- We've been doing lots of home renovation and improvement projects for the past few weeks, and it has all been in preparation for the main course: The backyard mountain bike trails! Today, we build the Berm Peak Express, a climbing trail that ends at the summit of my property.

Get stake flags, they are perfect for building and can be taken out later or left in to let the rider know where the trail is

I'm envisioning something similar to "The Hub" at Coler Park in Bentonville. A big platform with multiple roll ins for different trails.

i think instead of flags, he could just get wooden stakes to paint, or metal stakes with wood on them. That way they're way more weather resistant, while still showing where to go and having the practicability of flags
@Anthony Murphy no because theyre only being used to mark where hes going to make the trail, unless he needs it to permanently mark the trails line. Either eay they wouldn't be any more of a hazard than the trees around em

Been re-watching the Berm Peak series from top to bottom. Forgot that this all started years ago from nothing. Now the trail system is nearly (or fully) complete. Very inspiring, love watching Seth's had work pay off. Absolutly love this channel. This is the life I want to live.

At 8:10 I love how Seths dog follows behind SOOOOOO CUTE
What I have found to work really well for flagging new trails in N.H. is Dig Safe flags. Easy to see the line you are building because they stick into the ground and reusable. They come in varying colors. Pick them up as you go. Easier than surveyors tape. If your mind changed on a route, simply pick them up an re-route. The other tool I like to use is a low powered dirt bike to burn the trail in. I know that is taboo to most Mountain Bikers. (I don't have dozens of friends to come over and ride in the loops). Compacts the earth, exposes roots and rocks and no need to rake the trail. Just compact down all the earth and very low impact to the trail overall. Looking forward to more builds. :)

- and there are signs at the strat of each trail

You can get ground marking stakes that have flags at about any home improvement/hardware store. You stick them in the ground and take them out to reuse them when you're done

Seth, I don't want to go through 2,500 comments to see if anybody mentioned this already, but we generally use pin flags for trail layout. Reusable, pretty cheap and versatile. Also, great to see Drama being a trail dog!
