I have a z06 I love my Z06 it is in no way an equal comparison to the ZR1 the C6 ZR1 is better in every way I believe that's why they came out with the carbon Edition ZO6 for track use
The c6 z06 is roughly 50-70 lbs heavier than the c5 z06 depending on the year, with most of the weight difference being rotating weight in the larger wheels/tires/brakes. I was able to make a 11.8s 1/4 mile pass with a very modest 2900 rpm launch in my c5 z06 with just a cold air intake, a/c delete and light weight battery relocated to the rear, and nitto nt01 road race tires. It's certainly got the power and the tech but cars being under 3000 lbs is becoming a thing of the past. Often times I hear the new generation of cars guys referring to 3400 lb cars as light weight.

Yes it is an amazing V8 that is legitimately one of the best ever, but I’d have to pick the ford 03/04 4.6 terminator as the most legendary monster slayer of all time! that motor was an absolute engineering marvel it’s still to this day considered one of if not the best V8s offered in a production car.you see a terminator on the street and there still feared and highly respected and there’s a reason for that…… I’m a dodge guy though long live the HEMI and long may she reign supreme 😈!!!

Bruh. you have the perfect voice for this!!!!
C7 Z06 is underrated!! Too much hype still around the C6 Z06s & C6 ZR1s in the community!!
The only thing I love about the c7 z06 is that it’s the last front engine and the only BOOSTED z06 EVER!
And you can get a 7 speed manual.
The C6 Z06 is one of the VERY few domestic cars that I REALLY like.
The c6 z06 is obviously the family favorite but don't sleep on the c5z's, they're not that far behind. Time will tell how the new kid on the block, the c8 Z06, will favor. It's certainly got the power and the tech but cars being under 3000 lbs is becoming a thing of the past. Often times I hear the new generation of cars guys referring to 3400 lb cars as light weight.
Can't update c6 with lightweight rims and brake rotor?
The C6 Z06 keeps carrying me in every gran Tourismo game
Thank you for doing such a nice job of laying everything out.
Great technical data video. As the owner of a ‘17 Z06/z07 as well as a ‘19 Z06, I can confirm they are probably the best bang for the buck that I’ve ever driven. Been on the C8 Z list for 3 years now and chomping at the bit for my order to be built.
The Chevrolet Corvette, a timeless icon of American automotive engineering, has proven its dominance on racetracks around the world. Engineered with precision and passion, the Corvette embodies the spirit of competition and the pursuit of excellence. Its legendary performance and iconic design are a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of American automotive manufacturers and makes me proud Im an American.
😊
Ah! I remember learning something about this watching Speed Racer. When they came across the GRX, it was so powerful, that it put the driver into a trance or into the 4th dimension or something. So of course corvettes are the most powerful cars that ever existed, so that must be why they are so dangerous.
Most powerful that ever existed?? What you mean In the United States right? Because there are several cars that are leagues faster and have been for years. Hell the new engine is biased on the flat plane Lamborghini design.
listen to me man im so glad your channel exist and you deserve alot more followers, cause you moving the culture forward . cause im dead sick nd tired of ol boy on tiktok talking out of his ass on every video he make . And i know YOU know WHO im talking about
Trick Intake Manifold! Haha....Ford has been using active Intake runners since 1993 in both the V6 and V8. The V6 is called a Split Port because of this flapper valves that activate runners. Same with the 4 6L DOHC
and the LS was a copycat of the 351 Cleveland in the heads but Chevy just made them better but exactly Chevy loves to copy Ford, and all the Chevy sheep fall for it.. which is most of the gearheads in America these days
Yea fords blow.
@@rono3045 Are you saying Ford has never improved upon a competers design.
@@lc6785 there's only one small block out of the big three that would shut down all Big blocks and that was Ford and they're 351 Cleveland Chevy didn't have a small block Dodge didn't have a small block that would run a quarter mile that fast and this is back before nitrous this is motor for motor buddy
@@rono3045 You did not answer my original question and I'm not trying to start a keyboard fight. Check out the GM 302 and what Ford did after GM started production of their 302 and why.
Oh shit that clip at 2:19 looks familiar 👀
The words “fuel savings” and “sports car “ do not belong in the same sentence
Explain that to the EPA…
When this guy starts talking about the c6 z06, if u don't feel the real life motivation something is wrong 💪🏾💪🏾
Wonderful video. Loved the in depth highlights of each generation.
They even destroy their own valves ;)
Just playin, the C6Z is a dream car for me and has been since I was a kid and is one of the few cars I’d take over a GT350
Fun Fact: At the 2001, 24 Hours of Daytona. The C5-Rs outlasted the prototypes in the field and earned themselves the OVERALL race victory!
The last sentence ends up the only one that matters in the real world.
This was a great video man
Excellent presentation, Sit, well done!
I just don't like how it looks like ferrari now, i prefer the longer hood
I really like your channel, and how you break down the history of different brands
That 'no racing ' agreement included Ford and Chrysler, but they reneged. GM was worried about 'anti trust laws ' in the US. Some overseas subsidiaries were heavily involved in road racing, from 1969 to 2017.
Awesome video bud, you got me wanting to upgrade my 2001 camaro for a LS3 engine.
360 horse power in 1963 was absolutely nuts, insane, crazy!
Great video, only correction is that the C8Z is an 8 speed dual clutch, not 10 speed. Chevy’s 10 speed is a single clutch unit not available in any Corvettes
Agreed. The video also incorrectly stated that the C7 Z06 model with the automatic 8-speed has cylinder deactivation. The manual 7-speed also has cylinder deactivation. The driver simply has more control over when the deactivation occurs in the manual variant. Also, the video thumbnail graphic itself incorrectly displays a C7 ZR1, not a C7 Z06. I'm starting to think this guy may not be a reliable source of info.
And I’m one of those guys. There’s no Z06 I’d rather have than the C6. Loved the C5 Z too.
When I was 20, I had a 3kGTVR4 , and my buddy had a 91 ZR1. He took me for a ride down all of rt. 2 in CT , a 25 min ride, in 6 min, at 200mph! 😆.... I learned that day what real speed was.....
That’s a BIG “if” 😂
4:20 its just a SLIGHTLY stroked 400 small block....... (with a lot of modern tech)
.
but people say the 400 SB isnt a performance engine are just dead wrong
i own two of them.... and even BONE STOCK.... it MOVES my 77 k10 with full time 4 wheel drive
I putted one in my 1978 Malibu classic who came with the painfully slow 305/ 4bbl. It was a blast!! LOL! The easiest swap ever.
Love the C5-C7 hate the C8 body style
The C8 Z06 is bad ass !
We still have LS engined Monaro and VXR coupe’s running around here some with Supercharged 600bhp motors. Standard they pushed between 400 and 500 bhp model depending. They were a darned site cheaper than the ZO5 or ZO6 and were really the ultimate attainable and accessible V8 powerhouse at under £35K new. Main issue these days is poor economy and emissions are pricing or forcing them all off the roads in Europe. We do still get to keep our vee twin European bikes from 20 years back with still more power to weight than most supercars today! Even back in the day, Big Aprilia vee twins were making 130bhp/litre.
LS engines typically get quite a bit better highway MPG than BMWs are NIssan GT-Rs for example that have similar peak power. Search 40MPG (thats 48 UK MPG I think) Eco Covette on here. Thats if geared accordingly and if you dont stomp on the pedal though 😆
Thanks!
Thanks for this video, I post respectable lap times around the Nürburgring in a 2009 Z06
Can you do a vid explaining transmissions?
Yup very soon. That topic comes up a lot and I’ll cover it.
Is it going to be oem only t56, tr6060 etc. Or aftermarket like doug nash, gforce, liberty? (Manual fanboy here)
It is somewhat amusing to me that you used a ZR1 for the thumbnail.
Love the C6 and C7 ZO6🔱
