That Xiaomi cinematic mode looks MUCH better than the iPhone version. Shame the front camera doesn't have it and it's limited to 24 frames.

Love the idea of a phone lens having a real adjustable aperture, but I wonder if that range of stops would make much of a difference given the lenses true focal length. Sadly the Movie Mode is a hot mess compared to Cinematic mode - right now but I’m grateful that Xiaomi is pushing the smartphone camera game forward. That makes users the real winners here. 👏🏻
It makes a usable difference. Will not be as pronounced as a dedicated camera of course.
The variable aperture is extremely useful when you are taking low-light photos. In the day, it's not that big of a difference unless you are taking portrait images where you adjust the aperture to change the degree of blur in the background.
14 Ultra the clear winner in stills ....just blows it out of the water

in last scene xi beats an iPhone in lowlight. what iPhone needs is 1 inch sensor and bigger aperture lenses . 1 inch must become an industry standard for pro phones
I thought the screen on the Xiaomi would have been brighter. Software is a little buggy at the moment too. I also wish the speakers could be slightly louder. My 3 gripes. 👍

Hey Simon, Please try Motioncam Pro on this beast cause it can do 14 bit log even in Direct LOG video. If you do 8K binned , you will get the most detailed 4K video ever.
Also motioncam can record video with lut baked in 14bit and on also log video on front camera.
I did comment to him many times but he ignored, I think he is having a problem with Motioncam Devs .

have you tested it yourself? can you shoot RAW 4K 60 with the tele lenses as well?

I like the look of the 14 ultra very nice and the night video was good but I think the iPhone has it to my eyes it just has a better quality but marginally, Xiaomi are really catching up! great video Simon TFS Phil 👍

Well you haven’t wasted money on a GoPro then. After having GoPro’s since the four, I wouldn’t recommend the brand.
I’ve just sold all my GoPro stuff. While everyone has different uses I think I’d go back and get another dji action 2.

That's some interesting news to me you can shoot 10bit log on all rear cameras, and it can also shoot raw/ultraraw on all rear cameras. But can you shoot full 50mpix raw files on the rear cameras or is it limited to 12mpix binned raw files?
you can shoot 50mp ultra raw files on rear cameras in pro mode.
@@Casanovalover86 since i now have the device i can say that this is unfortunately not true, you can only shoot 50mpix raw using the main camera. None of the other cameras support it at the moment. :(

According to this video, iPhone still, even with less sensor and cameras gives same or better results overall.
I've tested both and the Xiaomi takes much better pictures in all scenarios except maybe the selfie cam on occasion.. Video is more of a mixed bag... I feel like you're a bit biased towards iPhone.
I have contact with Xiaomi, they send me all their phones, so if anything I'm biased to them. But if I had to pay £1200, then I'd expect the exposure to work as a basic minimum. Great engineering, poor software, simple as that (like a lot of other Xiaomis)
@@SiHorrocks I'm not sure which version of the phone/software you're using but I don't have that exposure issue at all.... I replicated the exact scenario and mine exposed perfectly and was able to switch to the rear window or my face with no issues.... I take back what I said about the video being a mixed bag though... The iPhone is much better when it comes to video. But for pictures the Xiaomi is king imo.

I think that's because he has made a separate video focusing on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra where he highlighted the features of the 14 ultra such as the stepless variable aperture and the photography kit. But, just like what you have said, I think he should talk about the photography kit because that really enhances the photography and camera experience that Xiaomi is creating.

I think you can only shoot 10-bit log video with the main sensor on Xiaomi 14 ultra and not with all 4 lenses!

I'm currently using the Xiaomi 13 and I am disappointed with the camera quality. Apparently, the color is somewhat pale to me. Well the quality is not bad at all; it's just that the color is pale. I'm waiting for the firmware update.

NGL, the quality of the photos that I have taken are similar to reality, but the thing is that when it comes to taking human photos, the skin tone is somewhat pale. However, when it comes to taking photos about the surroundings including nature, animals.....It is pretty much eyes-catching. Well, we can't ignore the fact that we all have different taste of picture. And I appreciate your recommendation. Have a nice one.
