, Rudy! I generally post videos once per year after my annual plowing trip to Hitterdal. I should be posting more videos in the coming weeks.@@rudycarlson8245
I grew up attached to a SMDTA that was our big horse for quite a few years. Had a big manure spreader that ran all winter on it & it pulled the plow & disk in the spring & was the bale wagon road tractor all summer. Those were the days when men were men & when democrats loved our country. Now, not so much…
A 1953 said Farmall on the grill and did not have live hydraulic, the pump was behind the engine under the belly and the battery was under the tank. A 1954 said IH on the grill, had live hydraulic and the battery was under the seat.
Awesome running MD! Was it a lot of work to change the throttle over to the gas style? Also, what size tires are you running front and back? They look great. Mine 53 SMD has 15.5 stuffed on the stock rims and they look balloonish, Thanks
Your Farmall looks nice. It’s fun to watch old farm equipment working. Do you use that tractor in cold weather? Thank you for your videos and stay safe.
We do not. It's only used for plowing once per year for our annual plow event that takes place after the wheat harvest sometime in late August or early September. It also would be used in a local tractor show.
There's a possibility you could warp the gas valves if you run it on gas for too long. They don't seat with the head when they are down so the heat isn't wicked away from them like a normal valve. But 1 minute should be fine if it's cold.
hard to believe that you can easily put 15k just int the engine because of how intrictut and complex they where plus very limited parts availability now.
Aah, the beautiful sound of the MD. My dad bought a 1947 model, when i was just a kid. My all time favorite tractor.
We had a 1950md.Overhauled in late 50 with super md sleeves and pistons. Pulled 3 14 plow packer and press drill for years. Loved that tractor.
Que maravilla!

The IH gas start Diesels are unique and awesome. I’ve got a 49 MD it’s great on rides! Yours is great looking! Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Beautiful tractor, sounds great.
Nice job on the restoration! Smooth red power!
My grandma is smiling right now. Thanks for this. 🇺🇸
Beautiful MD, thanks for the video! I could smell the diesel mixed with fresh turned dirt..almost🍻🇺🇸
I just love the rolling diesel smoke! Thanks for watching, Dan.
Beautiful Tractor! It runs as good as it looks. 👍😎

Wow it looks like it was brand new! What a fabulou Tractor!

Beautiful restoration!!!
Made that Super MD snort in a few places. Nice looking tractor. 🚜🚜
Thanks, Tom! There were some spots that pulled hard, as you can see. I sure do love seeing that diesel smoke coming out of the stack!
You got yourself a new subscriber!I have watched your videos for a while now, but just have the opportunity now to subscribe

I had a 54. It was a tough tractor and not hard on fuel.
I had a 54 Super MD Stage 2. I pulled 4-14s in 3rd gear. I cultivated with a 461 4 row. It worked all day on less than 20 gallons of fuel.
That’s why they called them Farmalls. You could farm all day on a tank of fuel.
Beautiful tractor!
I love my super MD it runs amazing
Darn good running tractor. 😊

Gotta love those full-hybrids :D

Dad had the WD-6. He didnt like it but sure did.
Beautiful tractor and plow. That MD needs a TA. 😁
Awesome we had 3 super m
The good old Tractors 😊👍
Kinda surprised it would start for an operator wearing a green shirt. 😂
What's wrong with Olivers?
The shirt was a John Deere shirt.

back in the harness
Thats a nice looking machine and runs great too , Dumb question here what happens if you run it on gas ?
The gas tank is very small. Only for starting and warming it up.
@@scottrayhons2537 Wasnt sure thank you !

@@turnwell9530 Ok thank you !
Somebody challenged IH engineers to come up with a bigger clusterf@ck than the Torque Amplifier.
PRESTO! MDS AND WDS AND TDS!
Didn't they have a Super M T/A last year production?
Next door neighbor had a 400 that started this way.
Nice runner. Got a little greed there at first, one gear too high. Once you dropped a gear, she did great!
The operator was running in a faster gear to roll some smoke for the camera. Normally he was plowing in that lower gear. Thanks for watching!
Yep, that what I figured.@@hitterdalplowing1987 🙂
Does that change the horse power rattling?
The gas engine is only used to start the Diesel engine, so no, it doesn't change the horsepower rating. Thank for watching!

Would you consider selling it?
Hi. Sorry, we wouldn't want to sell this tractor.
I like your John Deere shirt, now we know where your heart lies.
That's about the limit for Johnny Pop.. A Shirt..
4th gear is to fast. Plow all day long in third.
Thanks for watching, Robert. He doesn't normally plow that fast. He was just plowing this fast so as generate a bit of diesel smoke for the video.
