Once peeled, use a micro plane to grate the ginger root and turmeric root. Makes a super fine and easily blendable "mush" out of them for anyone that doesn't have a good blender. :)

Oh thank you very much for this tip!!!
Plus the skin of turmeric has lots of good stuff in it.
Add the honey last bc I read that honey loses its nutrients when boiled.

Tumeric is also great for nursing mom's too! It helps a ton with milk production! It also helped me get rid of a terrible rash the dermatologist wanted me to go on prednisone for! It is an amazing spice!

This may sound weird but i cried tears of happiness watching your video! I have been looking for someone like you. Someone to not only show me how to eat heathy but explain the benefits as well. Hiring a nutritionist is not cheap, eating healthy is not cheap. But when food items are explained and one is shown easy recipes, it ignites inspiration and change. I know watching your channel will keep me Highly Motivated! And that's why I subscribed .. THANK YOU!

J's Journey Not weird. You're a normal human being 💚.
      What's your journey?
If you don't mind my asking.
      Mine is a Lyme journey.
I described what happened to me in my 2nd question to her.
      Sorry, can't remember her name...
I burst into tears - comes and goes... a typical Lyme symptom.
Hope you don't have it too.
I too thought she was spot on with her video. Very professional, succinct and her descriptions were very helpful.

Thank you for your presentation and information on turmeric milk.
It made perfect sense to me....
    Especially how it reduces inflammation.
One question I have are the ingredients I have:
    1. Almond milk "plain" unsweetened.
    2. Coconut oil, extra virgin cold pressed.
    3. Both black ground pepper & pre ground.
    4. A package of powdered Turmeric from Whole Foods in a sealed bag maybe Navitas?
    5. Powdered ginger in glass bottle-Trader Joe's brand.
~ So, I am in treatment for Lyme disease and cannot do the chopping part or much of anything.
(I never even knew you could buy turmeric in the root form before your video)
I couldn't decide when I bought the ginger, root or powder?
So opted for the easiest for myself.
I had heard of turmeric milk and knew that black pepper enhances the turmeric action.
I know that raw honey or Manuka honey are better than other honey.
I don't have ANY honey because as usual the Lyme Disease patient has little money to spend bc their treatments are so costly, not able to work etc ...
Bit by a tick w Lyme and co-infections 8 years ago.
I found my bullseye rash and tick.
Was confirmed by e.r. I had a Lyme infected bite but was refused antibiotics.
I spent 2 years looking for anyone who at that point treated Lyme.
So spent 2 years with 3 fatal infections digging into my every cell...
Still can't believe I was denied antibiotics that first 2- 4 days.
It would have wiped out all the infections.
So, 2 years ago I had a fractured infected moler that was surgically extracted. Immediately and during the 1st six months while the area was stitched, before the implant was placed ...
The Lyme bacteria in the mouth's saliva got into my upper jawline, left ear and my brain. Suddenly,
    I couldn't think straight.
I became extremely incapable of reading, writing, thinking, remembering - anything.
It's a living nightmare, impossible to explain, impossible for anyone who doesn't have it to completely understand.
I'm doing all I can possibly do to heal myself within my tiny little monthly income.
So, inflammation is a huge part of the puzzle.
Many lyme infected flock to nutrional remedies, especially like this.
I need to get the best
anti-inflammatory nutrients into my body as possible.
    Lyme=inflammation.
So, what are your thoughts about
    1. Raw v powdered Turmeric.
    2. Raw v powdered Ginger.
    3. Buy Raw Honey.
Thank you so much for your time and perfectly made video... 💚

I have actually tried golden milk but using a couple of other rrcipes. I like the sound of yours but especially that you are using raw turmeric. The other recipes used dried and I think that fresh is better than dried. One question though; both the other recipes used a teaspoon of dried turmeric and it looked as though yours used the same amount of fresh. If so, were the other recipes using too much? Also, the dry spices that settle to the bottom of the cup; do you consume those as well or do you discard them?

Honey has only anti inflammatory effects when it's raw. Otherwise the enzyme which makes honey anti inflammatory dies.

Philip Gerlach Hi, what is the difference between Raw honey and Manuka honey?
      What is Manuka honey?
      Thank you.

    • @Dubidooo
      @Dubidooo 6 років тому

Manuka honey is honey made from the nectar of the manuka tree that grows in New Zeeland. It has high anti-bacterial properties but at the same time it is a lot more expensive.

is it possible to make a bigger amount and just save the rest? or does it have to be drank as soon as it is prepared? ps. I love your channel!

+Carla G Yes of course! I would recommend making a fresh batch each week however & give it a good shake or stir before heating so all the ingredients are well mixed again :)

I have been drinking a cup of milk with powdered turmeric in it. I like it. I am excited to try your recipe. It sounds delicious. Is it ok to substitute the powdered spice for the ginger and the turmeric?

    Addendum to my post.
I completely forgot about cinnamon in it.
I use cinnamon all the time.
Are there better or worse cinnamons out there?
    Thank you!

It really works with my painful arthritis and tendinitis inflammation! It only took about four hours before the pain drastically subsided and the pain has not returned. My wife now uses turmeric daily for the two of us!

I make this also but I add the honey after it’s been cooked. Cooking the honey at higher than med warm temps changes it’s properties and makes it more toxic. You can google that for yourself. It also makes it less beneficial for this purpose. It’s a fantastic drink and very good for you. You can also use whatever type of milk you prefer even low-fat or 1-2 percent. Oat milk works well too so mix it up and see which way you like it best!!! It has a fantastic taste and you’ll absolutely love this !!

Hi! Yes I always add honey after it's been heated now :) This video was filmed many many years ago and I've learned that is a better way to go :) Haven't tried it with oatmeal but I'm sure it's delicious! Thanks for the tip! :)

Hi, great recipe! Quick question- do you think that a ginger paste would be okay instead of the fresh, raw ginger? I would prefer raw, but I happen to already have some paste in the fridge, and thought maybe I could use it up this way?;) Thx!

Hi! I've never used ginger paste to make Golden Milk, but I would definitely give it a try & see if it turns out and you like it! Sounds like it would work! Just read the ingredient list because some ginger pastes can also contain added sugars :)

Hi, Great you-tube, Dr Michael Mosleys research shows to get the full absorption, you need 1/2 teaspoon of pepper and some form of fat 1 teaspoon , because the turmeric is only usable as fat soluble, Olive or almond or Coconut oil.
    cheers Garry
