    Don't hate me for this comment... BUT... I always thought John Pattitucci embraced the tone and playing sensitivity of Jaco, the technical prowess of Jeff Berlin, and the passion and soul of Stanley Clarke. Pattitucci is a great bassist and musician! I listened to this man long before the others I just mentioned.

      I think others are ahead of him with the fancy slapping and tapping - but aside from that, I don't you'll find any of them are nearly as melodic and tasteful in their choice of notes - let alone total mastery over the upright.

    Best bass John played in my opinion. Incredible tone for fingerstyle playing

    I went through this process of taking my cassette recorder into the library at MI and recorded every video I liked and of course I lost this one! THANK YOU FOR POSTING! Its how discovered Tom Brechtlein.

    Damn Gambale playing a Kramer?? THAT is a thin, lifeless tone (although awesome to see him playing circa 1985 1986. I once had a Kramer Baretta, and easily one of the most forgettable axes I've owned. I guess they were cool right around then due to the EVH factor.
