He needs to start at ground zero for safety stuff. Gloves, steel toes, chaps that fit, safety glasses and ear protection. He won't require the helmet in 95% of the work he's doing (ground cutting), so it is easier to have all the protection as individual items.
@@capelde Chaps are typically one size fits all or are made to only cover knees and above. He doesn't necessarily need the helmet however it could save him from saw kickback. I run one of them helmets but I took the face shield off and just wear glasses, shooting glasses that came with a bb gun to be exact lol
This series is awesome! As said before, you’re the one that got me into MTB. Now, I’m building my own pump track/jump track in my own backyard and am trying to learn to wheelie. Thanks for introducing me to this amazing sport!
Hey man, I have been watching for a bit and I gotta say this is the best mountain biking channel right now, your narrating is amazing. Love your videos, stay healthy and stay strong.
Me: Sees that BC is building a trail My brain: ROAD TRIP TO CANADA Me: but that’s like 20 hours My brain: WHO CARES LETS GO RIDE THAT TRAIL WHEN ITS DONE YAAAAAYYY
I don't know if you will see this. But your GoPro footage is so perfect. I struggle to get the right settings with mine so the videos don't turn out grainy and pixelated. Could you guys do a video on your GoPro camera set up, what settings you use and what you do edit and export your videos so they are clear and crisp. I'm sure there's more people then me that want to know your tips and tricks. Cheers guys!
Man you’re so lucky, I live in New England and you’re either building with top soil and rocks or digging at least a foot down past rocks to get to “gold”
I've made my own backyard trail here in Maine. Check it out its on my channel! A large portion of my terrain is pretty much a series of slick rock with a few inches of loam on it, no chance of doing a bench cut. So it's a pretty direct downhill trail lol.
i love your videos btw they are so interesting keep chasing your dreams and i especcially love your channel because you can ride trails in lockdown so keep uploading fabulous content
Being a graphic designer I am embarrassed to say I just now only realized your logo is a chain link link shape... after watching your videos for years, wow. The trail looks awesome by the way!
Hey there Eric, love your videos, as always, and this one is no exception. I can't wait to try out your new trail. Hopefully meet you to personally tell you what a great job you and your wife are doing. Keep up the awesome videos.
Live, breath, grow everything MTB. Awesome sauce. Build a trail or two and you'll quickly learn to respect what goes into it, for everyone's enjoyment. 🍻
Yeah maybe... but at least anyone can tide these trails because they'll be free to the public. And it doesn't have insane features that most riders don't feel comfortable riding.
One solution is using a wedge. The other solution...which just happens to be my personal favorite...is utilizing rudimentary common sense while cutting (such as: "If I attempt to cut through the midsection of a suspended (at each end) log/fallen tree from the top-down, it will likely bind my bar/chain and make my life more difficult.").
@BCpov Did you factor in drainage for the low spot before the jump? If so, I'm curious of your method. You mentioned it was a natural low spot, but I wonder if the log retaining wall you put in on the downhill side could cause water to pool.
Sorry for the definition but Loam is a soil with roughly equal proportions of sand, silt, and clay. So what's on the surface of the woodland that you are clearing is organic matter and below that is a clay soil. apart from that keep up the good work
“I’ve got a helmet with face and hearing protection”, cuts to him cutting without either the face guard or hearing protectors down😂
Classic 😂😂as for the chaps probably more yukas size than his😂
And no gloves either .
I was just going to comment that, but you already did

Looking good! That dirt and terrain seems pretty fantastic!

This is looking so cool! cant wait to see more from this series
Brady Sidney I have a channel if you want to see if not that’s fine to. Thanks👍👍
"hand tools just won't *cut it* "

Only like 59 people got that joke? Really.
I’m the 69th like.
Uhh... do they not rent bobcats in BC? Just sayin...

Caleb Davenport I have a channel if you want to see it if not that’s fine to thanks
Lakeside Launchers your channel is great
“I’ve got a helmet with face and hearing protection”, cuts to him cutting without either the face guard or hearing protectors down😂
6:30 I’m glad I’m not the only one with squeaky disc brakes
Always start with step # 3 first. LOL
Straight Facts
“The jungle is a lush forest...”
Me: So is it a jungle or a forest???
I really like the new way in which yuka films you as it helps shoe off the trail better
Genuinely can’t wait to see how sick this is gonna turn out
Ikr!
Hey man, I have been watching for a bit and I gotta say this is the best mountain biking channel right now, your narrating is amazing. Love your videos, stay healthy and stay strong.
I love the trail name! Best of luck to you on the build!
I wish that my name game for my trails was stronger lmao
2:20 The salamander is just so cute
lonely lonely I want that thing as a pet
I need one
I was just going to make this comment🥺🥺
All I've got is junebugs :/
Ikr
This looks so sick, having a bunch of different people working on different sections makes for a really cool trail
Maybe You should dig the "gold mines" further away from trails. Someone could fall in.
Looking good Mate, you got a massive land area there...👍
Me: Sees that BC is building a trail
My brain: ROAD TRIP TO CANADA
Me: but that’s like 20 hours
My brain: WHO CARES LETS GO RIDE THAT TRAIL WHEN ITS DONE YAAAAAYYY
lol
It’s gonna be soooo worn within like two weeks
Boio 15 I live in Australia and it will take about a day flight and I’ll have to hire a bike so I don’t think I’ll be riding this anytime soon lol
I live close so I could actually ride it
Bruh I live about 50 hours away
Yeah, that root plate feature at the end does look pretty neat

i cznt wait to see the final product
Me Too!
So sick I can’t wait
Yes, so cool, i love the series.
What a cool trail! Looks so fun!
I loved the wallride! The only thing is I would add more wood to make the entirety of it made of wood!
Amazing! Can't wait for it to finish!
Great storytelling! Looks fun!
That’s going to be an awesome and unique trail. Keep it up guys. It looks good 👍
Im hyped to watch the trail progress!
You should make the badlands a giant multi-line jump area.
Man you’re so lucky, I live in New England and you’re either building with top soil and rocks or digging at least a foot down past rocks to get to “gold”

We’re I love you need a jackhammer to break dirt
Live
One of the only things I wait for in bcpov's vids is the stay gnarly
Great work guys. Wish I had a couple bikes so me and my wife could go out and ride just like you do. Best wishes. And ride hard guys.
i love your videos btw they are so interesting keep chasing your dreams and i especcially love your channel because you can ride trails in lockdown so keep uploading fabulous content
Well done
This is so rad! What a dream!
Great video, that trails looking rad
Hail! Hail! to all the trail builders of the world. You are doing the lord's work. : )
You should add some wooden pump lines over the trees in the clearing.
Will have to drop in to say hi while you are busy building the trail. Have seen BCPOV camp out around the hood.
Being a graphic designer I am embarrassed to say I just now only realized your logo is a chain link link shape... after watching your videos for years, wow. The trail looks awesome by the way!

Thanks Kelly!
me: oooooo ridable trial made by fav MTB you-tuber!
also me: crap its in Canada
Same with me except rather than not being in Canada, I'm just on the wrong side of it
Trail build time baby!
4 steps to sharpen chainsaw was brilliant. Hahaha. Good work out there!!!
Sick love the look of the trail is there gonna be a designated jump line?
That tree ride is great!
I can’t wait to ride this!
Sharpening the chain was a funny bit 🤣
More please and thanks
Love your 4 steps to sharpening a chainsaw 🤣, the exact mental process every guy goes through when he is winging something new. Keep it up!!!!
Nice work!
Live, breath, grow everything MTB. Awesome sauce. Build a trail or two and you'll quickly learn to respect what goes into it, for everyone's enjoyment. 🍻
i have that same saw, it cuts like butter
Somedays I think I like mountain bike trail buiilding videos more than biking videos.
I feel like this idea came from Seth.
Yeah he's even got all the same stuff
Yeah maybe... but at least anyone can tide these trails because they'll be free to the public. And it doesn't have insane features that most riders don't feel comfortable riding.
That looks sick
very cool i love building trails
#1 overlooked trail building aspect drainage/water run off/ washout.
Hell yeah! Mountain bikes and chainsaws, marriage made in heaven.
Looks so cool
GNARLY!!
I REALLY love the AOE IV hoodie!
Love your AOM 4 tshirt amazonic hugs. Great work
Salamander side slopes 🤘
Love your voice! I would like to share a beer with you... you seem to be a funny guy! 😉👍
so true
Viajandisimo dude so good

fair enough, sometimes you just don't want the saw going into dirt or rocks though!
you might find a smaller electric chian saw easier for smaller jobs because they are lighter and easier to use
The new Seth Bike Hacks
I love your videos so much! you got me into riding my bike again!!!! :o)
Super Cool
As a tip before you saw will stuck pull it out and cut from the other side. Cutting in the dirt will make the blade fast than normal not useable.
If you are very careful not to let the chainsaw hit the dirt, it will stay sharp for much longer. Keep up the great work!
1:34 now that's a lot of damage
Good job
This is the only UA-cam channel that can compete with Seth Bike Hacks
Love your vids
Now I can finally use my Chainsaw thanks Eric :)
Love the videos man I ride in Vermont too well I live there
I always love your videos even when I did not have a UA-cam account
Worst part of clearing dead fall is throwing the cuts off the trail corridor. Husqvarna not Sthil ?! :(
Age of empires is such a good game I like your hoodie
Sick!
It's honestly much easier with a standard sharpening set! Rat tail file with guage... flat file.. and depth guage checker! 😀
james curry a lot of us would beg to differ, but if that’s your thing, go for it
The good question, did you find some gold ?
Good work and good video concept 👍
Nice looking trial that.. My kind of jump too were there's no consciousness if you fail it..
All the mtb youtubers should build a trail together
Get a granfors bruks small forest axe and a pickaroon those tools are great for clearing stuff in addition to a chainsaw
yeah shred this is awesome so sad im from macedonia 😟 keep up the best work my dude oh and you bike is sick(wheres your old one?)
Soo nice drop, gretings from toluca México, im start in enduros world and its so magic.
I love u videos
Rly good
Once you are able to answer move onto oregonni would recommend trying out sandy ridge bike park!
Great vis
Maybe call some fans to ride it that would be aweasome!!!
Greetings from México!!!
My god, when he cut to the salamander I thought he cut his hand pretty bad. 🤣
You should use a flat shovel for compacting it's way better and easier
@BCpov Did you factor in drainage for the low spot before the jump? If so, I'm curious of your method. You mentioned it was a natural low spot, but I wonder if the log retaining wall you put in on the downhill side could cause water to pool.
My guy if you have that ear and eye pro you gotta use it lol. Keep those senses sharp!
Sorry for the definition but Loam is a soil with roughly equal proportions of sand, silt, and clay.

apart from that keep up the good work
You're correct, the correct term for what im describing is duff. But for some reason the mtb world has changed it to loam *shrug*
