- Sound gets better near the end so watch the whole thing.
These guys are insane.
This is a repost from a longer complete soundcheck where nothing is really happening. I just took the highlights. Three songs 'Searching, Finding', Scophile and an uptempo jazztune I dont know. Dont like? just tell me I'll remove its that simple...
Vinnie Colaiuta
John Patitucci
John Beasley
Steve Tavaglione
Vinnie could throw his sticks at the drums in a total random manner and I'd still watch it and enjoy it greatly
Pattitucci and vinnie were unbelievable 😮💨that pocket!
Such a young Patitucci. And monster Vinnie doing what he always does. Being totally awesome.
Vinnie is such an insane monster/super-technical hybrid. There's no one like him. My favourite by far... and oh yeah, Patitucci, jeez...
Prime Vinnie. What a grooving beat. Crisp as crisp.
Saw this exact line up unintentionally at the Glendale Bar and Grill. 1990. ( Went for a feed). Vinnie was playing a tiny kit and just nihilating the gig. Incredible. I still have the vinyl self titled debut Patitucci record these tunes came from. Great post. Thanks.
totally remember this album when it came out. love it
Vinnie such a force of nature. Unbelievable
Vinnie’s cross-stick 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 the best!
Well, everything he does is the best!!!!!
Oh yeah when I got there I remembered your comment. It's so good.
Cool Club I played there with Blood Sweat And Tears
I mean from out the blocks, what a groove by Vinnie which sets you up nice for whats coming, and especially the very end, wow.
16:50 Patitucci abandons playing and watches in awe at the master on the kit ...someone call 911 Vins on fire!
Wouldnt we do the same? Pfff amazing player
With the cigarette. I just saw Vinnie with Herbie Hancock on Feb 15. He was as brilliant as ever even at 63. He recently quit smoking and gained a ton of weight. Regrettably, he's having hip problems as well; when taking final bows and leaving stage he walked with a pronounced limp. Age catches up with us all, eventually.
fr0103 gmailcom just saw and met him, and sad to report that he still smokes.
It does or he could watch what he eats lose weight and not have a hip problem.
The weight needs to come off smoke or not. The weight is more a symptom of unhealthy living than the the cigs in my opinion. NOT saying smoke but glottogony is a pathway to crappy living IMHO
Oh my gosh .. Can't believe how great the sound quality is !!!
Sounds beautiful! What a bass player! Top notch musicians.
Tune is called: "Change of Seasons"
he does a triplet fill in minute 2:08 but left hand and bassdrum dammmmm
Se le nota a john que disfruta tocar con vinnie, excelente,
Fantastic musicians! Thank you for sharing!
Vinnie was 36 yrs old
...and Patitucci - 33 ☺
Saw him in 91 with Sting and he was fantastic. As were the rest of that band.
That opening weckl groove ... Wow. Oops. I mean Vinnie!!!
lol.. vinnie plays on the original tune. "change of season".
@@JoEsp yeah I know. I remember buying this CD listening to this track, thinking wow this is great drumming reading sleeve notes, oh, it's not DW it's VC. Wow...
Love Weckl but Vinnie has soul that Weckl dreams about.
another guy to recommend is Gergo Borlai lots of Vinnie influence
FIRE
lovely !!!!!
Wow...
Awesome recording !
Is that at the strand in Redondo beach?
The Rehearsal sounds like the recording? Such incredible players!
Mind blown.
Interestingly this is the same year Vinnie and John played in the Chick Corea Acoustic Band live at the Blue Note Tokyo. It's cool to see how different they sounded and played in that setting. check it out here on YT.
Interesting I didnt realise that it was the same year
I used to be a weckl fan untill i saw. Vinnie
I know what you mean. I got that first John Patitucci solo record with both Weckl and Vinnie on it and I thought who IS that guy??
Checo Ruiz, Jeroen Vrolijk FYI: Buddy Rich memorial concert 1989 Part II - both Dave and Vinnie in one show (playing separately and then together with Steve Gadd). Highly recommended.
I had the same experience. I was a Weckl fan and then I saw Vinnie. I still love Dave but Vinnie is the best of the best.
Nobody is BETTER than Vinnie. Maybe as good.....
same as Weckl
Seems like he's a lot more aggressive live. Saw him once w Shorter, but never electric. Thanks!
John Harvey back in da fusion era where there was still money to be made playing that kind of music
Wow
WOW
Alien!!!!
much much much better than JP2
Is this the Strand in Providence RI?
