@@michaelwilliams5506 Nice Michael! I searched for three years for that color on a good Car. Flew half way across Canada to look at it. Bought it, and had an epic 4000 km trip home. Has a spot in my heated (Canada eh) garage, next to my Boss 302. Man cars are awesome again! Here's to better 2021 and more miles on our Z's Michael :-)
It bothers me how Europeans look down on the push-rod engine. They call it primitive. But do you know how many times that "Primitive" 7.0L beast won Le Mans? It's not primitive! It's elegant. It's the best damn V8 ever made.
Actually you can forget the pop up headlights. They're trash. Had a C5 and they were nothing but a headache on an otherwise great car. Have a C6 GS now and love the fixed headlights lol
Mike Bergmann nah, not going to forget them, they were cool. The headlights on the C6 look like ass. Basically an afterthought cause Chevy didn’t know what to do. They did a much better job on integrating the headlights on the C7
I know exactly what you mean - I owned a C5 Z06 for several years and loved it, then thought about upgrading to a C6 Z06 so I bought one of those but after owning both for a couple of months I decided to stick with the C5 (sold the C6). The C6 is a bland driving experience next to the C5 because it lacks that visceral personality that comes with the C5.
I have a C5 Z06 and C7 Z06, and I agree with everything said on this rather informative review except the negative comment on the C5’s looks. Even sitting next to my C7 I am still amazed at how nice my 03 looks.
Everytime I have my C6Z at one of the local Cars and Coffee and there's a C5Z there I always catch myself thinking how good they STILL look and wondering why I don't have one.
@@joshlane3704 Well the way I see it allot of the C7Z06 ,ZR1 and C8 Owners are Egotistical Jerks who think they are above all other Corvette Owners F UM !
I will not die until I have an HCI C6 z06 and a gen 2 viper in my garage. After that I’ll die probably wrapping the viper round a tree but that’s a good way to go in my book
@@trashbandit2449 lol, no bro. I meant I have thought that I cannot die until I have a HCI C6Z, and an early Viper. That's what I meant. The dying thing, no. I have been racing in ST2/TT2 for too long to go out like that :) I just meant I found a car (E type Jag) that I want way more than any car ever before.
@@erikolson5299 yes I understood that, I was just saying that's comparing apples to oranges, classic to modern. Why do you like the e type? I don't know much about them
I love my C6 ZO6. Absolutely a bad ass car and I love to drive it. The only way I’d ever even consider getting rid of it would be for a C6 ZR1 or a new C7 ZO6. But it’s hard because that 7.0L LS7 is just awesome throughout the entire power band. Something about having that 427” under the hood just rocks.
c6 z06 is my favorite but the c5 is very impressive as well as the c7. if the c5 isnt enough for you, cams and coilovers will bring it to life, my buddy used to have a cammed c5 z06 and it was a monster
You don’t even need to get the coilovers. Some bilstein shocks or the 04 c5 z04 changes completely the car. You can also lower it and use the c6 z06 shocks and handles incredibly well. Coilovers are on another complete level though.
@@moiv8 you can get a good set of coilovers like silvers or fortune auto.... for $1300 to $1500...... coilovers get rid of the "cross talk" from the monoleaf's so even more stablity in the corners... it took me some time to get my C5 Z06 sorted out.. but a few grand later and your a HPDE day hero... all in I've got about 21k into a killer RELIABLE track car...
I bought my 04 C5Z 8 months ago. At that time it had 51K on the clock. I’m at 62 now. Stock except for headers/exhaust/mild tune. (Previous owner installed those) Hands down the best car I’ve owned, and it only gets better. No issues whatsoever, except for a door lock actuator, which was cheap and easy to replace. Not the fastest car, nor the most refined, but you’re getting a bulletproof street car, which can handle a track with no issues, for less than the price of a new Civic. Not to mention the simplicity of it all; In a world of lane keep assists, automatic braking, automatic rev matching, etc, this is truly a car that gives you an uninterrupted driving experience. One of the last of its kind.
I know of a 04 z06 for $18k with 60k on the clock. I want to buy it so bad. Not into newer cars with all of the nanny assists. *Forgot to mention it is stock, garaged and only got wet from a water hose.*
@@blueblade455 I picked up an 03 supercharged making 550whp and had a little bit of a rough time getting used to it, but just start slow and smooth and it wont be the end of the world. My car is pushing what the stock clutch can hold so I knew I had to be careful. If you have that mindset of starting careful, slow and smooth you'll be fine. If I can do it you can! :)
I bought my C5Z in 2006 for $20,000. First car I ever tracked. Still tracking it 15 years later. Its faster now and I'm faster now but it still crazy that I can be competitive in the fast groups with the same car for such a long period of time. Most importantly, after some mods, the car is dead reliable on track. I can beat on it all day and it just works. Underrated quality.
I've owned a 1988 Corvette Z51, a 1991 Corvette ZR-1 and currently own a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V. Such great performance cars. GM knows what they are doing even if they are not supercars. Bang for the buck is real. I am so looking forward to the C8 Z06. Thanks for the Vlog. Love all Corvette generations!
That rumble of the Corvette when cruising is like a lullaby to me. It sounds so soothing I can hear it all day like a background white noise. I love these cars, I really do.
When I saw one of the very few C6 Z06 in my country I was hooked and bought it immediately with just 4K miles from the guy who imported it. Now I have an almost new 911 Carrera T too and I love the engineering and the interior of the car. But it’s my full bolt on Z06 that make me laugh from the moment I push the start button. I drive the Porsche like I drive my wife’s Honda, but the Z06 it’s an event itself just to go out with it.
same here lol, I guess its that RAW V8 and its sound what does the difference (for me at least) im going back from modded (loud!) 911 turbo to C6 now lol and got some spare money left after that trade whats also nice. the 911 is one hell of a car and sharp like a razor, but yeah it just not gives u THAT feeling the vette does. I remember it sounded like the asphalt tearin up bc of the car, so brute was the feeling u got inside.
I just heard a new phrase describing the best budget car "The most Accord you can afford." and I think we can re-word the phrase describing the best sports car "The most Corvette you can get."
I drove a C7 automatic and I was was completely blown away by its split personality with the press of a button..... to date it's the fastest I've ever been in a car....154mph.
Tood Anderson just got to tell the old lady heads and cam is a requirement, for safety and reliability of course... My exhaust valves are still fine, sitting in the heads on my shelf.🤨
Typical valve comment. Let's see it only effected less then 10% of production years 06-13. Mine. Put on 30k. Tracked it over 10 track day events. And zero problems. And if something were to happen to it. I can afford it. So yeah.
Yes, typical valve comment.. the ls7 is plagued with many issues. I ended up selling my c6z (fixed heads) due to the numerous outcomes that result in me sinking 10k+ in a new longblock. Not much fun tracking a car with a ticking time bomb!
Week one almost complete with my first Corvette-02’ C5 garage queen with 33,000 miles-paid just over low book. After her jailbreak we did burnouts to get aquatinted, then on to the twisties for some handling pleasure. The smooth, powerful LS1 with that lovely torque on the high end really is a great all around package. Love this car! Great review thanks very much.
@@Beezy_Builds really? I don't - living in the triangle south of Munich / Augsburg, beautiful country side but no Corvettes here. I know them from the US only.
I've watched this three times today. Can't get enough! Love how these cars bring out the little boys in you guys. I can feel the joy. You've made me want one! I'll take the C6 Z06 please 😁
A year ago I bought my first Corvette. Local dealer have a brand new C7 Z51 7M that was on the verge of seeing it's 2nd birthday in the showroom. When it advertised at $20k off MSRP, I just had to pull the trigger. Torch Red 2LT w/PDR, Carbon Flash accents with optional wheels (machined faces). With 460 HP and the last of the manuals, I'm in heaven every time I take it out. Bang for the buck combined with smiles for miles.
@@EverydayDriver I really enjoy your videos...whether it's performance cars or Subaru Ascents, it's all good. BTW, how tough was it for Paul to utter the words, "The Corvette is actually very good"? ;^)
Sign me up for a C6 Z06 with ported and polished heads, cam, ported MSD intake, full exhaust and have a 650-680 whp NA 427 Corvette. I've driven a cam swapped C6 Z06 and it was unbelievable.
06 TrailblazerSS I own a Lingenfelter built car: heads/CAM, 1 7/8 headers. 537WHP. MSD + 103mm TB would be another 35WHP MAX. e85 conversion would add another 40WHP. More aggressive CAM: 30WHP. Therefore: 642WHP is maximum you can can get out of this car at least on the Dyno Dynamics dyno.
@@timmietz I have a Trailblazer with an 11.8 CR 416ci LS3 with WCCH heads 240/250 .623 .617 cam 1 7/8" headers and etc. That still doesn't change what RPM makes repeatedly with their head and cam package. They have the record for stock bottom end C6 Z06 so I don't know what to tell you.
Lifelong Corvette fan here, so I really enjoyed this video! I just bought my first one (at age 55) a few months ago - and I went for a 38k-mile C6 Grand Sport - 6-speed manual Coupe. That got me the Z06's gorgeous wide body, wider wheels/tires & larger brakes, a suspension setup that's somewhere between the base C6 and the Z06, and the dry-sump 6.2L LS3 engine (hand-assembled at GM's Wixom Performance Build Center (before it was moved to Bowling Green) alongside the Z06 and ZR-1 engines. That put me squarely between the C5 Z06 and the C6 Z06 horsepower/torque-wise, but with the better interior, better overall fit & finish, and better ride quality of the C6 (though I still love the looks of the C5 too). I was tempted to go C6 Z06, but wanted to stay in the mid $30k price range and I didn't want to have to deal with the LS7 valvetrain issues (surprised this serious issue wasn't mentioned in the video) - even though it's relatively easy to fix (for another $3k or so). I've already autocrossed my GS at a couple of events and plan to do an occasional HPDE. It's a sweet car!
Hats off to GM. They stayed true to their promise of producing a Sports car which is a competitor to Euro Sports cars but at a fraction of what they cost.
Not really a fan of the C5 but love the C6 and C7's. I had a factory ordered Torch Red 2016 C7 Z06 and owned it for 5 1/2 years. Due to my recent retirement and the high resale of these I sold it earlier this year. Loved driving the car especially with the top down!
@@n8mike The last Vett had active rev matching. That shit was plenty fast. I say plenty because of course you are right. Auto is faster. But so is sitting in the passenger seat and letting a pro drive the whole damn thing for you. At some point I wanna step in and do the work myself just for the satisfaction of the thing.
@@marchardesty3310 The manual transmission adds driver connection to the car. I like rowing my own gears especially when you want to downshift and hear your exhaust gurgle.
2004 C5 Z06 owner here. I got mine as the special le mans commemorative edition and I love it. I think it looks better then the c6-7-8. But for the best performance I would take the c6 zo6 anyday. A 427 7.0L LS7 will make any man smile any day. Plus it handles the best in my opinion. The C7 Z06 feels wrong as a track car with that supercharger displacing the weight and the early C7s had major issues with their engines. Also that stuff about the interior that everyone rags on? Massively overstated. The C5, while kinda cheap plastic and crappy leather, holds together and is actually pretty comfortable to ride in. I rode in it all the way from New Hampshire to Virginia. The C4 is much harder to sit in, but not many rag on it. Plus it is pretty easy to change a lot of the interior of the C5 to look and feel modern. I Love all corvettes though. I would take any of them over most other cars.
Bought my supercharged lowered C5 in Jersey drove none stop, except for gas, 10 hrs. to s.e. Mi. with a bad back. When I got home I could still get out of the car and walk. Nice ride.
I have a 2004 C5Z commerative edition & I love the damn thing. I was 12 when it came out & have always wanted that one specifically because back then I was a HUGE fan of racing stripes lol. When I drove it for the first time I said the same thing essentially. The car doesn’t feel 15+ years old at all. I had never driven a Vette before the first test drive & afterwards I understood why some people love them so much. It exceeded my expectations. That being said, the C6Z & C7Z are definitely on my list! #GottaCatchEmAll
I'm glad you did too. I was looking at the Elise and Boxster/Cayman as an upgrade from an S2000. My buddy turned me on to Chevy and GM as a whole and also lowered trucks last year and now I have a GMC as a daily and haven't looked back. That being said my next sports car has to be a C6 Z06!
Love my C6 Z06 with the LS7, 427 carbon fiber option. One of only 252 produced. Mildly modified by LG Motorsports with cam, stainless headers, k&n air filter, dyno tuned to 580hp. Currently at 42k miles with no valve guide, head problems. Black on black with Forgeline wheels fitted with Michelin 345/30 non run flat delivering a much quieter, more compliant ride with better grip than oem Goodyear F1 eagles. In 2020, rotors turned, pads replaced with ceramic carbon composite delivered amazing stopping power with greatly reduced brake dust over oem pads. Clutch master cylinders have a propensity to fail. I'm on my 3rd. Purchased new, it is still a great car and still scary fast. ❤️
The guy who sold me my current '90 Miata also owned a '02 Z06 in Electron Blue. While blue isn't my favorite color, that particular shade of blue on that specific car looks damn sweet. He no longer has the Z06, btw - and he replaced it with a CLS550, of all things. OTOH, since selling me the Miata he's bought two more Miatas since then. And the one he sold to me was his second Miata!
I actually have always preferred and liked the C5 Z06 the best. I like the styling & the flip up headlights. Just my personal preference. Saw one a couple years ago in Ohio. Lovely blue color & awesome red calipers B)
Bear in mind, the Nurburgring in 2003 was standing start and that's 2003 era rubber. Put Cup 2's on it and a flying start and you've got 15 sec across a lap at the ring, for certain. I've owned 7 Corvettes, and do mostly C5 and C6 content on my channel...even have some parts specifically for those cars coming, available nowhere else. I am glad this video did the car justice or I'd have to get live...lol.
I love the scenery where you guys film. It reminds me of where I grew up in Alaska. It’s sad to know there’s people who watch this channel who have probably never seen wilderness and beauty like that because they’ve spent their entire lives in cities surrounded by concrete and steel. Everyone should be able to enjoy and experience driving through the wilderness like this at some point in their lives. Nothing beats a great road through the countryside and mountains.
I've had my C6Z for nearly 10 years & covered over 105Kmi. Still in love with it. Very few issues, interior still looks newish...Just did the plugs, belts, wires and C packs. New Michelin 4Ss (if their good enough for Gordon M., good enough for me) and TPMSs soon to be replaced. Can't recommend this car highly enough. But, they're ALL GREAT cars. And the new C8Z should be greater some more!🍻
I've got a '19 Z06 and I absolutely love it, it is definitely more capable than I am as a driver. Honestly the toughest thing about driving the car is that I love to row gears, and even by 2nd gear you're already exceeding any speed limit here in the States. I have the carbon race brakes, and the competition seats and nothing I've ever driven inspires the confidence that this car does, this a dream come true.
@oneslackr I do still have it, thanks for asking, and still love it very much. I did just ride in my first C8 Z06 a couple weeks ago, and I was blown away. It's definitely a completely different car. I thought the C7 interior was decent, but the C8 is so much nicer, completely different sound too (of course). I'm going to keep mine, I'd love to get the new one, but I don't have anywhere to put it lol.
@@Biebs74 : That's cool. Hang on to your Z because the manuals aren't coming back. l still have my '18 Z06/Z07 M7 that I bought during the summer of '18. Great car but I barely have time to drive it. But like you I don't have any plans to get rid of my Z. Not to mention the fact that I think the C8 Z06 prices are ridiculous but that's another story.
Really happy people here still absolutely love the c5 FRCs I have a 2000 FRC and man I cannot stop staring at this thing. (Keep in mind I’ve owned it for about 2 weeks) it’s absolutely mind blowing how amazing this car is STILL holds up to new “sports cars” stock for stock.
My first Corvette is a 2018 Corvette GrandSport Convertible LT3. She's red, torch read with a tan interior. I've taken her to Angeles Crest Highway(new fav road in so-cal) also Asuza 39 2nd favorite only cause it's closer to me than Angeles Crest Highway. I cant stand driving in stop and go traffic so the canyons are my fun get-aways. Anyway, I've been eyeing a C5 red convertible. That long hood with the pop-out headlights is one hell of a sexy ass car in my opinion. I love how sleek and smooth and slippy in the wind it looks. I'm also eyeing a blacked out, C5 Z06 with an LS7. I would love to cam that sucker and install a borla Atak cat-back with high-flow cats and a tune. I'm a big fan of corvettes and I hope when things go back to normal after Rona, I can get them other gen vettes in my garage.
I love my '03 C5. I'm semi-retired and 67 now and I realize my senses and reaction times are not what they used to be. I have no plans to find out where my C5's limits are. I just thoroughly enjoy cruising in it and doing the occasional on-ramp blast.
I ended up buying a 2016 Z06, 3LZ, convertible, in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic, with body colored vents, and carbon exposed hood. It is awesome! Thanks again for the video!
Ahhh Symphony music to my ears those Corvette engines! Just bought a 2016 Z06 R-edition. Had little over 600 miles on it, think I'm gonna keep it for life!
Great video! I sold my C6 Z51 and miss it everyday! I’m just waiting for the C7 Z06 to depreciate enough for me to buy one in a 7-speed manual! The Corvette is a great car....and I’ll continue to buy them for years to come!
The c5 & 6 where the pinnacle of the Zo6 model , they focused on normally aspirated horsepower, lightweight & raw feel , the c7 generation lost it's way , numb steering feel, a supercharged engine (more weight), also over heated after 3 hard laps around a track & A 7 speed speed Manuel transmission 😱
I have had 1 C6 Z06 and 2 C7 Z06s with manuals. Never had a problem on or off the track with overheating. Numb steering? None of them had that either. With the C7s pick a mode for steering feedback. The M7 is a great gearbox again... on or off the track. There is no question that they are all great cars but the C7 is the pinnacle of the Z06 to date.
DDG YOU ARE 100% RIGHT. Marc I know what you are saying is the popular comment among gearheads about staying true to American muscle roots, but that means you've never driven the c7z otherwise your opinion would quickly change because nothing has been lost on the C7.... it is quite a leap forward over its predecessors while staying true to its roots, Regardless of newer technology. It has not lost any of its raw, American Corvetteness. Just ask anyone who's driven both or owned both. Just wondering but since when does adding a supercharger diminish its American muscle heritage. I am all about NA as well but when a supercharger fits...eg.SVT Cobra (Terminator) and SVT F-150⚡? Collectibles today. Anyway that's my opinion and you got yours.
I have a 2016 3lt Z51 with a supercharger Dyno at over 650 up and 650 ft pounds of torque with a 7 speed manual I love the Rev match I use it all the time it works good upshifting too
It’s my opinion that the C6 is the ideal corvette. It just has the look. It has the sound. Round tail lights, smooth edges. I love it. Then again, they came out when I was like 5? Maybe it’s just the woah factory from being a kid carrying over, but I still see the C6 as my favorite corvette, even with the C8 being around.
@@trashbandit2449 too expensive, and in C6 guise not as good of a drivers car, less reliable, more consumables, and in C7 guise, as they have said, way too much car for the road. I'd even argue that the C7 Z06 is too much for most people. Just for comparison, a C7 Z51 can out preform a stock C6 Z06. These cars are getting completely nuts and it's amazing!
Feel like the badges are for the future, when HP and ICE vehicles are no longer on the road. I think it will be cool to see the badge, esp since there won’t be many on the road 30+ years down the line
Awesome comparison of the three Generations.. My wife and I did a frame off restoration of a 1963 Corvette Split Window. It's a 327/340 hp with power windows. In January 2018 we bought a 2016 Stingray with 12,200 miles on it. It's an 8 speed automatic. Love the 1963 but what a difference driving the 2016 Stingray. C6 Z06 alllll the way! That big, nasty, naturally aspirated 7.0L pushrod V8 just does it for me! Power everywhere, torque down low and power all the way to 7,000 RPM! Phew! One for the books!
C5 Z06 owner, corvette dreamer since 70's just got mine 30k miles still breaking it in and living the dream ,torch red with red and black interior hate red cars but I love this car
Love the engine, love the drivetrain, but the body though good ain’t as good as the c5 and c6 for me. And this go’s for any corvette and most cars built anymore. They need to shed some weight. A 2700 pound corvette would be sick. Even 2900 would be better
Alot of folks are missing a few things here... if you "tinker" with cars... you get the best of everything in a C5z.... all 3 have some issues... C5's have rear end and clutch issues..... c6 have cylinder head issues and connecting rod failure with titanium galling.... and the C7 had track cooling issues (for the 15-16 years) when pressed hard.. but once sorted out... they are very reliable HPDE track weapons.. I choose a C5Z because of how low and sleek it looks... Videos dont do it justice... you have to walk up on one to realize it... now.. what I did was rebuilt the rearend... put in a really good twin disc clutch... used a C6Z engine cradle..... bought some stuff from AMT motorsports.... Silvers.... Pfadt.... improved racing.....Dewitt's... Mast .... cam motion.... LG motorsport.... and then i spent time improving on the most important part of the car...... the nut behind the wheel....
It’s 2024 and I still think the C5 Corvette is where it’s at. The last of the pop up lights , that’s the purest Corvette for me. A friend of mine lent me his C4 convertible back in the late 90’s when I was a teenager and I thought I was a rockstar and figured one day I’d grab one. Don’t really want to spend the money to buy a C7 but I like the the last yr of the C5 w/ the pop up notably the Z06 which is plenty fast for me and just has beautiful lines. Looking forward to it this summer. These cars are just bargains and still look really damn good !
I will be honest, I was never a Corvette fan to begin with. After watching American Original and listening to the podcast however, I am now a fan of the Corvette to the point where I would want to own one at some point
I put 100k+ on my C5 ZO6...i thanked God every day multiple times as I walked to and from that car. ..best car in the world..oh well Our Lord giveth and taketh away. ..all Glory be to Our Lord Jesus...
I would love to see this same format with a C5, C6 and C7 base model. I drive a C7 manual with no Z-51 package and no magnetic ride control and I think it is an amazing bargain performance car. I even tracked this car and had a blast.
The main thing that has changed since this video is the prices, that $18,000 they keep touting for the c5 z06, is more like $30,000, but they are truly awesome cars and worth that price. I drive a millennium yellow 04 and it's more than enough car for most drivers, I like the looks of the FRC and no leaks and no squeaks!
Eco Mode: In January of ‘17, I bought a 2014 base 1LT Z51 C7 with 20k miles. It had the standard aftermarket “upgrades” from the previous owner- AFE air box and exhaust from Kinney Muffler (Dallas area). Pretty close to straight pipes- no mufflers that I can see. The sound is GLORIOUS, but this is also my DD. Any trip over 10 miles, and I’m deaf. Easy fix: I keep it in Eco mode, so whenever I’m not flooring it, cylinder deactivation kicks in from 4th gear and above, below certain RPMs and the decibels are livable. Serene even. I don’t know if these first production runs of the C7 generation are meant to run on four cylinders for extended periods without causing some form of engine damage - I know that the belt tensioners are a common failure and mine quit within the first 20k of ownership. After close to 4 years of HARD driving, the car is pretty solid after 60k plus miles. Paid for an extended warranty, and it paid for itself with dealer replaced belt tensioner, broken coolant reservoir, broken WW fluid reservoir and clutch master and slave cylinder. I wish it was a hard top. I’ve taken the top off ONCE in four years for about ten minutes. Meanwhile, the thing squeaks like crazy. Aside from the more than adequate speed (160 with scary ease) it is a shockingly practical vehicle. I’ve filled it with a few hundred pounds of fishing gear, coolers, bait boxes, and up to six offshore fishing rods (including a 8’-6” long ONE-PIECE rod with reel) along with overnight gear and a foldable jetty cart. (You could find pictures on my IG account with same username, a few years back in the list). After loading up, I made the 200 mile trip from San Antonio to Corpus/Port Aransas, cruising at 95, averaging 21-25 mpg. There is no other car that can do all of these things. I am not a typical Corvette enthusiast. I bought mine reluctantly when a deal on a 2014 Cayman S fell through. I’m glad it did.
(In my area) C4 owners are on crack. Some ask 5k,some ask 15k for what's essentially the same car. C4 zr1s are worth about 25k. You can get a solid c5 for 15k. A solid c5z for 20k. You can get a solid c6 for 20k. A solid c6z for 30k. A solid c6 zr1 for 60k. You can get a solid c7 for 40k. A solid c7z for 70k. I've been seeing c8s going for right around 120k used. Nihar Srikant well, to be fair, porsches are extremely reliable, so that cost is kinda worth it
Nihar Srikant my dad had a 1990 Corvette it was a $500.00 charge for a tuneup. I’m willing to bet that it’s double that now.
C5 Z06 is my favorite of the three. The simplicity and the rawness of it. Such a cool car. Can’t forget the pop up headlights 👍🏼
Yo I love your handle js. Have a great day.
@@rickhunter6513 I like the headlights and overall looks of the C6 best tbh. The length and pop ups of the C5 are a turn off
I know exactly what you mean - I owned a C5 Z06 for several years and loved it, then thought about upgrading to a C6 Z06 so I bought one of those but after owning both for a couple of months I decided to stick with the C5 (sold the C6).
The C5 looks like a slightly melted Corvette. Like a slightly melted stick of butter. I still like it but that’s what I see every time.

I will not die until I have an HCI C6 z06 and a gen 2 viper in my garage.
After that I’ll die probably wrapping the viper round a tree but that’s a good way to go in my book
If I ever find out I have a terminal illness that is how I will go out. I'm renting something crazy with no insurance 😁
Ya know, I have said EXACTLY this before myself...and then I bought an E-type Jag, and never cared for my Corvette's or a Viper ever again :)

@@trashbandit2449 lol, no bro. I meant I have thought that I cannot die until I have a HCI C6Z, and an early Viper. That's what I meant.
The dying thing, no. I have been racing in ST2/TT2 for too long to go out like that :)
I just meant I found a car (E type Jag) that I want way more than any car ever before.

Didn’t the say that the ZO6 is better than the ZR1, in every single way except top speed? So why would you switch?
The presenter is wrong.
A C6 ZR1 will walk away from a C6 Z06 any way you want to race them... roll, dig, road course... doesn't matter.
c6 z06 is my favorite but the c5 is very impressive as well as the c7. if the c5 isnt enough for you, cams and coilovers will bring it to life, my buddy used to have a cammed c5 z06 and it was a monster
You don’t even need to get the coilovers. Some bilstein shocks or the 04 c5 z04 changes completely the car. You can also lower it and use the c6 z06 shocks and handles incredibly well. Coilovers are on another complete level though.
Captain Fartmaster nice to know this
I’ll look into the bilsteins as well
Instead of the konis because of of the price
Break, Fix & Drive It L.Y.S.i yes, they are great. C6 Z06 shocks are even cheaper I think. They also work great.
What does cammed mean?
That’s bad ass, I want to get a 04 z06 someday so I don’t have to drive my mustang cobra all the time.
I know of a 04 z06 for $18k with 60k on the clock. I want to buy it so bad. Not into newer cars with all of the nanny assists. *Forgot to mention it is stock, garaged and only got wet from a water hose.*
All the right reasons to own and enjoy this fine ride !!!
I'd love to own a 04' Z06 but the thought of ever having to replace the clutch scares me.
The C5 is still my favourite. I think it looks amazing.
The c6 z06 is my favorite. In my opinion the exhaust note is definitely the best out of all three. That 7 liter engine is so much fun.
And to me, at least, is BY FAR the most beautiful. Just perfect forms and proportions.
@@andreasbeaufort3594 Yes definitely the most beautiful and best looking.

Typical valve comment. Let's see it only effected less then 10% of production years 06-13. Mine. Put on 30k. Tracked it over 10 track day events. And zero problems. And if something were to happen to it. I can afford it. So yeah.

GM deserve an applause for bringing us all these awesome cars with great value 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hats off to GM. They stayed true to their promise of producing a Sports car which is a competitor to Euro Sports cars but at a fraction of what they cost.

Nice ride.
I love the C6 ZO6, it's the best sounding of the three and the filming of the video is so cinematic and beautiful ❤️
I absolutely adore my C7 Z06 7spd manual. It is so versatile and kicks some serious butt when I want. So glad I chose it over a 911.

C5 Z06 in Electron Blue Metallic? Mmmmm mmmmmmm!
My second choice to Millennium Yellow. My buddy used to have the blue commemorative with the white stripes and red pins. I liked that.
The c5 & 6 where the pinnacle of the Zo6 model , they focused on normally aspirated horsepower, lightweight & raw feel , the c7 generation lost it's way , numb steering feel, a supercharged engine (more weight), also over heated after 3 hard laps around a track

I have a 2016 3lt Z51 with a supercharger Dyno at over 650 up and 650 ft pounds of torque with a 7 speed manual I love the Rev match I use it all the time it works good upshifting too
Great review. I'm a regular c5 Corvette owner.
I prefer the normal c5 over the z06, I like the targa tops and the way the hatch looks in the back opposed to the trunk
@@jaypalo. I agree 👍
I wanted the profile of the C5Z, but with a removable roof, so I got a C5 convertible.
@@brentmay6379. Ok. Cool.
I've now watched this 4 times and come to the following conclusion: the answer is always Z06
Haha nice 👍🏾
I just keep watching this, I need Z06 in my life.
Why not ZR1?
@@trashbandit2449 too expensive, and in C6 guise not as good of a drivers car, less reliable, more consumables, and in C7 guise, as they have said, way too much car for the road. I'd even argue that the C7 Z06 is too much for most people. Just for comparison, a C7 Z51 can out preform a stock C6 Z06. These cars are getting completely nuts and it's amazing!
We love our Vettes !!! American Muscle
Not a Zo6 but drives and handles GREAT.Love them both.
Dammit, was going to get a ND miata, but now corvette is on my mind again
Do it! Get the 'vette. You will thank yourself later.
I almost clicked by this new wonderful release of Americana Z/06 Beauties then I said Wait a second lets check the date. I was So happy! I got in my favorite Sports car and started Steaming. I love my 2017 Chevy. Raw Power
In my opinion GM really knocked the c7 generation out of the park overall
Love the engine, love the drivetrain, but the body though good ain’t as good as the c5 and c6 for me. And this go’s for any corvette and most cars built anymore. They need to shed some weight. A 2700 pound corvette would be sick. Even 2900 would be better
I was lucky to own a c5 c6 and now a ZO6 C7 OMG IT'S A DREAM EVERY BODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO OWN 1 😎🙏🙏❤🚘
C6 will always be my favorite corvette it always looked like a perfected c4
I don’t see any resemblance to a C4... it’s actually referred to as the C5.5 in corvette circles, because it’s really an upgraded C5
Chris Cahill your personal opinion is fine, glad you’re well educated about corvettes, but me and 8 others feel they went back on what we know as a c4
Antwon Le’wang cool, invite them to your bday party
@@CPAJayhawk i will...lol
My husband rolled his c6! Shameful because I loved that car!
C6 z06 is the sweet spot 👌
Just love my C6 Z06. It handled well going to Palomar Mountain
Not a bad option out of any of these. The C6 Z06 with that stock 505 bhp has to be one of the best performance bargains there is right now
It’s 2024 and I still think the C5 Corvette is where it’s at.
Thanks for watching our American Original film. We're thrilled it resonated with you!
@@EverydayDriver Love the work you guys do!
No one can compare on those camera angles than Everyday Driver. All your videos are fantastic! Keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoy what we do. Thenk you for watching!
6:47 The LS6 also came in the Cadillac CTS-V
yeah
And the 2004 Pontiac GTO (Correction: The 2004 GTO had the LS1.)
@@exordis That's incorrect.
@@Sir.VicsMasher You're right, I stand corrected. That was the LS1.
Easily my favorite part is at 7:04 with the C6 Z06 going faster than Todd can think lol!
I'm totally a euro guy but never more have I wanted a Vette' than after watching this vid! Good job guys...
The C5 is the looker of the bunch in my opinion.
The Corvette market is crazy right now! Prices are high, but I am looking!
(In my area)
C4 owners are on crack.
Absolute crack.
Yeah man, everything's going crazy right now.
@@theyhatehimbecausehetoldth7576 I remember looking at a C4 ZR1 around 2008ish and they wanted $12k. It was still an impressive car compared to what was new at that time
I bought a Black C5 Z06 last week and it looks amazing!
