Xiaomi 14 Ultra Review One Month In | Just Wow

- Опубліковано 3 чер 2024
- The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the best camera phone out there when combined with its incredible Photography Kit. Why? It's so intuitive to zoom, grip, shoot and take stunning photos. But it's so much more than an awesome accessory - this Leica phone has four powerful rear cameras, a variable aperture and a 1-inch main sensor. After a month with the phone, while I’m not ready for a long-term style, six-month review, I have been using it as my main phone for four weeks, taken hundreds of photos, played Genshin Impact for hours, and so much more - so I can report back on the wins and the woes of Xiaomi’s incredible Leica camera phone.

I really liked both 14 ultra and x100 pro , both have very distinct characteristic looks in terms of photography . Finally these brands realised there's no point in chasing iPhone/Samsung style photos when they can create their own characteristic look .
6:10 the zoom is insanely clean wow i am impressed
I've not been the biggest Xiaomi fan recently but the photos look incredible on this. And with the screen being pretty nice as well, it looks awesome overall.
That 8k looks epic on my PC monitor.
Great video....if it's photography you're interested in this may be the phone of the year
Awesome review, I was most interested in the camera and photo kit, great job, now if they would sell it in Canada that would be awesome.
Personally, I'm in Canada and will be buying the HongKong version from mainland. Currently HK version costs like $1000 for 512G but will wait a month more to buy.
Not that advisable for every folk as I have personally lived in China for many years and know my way around it.
Hello! Great review! Can you give us videos and bitrates for the video? Especially interested in log!
8:09 that shot😳
I've heard the 14 Ultra no longer looks natural, but many of your shots look deliciously textured to me! Metal, wooden furniture, skin tones, do not loose their properties to the sharpening or color boosting. Do they?
They look photographic, if that makes sense. It's giving classic photography, so luscious and rich in contrast. What makes this fail on Samsungs and work on the 14 Ultra is a combination of Xiaomi's sensor choices and less over sharpening. It's definitely a look, but for me at least, it's a good look.
Fantastic reviews.
Thanks so much Rasheed. Kind words very much appreciated. Basil
I wanted to ask you a question please. I have the honor 90 but the speaker isn't great. Would you recommend another phone please like the honor magic 6 pro?
@@rasheedbedri thicker flagships tend to have more resonant sound, and yes, the Magic 5 Pro and 6 Pro both have excellent speakers. Pro iPhones and the ROG Phone 7 + AeroActive cooler have the very best sound of audio is your number one priority.
@@tech_editThank you very much for your help
I watched this video in the new Xiaomi 14 Ultra Reserve Edition from India
This is the first video of my new phone
Only lenses are provided not that battery unit
Hope they sell it separately in India
Good review video
Keep up the good work
Heyy Bro, I'm too from India! And thinking to buy this mobile especially for Videography. Can you give your suggestions on it ???
Can we lock exposure while recording video? Is there hyperlapse option? Or timelapse?
Yes, exposure can be locked in both auto and pro mode video, and there is timelapse but no hyperlapse.
14 ultra 🔥
I received mine yesterday 😊
Enjoy it!
Can it shoot portrait bokeh video using the front camera?
Does this camera kit cover up the audio inputs ?
It directs the speaker upwards
The mics are at the top, bottom, and within the camera bump, and all are exposed with the case, however the bottom mic is covered when you add the grip. I wonder if the grip supplements it with an additional mic... I will ask Xiaomi and get back to you. Thanks for the question! Basil
A big issue of the 13 Ultra seemed to be bad high volume recording, and filtering of ambient noise (i.e. traffic, beach waves ...) Your video looks just fine but would be nice to test this out.
At 03:05 and 10:50 that’s the audio quality from the phone in a public space that was a little windy and near a main road. I was impressed with the audio to be honest, even in other tests with more background noise. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the review guys. Does it record in constant framerate?
Yup. Included stable exposure change while moving while on video recording. I hope they update for zooming. Usually from 0.5 to 1.0x zoom, it's like jumping. Almost phone has that. But i hope they update to become moving zoom. Not jumping. I think you understand what i talk about. It's hard to explain when my english are not my main language
Which phone is better between xiaomi 14 ultra and vivo x100 pri and vivo x100 pro please ???
Can purchase from you?
Great video! If price wasn't an issue, in terms of camera, battery, and UI, which phone would you choose? Xiaomi 14 Ultra or Honor Magic 6 pro?
As much as I prefer the battery life and UI of the Honor Magic 6 Pro, I'd pick the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, largely because of the camera grip. I can't stress enough how it changed the way I take pictures. I also found the cameras to be more reliable - I always just knew the kind of shot I would get. The Magic 6 Pro was a bit more hit and miss for me.
@@tech_edit Thank you very much !
Yesss buy xiaomi 14ultra
Hi Users, pls let me know how well the phone behave after continuous camera for video recording and photography
Is xiaomi 14 ultra heating? When does it heat? During normal day to day usage also will it heat?
The videos that show it heats are pushing the phone to its limits
And the average user will not be doing that quite often
Received mine just now
Amazing review, bravo.
Might share a lot of similarities to the Ultra here but would love to hear your take on the Xiaomi 14 :)
Can those Leica footers on the photos be turned off?
Absolutely
It's shocking to know about no eSim support!
100% - very strange
I didn't care about it. My cell provider lets me use my phone in like 100 countries just like I use it at home. I would never need another SIM, to be honest.
@@jacobnoergaard who are you with?
jumping straight into critique before saying anything good about the product is really off putting
Can't wait for the 15 ultra to be released 😂
Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for the best video-centric Android phone of 2024.
After 24+ hours of research, I'm leaning heavily towards the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but I'm open to other suggestions.
I'm a content creator, vlogger, and love shooting cinematic videos, so I need a phone that can handle top-tier videography.
I'm not interested in iPhones, and ideally, I'd like to keep the budget under $120,000 INR (but I'm flexible if there's something amazing out there).
What do you guys think? What are your top 2 recommendations for the best videography phone in 2024? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yeah for as camera is pretty good the 14 ultra but its to way expensive and to pay that much higher of a smartphone just for having maybe the best camera phone isn't worth it...... I do prefer paying the same price as the 14 ultra or also for a higher price but on a complete tech phone....
Couldn't wait to get the camera kit, problem is it doesn't work properly, you cant use EV compensation when in pro mode, if you set it to say,, shutter speed or ISO instead, that doesn't work in normal mode, set the zoom lever up, it doesn't work in pro mode, and you cant re-allocate to another function other than zoom which doesn't work in pro mode, surely most of the folk willing to fork out for the camera kit are photographers, professional or armature looing for that familiar feel and control, so why set the dam thing up this way it makes it almost useless, /gutted
Hi Old Bones, thanks for the comment. I've fed those limitations back to Xiaomi HQ, so hopefully they'll address in a software update. That said, the zoom level works in Pro Mode when shooting JPG, but not RAW. For me, it's the physical grip and quick-fire zooming in auto mode that makes it priceless for my shooting, but I totally see how someone who leans more on manual capture would be more restricted by its limitations. I'll let you know if I hear back from Xiaomi PR on this. Basil
Also, I just tested it, EV compensation works for me in Pro Mode too FYI. Basil
@@tech_edit spent all day trying to configure the dammed thing, trying to connect the grip, while in the pro mode, changing mode from photo seeing if it will either remember or keep the same or different settings, nada, will not work, I'll contact xiaomi
2 downsides...No esim and the ois seriously rattling! Otherwise, 14 ultra gets an oscar for me this year!
It not being a good gaming phone is a selling point to me.
Shame that mine had lens fog. Tried every method mentioned, even commercial grade dehumidifiers. That was the reason I returned it and got a refund. The night video was also pretty terrible. Compared to my 5 year old Huawei P30 Pro it was NOT an improvement. But maybe night video could have been improved with software updates. So the reason I returned it was the lens fog. The rest was either great or something I could live with.
This is the reason why I'm still deciding to buy this phone or Vivo x100 pro
So strange. Been reading up on lens fog, but I haven't come across any other journalists who had the issue on their 14 or 14 Ultra. Night video from the main camera was great in my experience, what was your specific issue? Hope you find an excellent alternative or if you pick up another you don't run into the same issue. Basil
@@tech_edit ua-cam.com/video/6-nvfpSuoXw/v-deo.html see night video link. Much worse than my Huawei P30 Pro. ua-cam.com/users/shorts_J3Ef0WZ-EI Lens fogging on my X14U. I returned it and got a refund.
Looks like you got unlucky Jacob. My 14 Ultra in the UK has fortunately been perfectly fine. I have left it out for around 15 minutes in the cold recording 8k video for heat and no issues plus used it on an early morning country walk - no issues.
Hyper Os Works Only On Selected Phones My Redmi Note 10 Pro Wont Get Hyper Os It Was Supposed To Get Security Patches Until March Spoiler Alert Only Got Security Patches November 2023 And The Redmi Note 10 Pro Was Added To The End Of Services List A While Back So Play God Knows The Price The 14 Ultra Will Cost (Shed Loads) So Your Better Off With Samsung
Yeah, Xiaomi still has a way to go when it comes to UI. Its hardware is excellent, though, and as a photography fan, I'm more than okay wading through an interface I'm not in love with to get a camera system like this one. It's very expensive, but it's also unique. What do you think you'll upgrade to from your Note 10 Pro when the time comes?
@@tech_edit Money Is A Bit Tight This Year Basil I Was Thinking Nothing Phone 2A Or Maybe The Motorola Edge 50 Pro Or The One Plus Nord 4CE If I Can Get It For A Good Price
Is it waterproof? Can you use it underwater?
Water resistant - IP68 - so it can be submerged in fresh water for up to 30m at 1.5m.
@@tech_edit TY for the reply. Does that mean fresh water only and not sea water (salt water)?
Correct
Salt water is just fine, simply rinse it good in fresh water after you're done in the ocean
The single reason I'm not buying this phone: no e-sim. Thanks xiaomi for saving my wallet
It's kind of nuts that it's missing it. Hope they release a 14s Ultra with one as it's such a big deal for travelling, for me at least. Thanks for the comment :) Basil
200% the same reason for me. To make matters worst the standard 14 does have esim..
Madness
That phonecamera kit is rubbish if it doesn't work properly on the phone
