I've read both books and I've seen both films twice. This may sound crazy to you, But Lecter only attacked people who he felt deserved punishment. People who were rude or stupid or evil. (No, I don't believe they deserved to be eaten.) In the 2nd film, ("Hannibal,) he's actually in love (in his own way) with Clarice and saves her life. At the end, they're handcuffed together, and rather than hurt her, he chops off his own hand.
I think "Bride of Frankenstein" should have received an Oscar. It is unique! It is totally involving! The acting was terrific! In my 88 years of life, I have seen lots of movies, but "Bride of Frankenstein" is unique and look forward to revisit it every 6 months!
@@zyxw2000if you look up the definition of horror movie the dictionary of film studies defines it as "disturbing and dark subject matter, seeking to elicit responses of fear, terror, disgust, shock, suspense and or course horror from their viewers.” Still think Silence isn’t a horror movie?
"Lambs" wasn't horror in the sense of having anything supernatural. Neither did "Black Swan." The horror was psychological. Not familiar with "Get Out," so I can't comment.
Why do you think that horror movies need to involve something supernatural? The genre is about the feelings it elicits from the audience (terror, disgust, etc.). The content itself can be realistic or supernatural in order to accomplish that.
agree with intoplay about horror needn't being supernatural; in UGETSU MONOGATARI, the supernatural elements weren't horrific, but what people did in the real world was.
I still feel Lambs falls under what I call a horror thriller. GREG Nicatero calls it a horror film, because it feels horror to me. But all this is subjective and will be argued until the end of time. Either way it's an amazing movie

Academy ignored Psycho of course . The Shining of course . Carrie with Sissy Spacek of course .Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland of course . Academy doesn't know shit .
It’s hard to believe that “Rosemary’s Baby” wasn’t nominated
Didn't she cut her hair to like tell her husband she's doing the role no matter what, maybe her husband's influence kept the movie out
"THE LATE.....GREAT......HANNIBAL LECTER!!!!"😂😂😂😂 Such a real and of course, upstanding cannibal.

Horror doesn't mean supernatural. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't supernatural

"Dr Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" with Frederic March and Miriam Hopkins won 3 Oscars in 1932..
In hindsight, Aliens shouldve been nominated
Ro’s Baby shoulda….
More than likely thinks that "Psycho" was a "Horror" film.
Snobbish critic: "Silence of the Lambs isn't a horror movie, it's a crime thriller!" Whatever, snobby!
It's true, not snobby. There was nothing supernatural in it.

since you spread the 'horror' definition rather widely, I suggest that you missed out A CLOCKWORK ORANGE
I think silence of the lamb is a psychological thriller. What’s horror about the movie?
It’s a disturbing movie? Why wouldn’t it be a horror?
Silence of the lambs is not a horror movie suspense thriller kay

Black swan is no where near horror

Silence Of The Lambs/Jaws are "Horror" films ?........and people think that Americans don`t understand Irony.
Because they are in the genre. Oh sorry, I guess Jaws is a comedy.

I've seen better horror. Whatever.
Sometimes horror is psychological rather than supernatural.
@@zyxw2000 Agree. I was thinking TCM, Wrong Turn., Joy Ride etc.
