Quentin Tarantino is a nut case. He doesn't have any of the classics Spaghetti or other brilliant westerns listed? WTF. Not just Clint Eastwood in these movies but many other great actors. Just to name a few that are in the top westerns movies ever: Unforgiven, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once upon a Time in the West, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, etc. I could go on. I will say that the original Django was a great hidden gem western.

Asking Tarantino about his tastes is all good and well but should be taken with a pinch of salt. Groundhog Day is perfect. It may not be his "cup of tea", like he once said about "perfect movies". I wonder how he would have done Natural Born Killers.... probably lots of his classic dialogue intense scenes punctuated by spurts of the old "ultra-violence"...lol

I am no fan of Seagal but I have to say I was on a film set with Brian Cox had to drive him about and he didn’t come across a very nice guy very abrupt, which is a pity as he is no doubt a good actor, being civil to people you are working with isn’t that difficult no matter how important you think you are.

I've loved Brian Cox in every role I've seen him play. He's a great talent and versatility defined. His work in the Sean Bean vehicle "Sharpe's Rifles" was brilliant. He stole every scene he was in without chewing on the scenery. The man can go from hilarious to menacing at the drop of a hat. Well done, sir!

Groundhog Day was a masterpiece beyond Tarantinator's comprehension. Mr. Creosote was one of the funniest characters in the history of the movies and provided the most medically accurate depiction of projectile vomiting ever captured on film. Pure envy.

His description of Segal fits pretty much every actor or actress in existence when it comes to thinking themselves better and more important than they really are.

Amazed that NOBODY in the comments (that I've seen anyway.?..) OR Q.T mentioned "The Long Riders" by Walter Hill (The Warriors...among other great films!) The Keach, Carradine, Quaid and Guest brothers ALL play the brothers in real life. Bob and Charlie Ford (Guest) , Jesse and Frank (Keach) The Youngers (Carradine's) and the Miller's (Quaids). Truly EPIC casting. And an amazing movie. The Northfield Raid shootout scene is absolutely legendary. My all time favorite western...by a wide margin.

  • @sheilah4525

I would offer that while SOME of the movies listed are “historical event specific”, others are not or are based on legendary characters, some of dubious authenticity. Is “The Patriot” or “Gladiator” really that “event specific” or is there leeway for some literary license? Is the legend of King Arthur not open to interpretation? Clearly, movies like “300” or “Brave Heart” play fast and loose but not all are so event specific we can’t accept a wee bit of drama. After all we see manga war flick set in a particular time, but then accept that within that framework, the story is but pure Hollywood buggery.

Brian Cox is a successful actor it's true. He has a talent that is now recognised all over the world. You really don't need to listen to his personal views however. They're not too balanced and quite hypocritical. Just another actor at the end of the day who, because of personal success thinks they're automatically qualified to push their "sage" thoughts on a public they have absolutely no intention of living among.

Brian Cox's biggest role is Agammemnon in "Troy." He was good in "Sharpe," too, but unfortunately, he didn't make it to season two or beyond due to some sort of contract or scheduling issues.
