That’s why they should tour while rotating front people. Like they did for R&R HOF. Like - let some cool lead singer/guitarist type get to ride the Nirvana machine for 6 dates. Then hand off. It’s better than never being able to see this music live again. There is an Elvis fronted Nirvana in EngLand that started out as a goof, but is filling concert halls and festivals because people are so HUNGRY to experience this music live

wantsome7655 Kurt was getting plenty of “voice of his generation” press while he was still alive. They sold millions of records years before he died. They headlined the 92 Reading fest. They were the first “important band” of the nineties and they were huge.
Things get romanticized when someone dies young and tragically so yes Kurt then became “iconic” but they were definitely one of the biggest bands in the world. To say they “only blew up” in the wake of his death is absurd.
It sounds like what you mean is that people jumped on some kind of bandwagon when he died and you didn’t like that.

No I think Dave took away with what was left and made an arms out wave of musical awesomeness.
He could’ve stayed a bands drummer and made his own way later, but he shined his own light after the fact. Kurt was his neutron initiatior to the hydrogen bomb of his fame and astronomical career.
Kurt I feel as well as he did wanted a better life, but he couldn’t handle stardom. If he were around today and stuck with stardom a bit he would’ve prevented much of the onstage abortions we have now.

On a phone call? Sooooooo heart wrenching! (not) The 94 equivalent of an sms. Grohl by the way is a sociopath. Try to look at him from this point of view now, in hindsight youll see it. Dave does and says what serves Dave. He lies a lot, makes up stories. Hes actually quite sick in the head.

@@dcoop1422 looking at your comment i'm kind of stunned that there's actually someone else who sees it though I'm still surprised that so many don't. A few years ago I spent a few days off and on watching videos of him and was amazed at how he plays everyone and how they eat it up for example, when he broke his leg and acted like someone who's body was half in traction, when there was just a below the knee cast, all so that people would fawn over him for making a sacrifice to his fans by continuing to play shows LOL, he even had people carry him on stage in a stretcher while clueless fans cheered. And the way he expresses his false humility or mentions his "good deeds", there's something clearly off about him. And he'll do that and then turn around and laugh about how a friend of his stomped a dog and then beat someone to a pulp for no reason in a bar. I've forgotten most of what I saw but there was a lot. Someone could write a book about it all.
EDIT: Disregard the "stomped a dog" comment as I was thankfully very mistaken about that. No dog was stomped.

100% agree. Grohl is full of shit and only few people can see through his lies - he couldn’t give two fucks for Kurt’s well being. He was and still is an egomaniac who only cares about himself. People who know him on a personal level know this.
Also, I read somewhere that things got sour between Cobain and Grohl/Krist towards the end, because they were demanding a bigger pay cut from Nevermind.
Cobain was only really in good terms with Pat at that point. Pat’s the only good friend in all this.

Kurt certainly didn't kill himself. Watch the Nirvana series on this channel to know why it's absolutely certain he was murdered. It's the most clear case I can think of as the amount of heroin would have made him unconscious without him even having the chance to push the syringe empty. Let alone take the needle off, clean everything and put them back in the box, then take the shotgun and shoot himself. It's four times the highest amount that anyone has ever survived, and there are not even one recorded case of suicide done by a gun after taking massive dose of heroin, and especially when there is still more heroin to be used.

I know it’s nothing anyone will ever know for sure, I’ll just say if it was suicide, it’s one of the weirdest ever. Especially when credit cards he’d been using for motel rooms to do drugs in days before he died continued to be used after his death.
The gun he’d bought was a very low gauge, and it was loaded with birdshot, he had said it was for home defense after a stalker had been bothering him, and he had gone for the low gauge cause he didn’t wanna kill anyone.

"I'm sorry, it was a mistake"
I can't even describe how deeply that hurt me. You can see the ache in Dave's eyes as he says it.
Both Dave and Pat have been given huge, intense blows with the passing of their friends and fellow bandmates.
Kurt, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, Layne Staley, Andy Wood... I can't begin to imagine, if we as fans are heartbroken by the loss of these truly incredible voices, how Dave and Pat feel losing their friends.
The ache that the act of suicide, or drug addiction, leaves never goes away, it just dulls. Not knowing the whys, and thinking of the what ifs, weigh so heavily on the soul.
When Dave and Pat are asked in interviews about Kurt, Layne, Chris or Chester, the flash of pain in their eyes show they're reliving the moment all over again.
I, of course, hope the families of the lost are okay, but my god, I really hope Dave and Pat are okay.

Kurt was murdered though. It as clear as day if you know the evidence. Just pushing the syringe empty would have been hard, let alone clean everything and put all the equipment away and shoot a gun. Totally impossible. Also there's no recorded suicides by a gun after someone just used a ton of heroin. It has never happened, for obvious reasons.
Cornell and Bennington were in the process of making documentary about that effing massive satanic p3do that was friend of Killary Clinton, Podesta. Also Anthony Bourdain and Avicii were part of that project. Everybody got suicided in almost the same time.

I had a good friend...but really he was also my plug. I got a phone call one night and this guy was super nice and being like, hey you gotta come kick it man. I immediately knew something was off a bit. I said, "hey man, I know you took some of your own supply tonight, I need to tell you, those hydrocodones are not real vicodins...those are pressed fentanyl pills, you need to be very very careful, you need to stop drinking now and don't fall asleep anytime soon". I asked him how many he'd taken and he said like 6, see he didnt know the cartel guy he was getting them from had gotten him a fake batch...and that scared me. Because even me as high tolerance addict, taking 60mg of oxy with vicodins at once...and knowing that these fake pills were way way too much for somebody who wasn't an everyday user. He was just trying to let loose one night. I called the next day...no answer. I waited but I needed my fox too and I was starting to get sick. Shake, sweaty, nauseated et cetera. Finally his wife called and let me know that he had passed in his sleep. I felt so bad. I should have went over there and watched him, I could have gotten narcan and been there for him. He was a good dude, wife and 3 kids. Worked everyday in construction as well.
After his wife gave me a handful of pills I told her I was weaning off and that I was very sorry about the whole ordeal. I was sick for a week, and depressed for several but I made it through it. Haven't touched an opiate in 3yrs.
I've lost a lot of friends to OD's, mostly fentanyl. From childhood friends to Army buddies I served with for 8yrs. My own mother OD'd when I was 13. I've seen those drugs take so many lives....and I have no idea why some of us are so attracted to that feeling of using. My brain is in constant overdrive and I guess that's the only thing I ever felt gave me a bit of internal clarity and peace. Sad really. Some of best, most genuine people I've ever known are addicts.😢

In this clip alone it was pretty clear since he stated issues while on that tour. He went home Kurt went to Rome and how he said his wife let's you know he can be judgemental and have anger about him being with her so please don't say he's God level perfect even down to his attitude. It's ridiculous because we're all human and said things we wish we could take back. Now I don't have an issue with any of them and I personally like Dave's music along with Nirvana's music but come one with all the fluff with Dave because unfortunately he couldn't stand Courtney but that was Kurt's wife at the end of the day and he was notorious known for talking crap about her to pretty much everybody including Kurt. It doesn't matter how I feel about her or how Dave or anyone else felt about her because it was his wife. Between his drug addiction and his wife you can easily see it irritated, angered and frustrated Dave which is very understanding. However you can also see how that could place a lot of tension on the band. It's unfortunate but it happens when you don't like being famous and you have depression, drug addiction and a wife that they can't stand. Silver Lake it wasn’t the drugs talking. You guys need to understand addiction. It was the fear of no drugs and being sick that Kurt was reacting to. That and frankly being bullied by his wife, bandmates and so called friends. Kurt wasn’t ready to quit and felt like he was being forced into it which is never the way to go. If you have a fragile sensitive soul like Kurt you have to go about it carefully and they failed big time. I get they were trying to help him but it blew up in their faces because they pushed this man to the brink. And don’t even get me started on Courtney. At best she pushed him to suicide and at worst....you know.

You can really tell how Dave was shaped by all the tragedy that surrounded Nirvana. Before he seemed to be more of a quiet guy and after Kurt's death he really went and poured his heart out on stage in front of the whole world. Takes a lot of courage to make such a transition from a quiet drummer to one of the biggest frontmen in rock, especially with all the expectations and harsh criticism from the Nirvana fans.

Dealing with a human being with so much mental and physical pain who is at the point where death is the only legitimate end to said pain, is impossible for those who can't comprehend what that kind of brutal, painful and life ending feeling can do to those who live with said pain every day til they die. Just like many situations in life.... If you have never experienced it, you will never fully and truly understand it!

For sure, for sure. I’ve been in some low down situations but my thoughts always turn to my family. I can only think when someone is so mentally ill and depressed, thoughts of their family don’t come into it. Kurt was a really clever almost virtuoso like, making music at two years old. Even then he’s on tape at his aunts house talking to his imaginary friend Boda. I wouldn’t call him crazy but clearly the mental side which made him brilliant also gave him periods of dark thoughts. The same aunt said he recorded a song in his teens called seaside suicide. He clearly had a propensity for suicidal thoughts.

It doesn’t matter if you understand it, given Kurt had an imaginary friend and was prone to suicide from being a teen. I’d say most of us would have a hard time understanding it. In any case Kurt for all his brilliance was often hypocritical or naive re his quest for fame. I do understand how dealing with fame and all that it entails would be difficult.

It did. He OD'd in France in 94 the first time he did heroin with Youri Lenquette's friends, he also OD'd in March after the intervention. He also supposedly OD'd in Dublin in 92 although many say it was methadone withdrawal. Heroin isn't that hard to find in Dublin and he was heavily into it at the time so I'd imagine the methadone withdrawal thing is just damage control for the press. Minders were hired to watch him afterwards in any case.

Diggerdog2nd, Not to undermine Krist's, and Daves contributions to Nirvana however Kobain did in fact dictate how alot of the bass and drum parts were to be played, as he could play both, which is in part why the royalties were split 75% for Kurdt, and the remaining 25% was split between Dave and Krist. Though it was at Courtney's behest that Kurdt make said demand, as she's a greedy pig. Kurdt, quite literally, could have given two shits about the MONEY, the FAME, or the POWER! I mean c'mon the guy turned down a feature role in Cameron Crowe's SINGLES in '92, as well as, quite literally, MILLIONS of dollars to play LOLLAPALOOZA...
He just wanted to be with his lil' "BEAN", and move to a place where he could live like a "NORMAL PERSON". One of his favorite books was called Perfume, about a reclusive 'freak', who didn't want to be bothered, which, I imagine, is why the book spoke to him on a deeper level. We may never know what really happened to him, but LOVE did have ALOT to gain from his death. He wanted a divorce, and due to the prenup, Love wouldn't have seen cent 1 of his money, so she most likely had him wiped out to secure her financial future. Wouldn't be the first time someone 'got it' over money...
Especially NIRVANA MONEY! Talk about a bloody EMPIRE!!!
