    Great Video. Note that when using the included crimps you don't have to remove the insulation from the wire as shown at 3:34 , just make sure both are pushed all the way in and squeeze the connector 4:14 and it will complete the circuit.

    Thanks! I just changed the sensors, and my garage door works again. It took about 20-30 minutes.

    Thank you so much! I watched this video and had no problems changing the sensors out!

    Thank you for this video. I bumped the sensor with our recycling bin and no matter what I tried I couldn’t figure out how to put it back up. Between your video and a little elbow grease it’s back where it belongs, and more importantly, I can open and close my garage door again.

    Got a prob with one sensor. Never had a garage door opener before. Got one at this new house from the previous owner. Long story shorter...I was happy to diagnose that the prob is the sensor. One has a bad connection in the back. I was on the Chamberlain site last night to see about ordering a replacement. Unfortunately I cannot get the original anymore. Think the option are these replacements. CONSISTENT BAD REVIEWS ABOUT THE LITERALLY THE SAME FAILURE OF SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I'd be interested to know if you've had similar issues?

    Why no more than 6"? I would think higher would be better in case the car is left sticking out a few inches. at 6" the beam may have a clear shot underneath the bumper.

    • @davidcovington901
      @davidcovington901 25 днів тому

      Bacause a child or a cat could be lying below the beam yet the door would close.

    @davidblanchard5894 3 роки тому +1

    An ad pops up, without and X-out. in front of you attempting to get a green light. when the beam is correct does the green light flash or become a steady green light?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 роки тому +3

      Should be a steady green light. If you see a blinking light that means the sensors are not properly aligned.

    First, awesome video! Appreciate the upload! One question, why not mount the new sensors onto the wall, the way the previous ones were? Was thinking that wall mounting would have less chance of mechanical shock throwing the senor out of alignment, over time? Also, in the blue background note about the blinking green light, it says "[...] blinking becasue of the camera."?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому

      I agree you could have secured them back to the wall. All valid reasons to do just that. For the demo I just used the rails. When I recorded the light on the sensor the recording made it look like it was blinking. I am guessing its has something to do with the type of light. But it was only blinking due to the camera.

      @@HomeRepairHub Fair enough, wrt the mounting. Also, where I quoted you, I was trying to subtly tell you that "becasue" was spelled wrong in the message about the blinking green light :( If I knew how to put things into a DM in YT, I would have preferred that but I'm not sure YT supports that. Cheers again, overall, however!

    I have the exact replacements, Is it ok if I have to force the bracket somewhat on the rail? I don't want to break them. Also, do I need to expose the wires when I put them into the silicone ends?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому +1

      It will require you forcing the bracket a bit to get it on the rail. It's metal so it won't break. And yes you will need to strip the wires back a bit before putting them in the connector. The copper in the wires has to be exposed inside the connector. I would strip each of the wires back about 1/2 inch.

    Why does it have to be only 6 inches from the ground? Can the sensors be installed higher?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому

      The 6 inch rule is based on safety. If they are mounted higher then 6 inches something or someone could potentially slip below the beam and the door wouldn't stop. It's always good to look at the manufacturers recommendation when placing the sensors. 4-6 inches is standard for most doors, with 6 inches being maximum height recommended.

    • @antoniofred4536
      @antoniofred4536 2 роки тому

      @@HomeRepairHub Sometimes the bumper of cars are higher than six inches, so the sensor will only be activated when it hits the car's tires, so your card could accidentally be under the door before it is activated.

    I have a 1997 1/2 HP Craftsman door opener. When my mom installed it (~a decade ago), there were no sensors and no wires on either side of the door. Is there any way to install sensors to this unit? Or do I have to buy a whole new unit?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому

      Sorry for the late response. Does the opener have a spot for sensor wires on the back? It would be the same type of connection you would have for the push button opener.

    is that normal my sensor light one is green, another one orange?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому

      It's possible. Your orange light is most likely your sending sensor and the green is the receiving sensor. Easy way to tell is to put you hand in front of the beam sensor on the green light. It should flash or possibly go out. That means the sensors are misaligned or something is blocking the beam (in this case your hand is block the beam). Do you know how old your sensors are? What brand are the sensors or opener? Is the garage door not closing properly?

    Why my sensor light not light up?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 роки тому +2

      Which sensor, is it the sending sensor or the receiving sensor? Are both sensor lights off? Usually if the lights are off on both sensors it is because there is a wiring issue or the sensors are bad.

    What about on the unit?? This is just half of the info no ?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому +1

      What do you mean? If you are simply replacing the sensors you shouldn't need to do anything at the opener. Assuming that the sensors you had before were working properly. Are you having an issue?
