- In January of 1994, Nardwuar got an interview with Nirvana. This would be Kurt Cobain's final interview. The question remains: How? The answer isn't as simple as it would seem.

Courtney Love took it from him 💯

Nardwuar is legitimately one of the most important people in music history.
not in the sense that him or his bands were musical geniuses, but in the historical sense.
the amount of archives of interviews, the nooks and crannies of their personality he's explored, the sheer amount of respect he's earned in the industry..
he might call himself the human napkin, but it's not for the times he's been spit on, but simply for the note taking you can do on one.

Truly a one of a kind talent.
He just interviews people man, it's not that deep 😆

1. You told this story better than Nardwuar himself. Epic!
2. I love how Dave Grohl Nardwuar'd Nardwuar by bringing up the band he'd been in.
That's just Dave Grohl man. He knows a toooooooooon of music. You should see the documentaries he's being involve with. They're awesome and let you see how far he goes on music.
Nardwuar and Dave team up when?
You are Nardwuar! We have to know!
I really hope we get a Nardwaur doc that encapsulates EVERYTHING he did from beginning to now. Dude is such a rare enigma. He’s been doing it for the love of the art so long that you can watch the shift of artists reacting to him differently and change with the time. Dude just pursued the most honest way of trying to get the real version of an artist that was possible, which back was so unheard of, now it’s the thing you WANT a Nardwaur interview because you’ve made it, and he lets you know you’ve made it
The fact that we get so many forgettable biopics each year yet have never had the thrilling tale of this living napkin's perseverance adapted to the screen is a crime.
As always, great video! I had no idea Narduwar was THIS persistent. Also, would love to see more Nirvana-themed vids on your channel
I find the band really interesting so it’s definitely a possibility. Thanks for watching!
3:18 It's amazing that UA-cam was never sued for ripping off their logo from Nirvana.
Nardwuar is my personal hero. Lots of people come outta this town, but he’s always had the biggest impact on me. The golden standard of interviewers and journalism.
So your Vancouverite as well?
Kurt was murdered!

Nardawr being Kurts last interview and making him laugh is a wholesome moment amongst the sadness.
I did not know nardwaur interviewed Cobain at all, so that was pretty cool to find out the story behind it
great video as always marc!
Kurt hated interviews… that’s why he treats interviewers like crap. My theory is that the fact of being interviewed made him look as a famous rockstar godly-like celebrity, which he didn’t like.
Had no idea Nardwuar went this far back. I'm glad he was able to persevere and get that interview with Kurt!
P.S. Whoever voiced Kurt in this video, they did a pretty good job.
Bro nardwuar has been in the game FOR AGES. Literal legend
He's In his mid 50s been doing it since he was a teen
@@thelazygamer1370 yeah, he's like ageless. Like time doesn't affect nard.
Nardwuar's 1st interview was in 1987, during his last year of High School. He was 18 years old. His 1st interview was a local Vancouver band called Poisoned. It's posted on his YT channel.
the sonic youth interview was heartbreaking to see
The fact Dave recognized Nardwuar for his small little band is incredible. Dave is truly a special guy. I am not a nirvana or Foo Fighters fan. I don't dislike them just not a big fan. However I am a massive Dave fan.
He seems like a super cool dude have you ever seen the video of him doing a small UA-camrs live stream by the name of Pat finnerty. It's hard to not like the man
I like how even though this is so far one the fewer non-weezer related videos on Marc's channel (even if Nirvana was a huge inspiration for Weezer especially on Rivers Cuomo himself), Marc still put in some Weezer related things in the video such as the music video of Perfect Situation while talking about Courtney- who looks and kinda acts a lot like the blonde in the music video.
It’s the little things that count, thanks for noticing!
The fact that Dave out-nardwuar’d nardwuar when they met is genius. Music geeks unite
Dudes been just enjoying life doing what he loves the whole time and honestly we can all admit we’re jealous of that
Honesty.
can't believe you're the first one to make a video on this classic get a interview with Kurt Cobain any% speedrun
So sad, that last "doo doo" from Kurt sounded like one of those recordings of him as a little boy. Hardly any time between then and him here.
Does this effect the Weezer economy?
kurt cobain is rivers cuomo so yes
Yea it’s common knowledge a dark magic cult revived kurt and he became rivers cuomo
he looks just like buddy holly
What does this mean for Lebron's legacy?
rivers cuomo studied kurt's style extensively
My boy was high as Kite yeah give him his interview whit the Tururutu and every thing
What a legend
One of the best videos I've watched and only 10 minutes long. I would watch this for hours at a time.
It totally slipped my mind yesterday marked 30 years since his passing :( rest in peace Kurt
I’m dying of addiction and it’s very very emotional and meaningful to listen to artist like this expressing that feeling and that life and how it only leads to a rough one
He didn’t die of addiction. His bitch killed him
Me too. I hope you’re at least somewhat better, keep ur head up and focus on helping yourself. It never gets easier but you’re not the only one, don’t be afraid to reach out for help when U need it

@@finished6267 fucking hell brother, what kinda dude says "keep dying?"
What's your poision? For me it's stims, mostly RC's 2-fma to be exact. And benzos to be able to sleep and manage work. Mix in som opium and kratom and there you go. I was able to manage doing this only a few times a week for a long time. But now it's every day. I never know which withdrawal i'm suffering from after a few days, i think the kratom is the worst since i've been using that the longest. 2-fma is suprisingly forgiving, compared to normal speed the side effects (so far after 6months of use) is not even close. But the high is more mellow too of course.
The thing is before i started using anything i wasnt happy, and i wasnt feeling good anyways. That's how i remember it at least.
I didn't know about Nardwaur until this video and I have to recognize his perseverance to get this interview. Also, I am impressed by MarcButEvil capacity to find interesting topics like this one. I love this channel. Great job 👍
That means a lot, thank you!
bro your video making skills are improving like cracy
That means a lot. Practice makes perfect!
The Tuesday January 4, 1994 interview with Cobain was truly his last televised interview. It's debut (audio only) was on radio first on Friday January 7 on Nardwuar's radio show on CITR (University of British Columbia campus radio station). The next following Friday January 14, the "video version" debuted on a local TV show in Vancouver (Canada) called Soundproof. Which was a local Alternative music show that aired from 1979 -1999
That is crazy
Great video. A fascinating story well told. Thanks man.

I love the topics you choose to cover. Maybe they're niche but I'm always intrigued by them
I cried at the end, great video

This is without a doubt an excellent and very interesting video. After watching it, this video left me with a strong desire to see other interviews made by him with other artists. Another thing that left a big impression on me was Kurt's interesting and unfortunately short life.
Courtney came in SO clutch
As someone who is always told I look like Courtney , I appreciate at least one positive Courtney comment
@@Serenity888Meowpeople don't like Courtney because she was such an unashamed rock star and she was really good at it.

Nardwuar can be very persistent, I think the best way to describe his interviews I founded it in an article
a few months ago" his interviews are a mix of “This Is Your Life” meets an interrogation.
That Nardwaur impression.... 10 out of 10 👌👌

Rick the temp and Master T!!!
He deserves it all he’s such a legend: he’s the only thing I ever remember from much music

He does have one of the saddest stories. He lives on in the hearts of the people who love him AFTER he died. I don't know if that's good or bad but "it's better to be hated for who you are than loved for what you are NOT" -kurt Cobain. God he was a beautiful creature 😢
Great video man 👏👌

My sister went to that concert. Kurt also used to hang out in Vancouver before becoming famous. He'd stay at a house on the street my sister lived on too.
On tour with my band, we stopped to see Kurt’s house. Lemme tell you guys.., to experience the true raw emotions you feel while standing next to his house is unreal.
What an amazing and inspiring story of perseverance. Well done videomaker
This is a great video
love the nardwuar impressions for the quotes
5:55 funfact, pretty sure the butthole surfers were high on LSD or smth that day. They didn't seem to take him seriously or gave pretty meaningless answers, but when Nardwuar mentioned the Bassists other band you could genuenily see that he was really flattered lol.
Solid video. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing that. A very cool story indeed. The trouble you went through and the fact that you stuck with it and eventually got that interview. What you said at the closing video was really special. About the tragic end but then you said his life is worth celebrating. Had loving family, adoring fans, a incredible career and making the dream of getting a interview come true. Whenever the talk of Kurts death comes up its sad, i felt sad, but then what you said made that feeling go away. I saw them in Toronto in 91 i think. We weren't expecting that kind of performance. A good band is a good band and Nirvana was a good band. RIP Kurt 😔
Kurt Cobain's last interview was February of 1994 in Toulon, France.
This video is incredible it creates the whole story we needed to hear
Great vid!
Nardwuar is a Legend! But he did not realized Kurt´s last interview. His final one was with Madhouse magazine in April 1994, the month he died, and it´s one of the most compelling interviews I have ever seen.

This is a great interview
Very cool 🤙🤙
Great job getting this story 💯 it’s all accurate and finally doesn’t make Courtney look bad
I only recently came across Narduwar when watching a Slipknot interview couple month's back lol ( unless i somehow watched an interview years ago and didn't remember it) and gotta say love his energy for what he does and the immense research on them, but man that was a bittersweet ending. He got one of his dream come true wishes but man i don't know how I'd feel knowing that one of my idols that i got to meet takes his own life months later, happiness aside knowing he got to interview not only Kurt but the whole band together, but man he must've felt devastated knowing bout his passing after that. It's still a shame how many awesome musicians that have passed due to the angry disgusting demons known as depression and addiction. So many to name , so many we wished we could've helped 😢
Never give up, never surrender!
@Victor Sanchez Ramirez you're so right about it. This guy is an example of never give up.
