    This is my favorite tea hands down. It’s caffeine free, it tastes wonderful, and you can drink it as an iced tea as well.
    I don’t peel my ginger or turmeric when I make it since the skin is perfectly edible, nor do I strain it, but feel free to do as you see fit. You’ll be just fine either way.

      Yes I made a batch a few days ago and just washed my ginger well so I didn’t have to peel it. Thank you for letting me know how you prep it and I’m so glad you like it! 😊

    how long does it last in the fridge

    • @TastyThriftyTimely
      @TastyThriftyTimely  9 місяців тому +1

      It will last well for two weeks. Usually if I need to keep it longer I’ll freeze it in an ice cube tray and that way I can easily defrost what I need for a mug.

    • @TastyThriftyTimely
      @TastyThriftyTimely  10 місяців тому +2

      You’re welcome! I don’t think there’s any harm in having multiple cups a day especially since only 1/4 cup of the concentrated tea is diluted with hot water and lemon juice. However, too much of anything could cause stomach upset so I would suggest no more than 3 mugs a day to be safe (I’m also not a doctor or nutritionist so you can check with someone else if you’re concerned and also keep an eye on how you feel after drinking it). Likewise, I think it’s completely safe to have on an empty stomach but the acidity of the lemon juice and the potency of the tea could irritate the gut if anyone is particularly sensitive to these ingredients. Again I’d suggest taking it slow and testing out how you feel with it on an empty stomach. If any stomach upset occurs try having it with some food you can tolerate. I hope this helps!

      Awesome! I’m so glad you love it. We’re traveling soon and I was just telling Bryan I was gonna make this today so we can feel like we’re giving our immune systems a little help! You can definitely add in any sweetener you like. If you use honey that’s an option but agave or maple syrup, some granulated sugar would dissolve into it as it boils or I even have some apple juice at the moment so I might try adding a bit of that in today and see how it tastes.

    • @smidgekat5296
      @smidgekat5296 Рік тому +2

      Hi. I added a bit of agave but I really like the idea of adding sugar as its boiling, thanks for the suggestion. I have some coconut sugar so will try that. I found out today that I have been in close contact with two people who have Covid and having only had it a couple of months ago, I definitely don't want it again. I'll be living on this! Thanks again and enjoy your travels 🙂@@TastyThriftyTimely

    • @TastyThriftyTimely
      @TastyThriftyTimely  9 місяців тому +1

      Hmm the concentrate might taste spicy because ginger has a bit of a spicy taste as well and if you added the cayenne pepper you may really be tasting that. When you make a mug of tea though, you add 1/4 cup of the concentrate to lemon juice and boiling water. The lemon juice should help make the flavour more pleasant than just drinking the concentrate. You can also sweeten it with agave or any liquid sweeteners you use. Let me know if you’ve been having it with lemon juice and if that makes it better for you.

    Why do I get a cinnamon sludge at the bottom of my cup after I strain?

    • @TastyThriftyTimely
      @TastyThriftyTimely  10 місяців тому +1

      If you’re using ground cinnamon it’s probably just ground too fine so it’s sliding through your strainer. I get a little bit of that because I tend to use ground turmeric but I do usually use cinnamon sticks. You can try passing it through a strainer that is more fine (doubled up cheesecloth for instance might catch it) or you can use the whole spices if you’re able. Cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger, and fresh turmeric. I’ve found it’s possible to reuse cinnamon sticks a couple of times actually! Just rinse it and let it dry out again. And the fresh ginger and turmeric can both be frozen whole and you can just slice off what you need when you need it. That way you won’t be pressed to use it all up before it turns bad. I hope this helps minimize the sludge!

  • @princessken90

    I don’t think it costs less than 1 dollar, just yo but fresh ginger and greasy turmeric it’s more than 1 dollar, so please

    • @TastyThriftyTimely
      @TastyThriftyTimely  Рік тому +1

      The cost of ingredients will certainly vary for everyone. I price my recipes out based on the quantity of the ingredients I use. A benefit I have found to fresh ginger is that it can be frozen right away so there doesn’t need to be any waste if you buy more than you need. It’s really convenient to take out of the freezer and grate or slice from frozen.

      @princessken90 - you're wrong. I make the exact recipe for .87 large batch. Why be so ignorant and rude?
