I've been using Sony Xperia for many years. It is time to take a break from the models, so I've been looking into Xioami. The first thing I look for in smartphones is camera features and photo qualities.
I was watching your video on my s22 ultra and i was convinced to buy the 14ultra as my next phone. Now I'm back watch this video with my xiaomi 14 ultra. One hella great phone.
I wish phone manufacturers enbraced the 50mm focal length more. A few years back a few phones had dedicaed "50mm" lenses but now it's just a cropped version of the main, "23mm" lens which means pretty nasty images. What I'd give for a phone with a 1 inch sensor and a 50mm equivalent lens.... (this may be physically impossible without a 30mm thick phone, idk)
ZV1 II might be your style. 1" compact. You get a flippy screen, dedicated buttons and dials for efficient operation. Pocketable. It's not far off the G7X Ulysees recommends.
I'd do a Nikon 1 J5 or J4, and the 18mm f/1.8 lens or the Samsung NX equivalent. They're dead systems, so they're relatively cheap on eBay. And it's a f/1.8 at 50mm-equivalent. Most compacts, ZV-1, LX10 etc.. have f/2.8 at the 50mm equivalent end.
i have a xiaomi 14 ultra. The 50mm crop and the 23mm give you the same output 12,5mp, so you do not lose quality when you crop... they do the pixel binning and give you an output with the same quality in this two focal lenght... for the 35mm crop as well
Well loved your video and the honest review of the device but one very very important thing you missed to mention that with that photography kit you enable yourself and your device to directly use 67mm filters etc , you just pick your normal cameras filter up and slap it on back of your phone with kit which has threads on the back and there you go , versatility.
Good to see you back ❤ Phone cameras are becoming more and more impressive every like 2 years, sometimes every year, but you’ve mentioned one really good point - background separation(not bokeh) and depth of field, phone cameras really lack that. I’ve got iPhone 15 and G7X Mark II, no matter what I tried on my iPhone (FilmicPro, Blackmagic Camera and other RAW photo tools), it just never gives that heartwarming and film like photo or video quality like my G7X
Yep, also, lenses, smartphones are really limited for space so the lenses tend to be terrible, they then try to make up for this with by over processing the image, even with AI a micro 4/3s camera with a decent lens still blows any Smartphone out of the water
Yeah, absolutely 👍🏻 I mean my G7X with 1 inch sensor absolutely destroys any latest smartphone and it’s not even close, exactly as you’ve mentioned, lenses and space for lenses is too small on smartphones, also I’m 100% sure that lenses on smartphones are made out of super cheap materials and are nowhere near to lenses on cameras
Hi! I entered in photogrophy because of you and that video of how to make photos look like film. I bought a Canon G9x Mark II but few months later replace it with a G5x Mark II. My question is do you really see this phone as a replacement for a compact camera? I'm pretty sure wide sensor is, and probably even better. But if you use zoom, which is most of the times for me, can hold smaller sensor and computational photography vs a compact camera? Thanks a lot and I love your videos
How did you take the photo @13:15? I'm trying to figure out how you got motion blur on one part of the frame but not the other without a flash. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to cause that.
Is it bad that despite the poor value and feature set compared to a compact 1", I still want this because it looks so good with the orange filter ring and camera grip mod? 😂 I'm kind of over retro camera designs, and this looks so sleek and modern.
Also, thanks for hiring a model. It really helps to bring life to the images and give a lot of credibility to what your saying, as well as supporting those who work around the photography industry. 🙏
My problem with phones and 1 inch sensors is the lens doesn't cover the whole sensor. I'm sure it has light capture advantages but not like they should. So it feels more like a gimmick. I like the images tho, you can see some of the leica color signature
Really? Where did you read about this? I knew Sony made one that didn't cover the whole sensor and it was dumb, but I don't think Xiaomi, Oppo, or Vivo had this problem.
@@shang-hsienyang1284 nah, don't believe in the marketing hype-train from phone companies. The best thing of this cameras probably is the nice glass and lenses they use and the Leica color science behind. But that "one inch sensor" it has is for the main 50mpx camera. The other ones are significantly smaller. I started to suspect about it since I saw the samples. Those are not definitely from a 1 inch sensor with a proper glass covering the sensor.
@@shang-hsienyang1284 nah, don't believe in phone hype-train. Pretty sure all of them are cropped. There is no physical space to cover the sensor with that small glass. This phone has a "main 1 inch sensor" and two more smaller. And that 1 inch sensor pretty sure is not full covered. I'm not dissing the cameras. I think they look nice and they make the best thing it can happen to a phone camera, nice glass and nice Leica colours. But in my opinion, that "one inch camera" doesn't look like one. Specially the bokeh factor. If you're thinking about buying a Xiaomi phone, beware about other "problems". Like ads within the os menus (you can deactivate it but is an annoyance)
Smartphones are compact cameras and replaced almost all of them except RX100 because of 200mm zoom. I like the larger screen compared to 3 inch of compact cameras.
the camera grip is the best thing about this - i wish my iphone had this. I am not too bought in with the Leica look, but the camera grip makes it into a Ricoh GRIII killer for me
It's a quite a bit bigger than a GRIII. Plus it doesn't have the intelligent focus modes, like Snap and Zone Focus Priority, or the incredible lens or aps-c sensor, but I see what you mean.
somehow i feel that "Leica" watermark and exposure setting on a white border, doesnt fit into real photographer. especially for a "real" Leica guy like you...
A phone has a camera but its still a phone because it can call and text. If a slr camera had the ability to phone and text, when does in become a phone. At what point does the Xiaomi become a camera that can call and text
Offer to buy the next model for $2.5k. They might consider it, or maybe they will just take away the lock button and make the chassis magnesium instead. 😂
Welcome Back. Glad to see your new videos on UA-cam again.

yeah that's gonna be really difficult to do with how thin phones are nowadays lol.
Welcome back! Enjoyed the video as always
The quality of this video is insane. Fluid narrative, seemless cuts, passion weighted in your words. Liked and subscribed.

welcome back! Loved the photos, they speak by themselves as you said!
So glad you are back. I’ve been using the Xiaomi Ultra14, and for the times I don’t have my ‘proper camera’ with me, it’s amazing.
Where did you buy it from?? Their own website dont have it for sale
@@MR-AK it’s on general sale in Malaysia, but not in all countries
We missed you, glad you are back, I going to buy this phone!

Welcome back mate!
Thanks for the great video, i also love the xiami 14 ultra camera ❤, I am a leica photographer and I love the Q2, the T but this is another step 🎉
As you mentioned, is there problem with focusing subjects?

It's like my Samsung Galaxy Camera plus the phone features like calls and updated OS. ❤❤❤❤
Whoa! you've been missed.
Where do you buy this in US?
To think yesterday I was like "Ulysses hasn't posted anything in a while, I wonder if he's OK"
I bought this and it's camera s just wow...The only things I don't like is hyper os and the battery😢
How come the battery is weak even though the capacity is big?
The photography kit also allows you to fit 67mm filters
ninguna mencion hacia el modo log ? me interesa bastante
So well made thank you
when I heard it 8:32, my 1st thought is: wait what? YOU HAVE A SON????
His name is Adonis
Great sound at this video! Please tell more about your audio setup?
The music or the voiceover?

unfortunate no weatherproof in the grip....... ...... .....

I'll tell bro
How can we remind Apple that the 1-inch sensor exists?

Why increase the price when people buy anything Apple throws at them?
