#ThrowbackThursday
Don't hate me for this comment... BUT... I always thought John Pattitucci embraced the tone and playing sensitivity of Jaco, the technical prowess of Jeff Berlin, and the passion and soul of Stanley Clarke. Pattitucci is a great bassist and musician! I listened to this man long before the others I just mentioned.
I think others are ahead of him with the fancy slapping and tapping - but aside from that, I don't you'll find any of them are nearly as melodic and tasteful in their choice of notes - let alone total mastery over the upright.
Best bass John played in my opinion. Incredible tone for fingerstyle playing
Love Patitucci's sound on his old bass!
yeah, thats the dream tone everybody tried to copy, including me lol
Ken Smith Basses sound great in johns hands
Man...his Ken Smith sounds a thousand times better than his Yamahas.
agreeeeeeeed
A matter of taste. I like his early 90s Yamaha much more. And his new semi acousic is amazing too!
for real
I agree with you man.
I absolutely agree with you
This is a dream to watch and hear
So nice to be reminded of that song Growing again at 22:18. from Johns 'John Patitucci'- 1988...First I thought it was Schmooze, link below.

gamballe is killing as well!
Yeah! I was there for this. I remember hanging with Frank when was preparing for this.
I'm jealous, Scott. :-)))) Always dreaming to meet Frank, but only I succeeded for is to learn to play/perform "Spike's Song".....Cheers!
One of the best in the world!!
I went through this process of taking my cassette recorder into the library at MI and recorded every video I liked and of course I lost this one! THANK YOU FOR POSTING! Its how discovered Tom Brechtlein.
Great Stuff - both Electric and Double Bass tone and playing is just incredible.
And Damn John's tone was almost perfect
Almost?!
Very 80’s Sound, Instruments (Drum Set) And Mixing Also, But These Was So Interesting! I Like It
Aprox. from the min 32 they play Got a Match? of the Chick Corea Elektric Band first album
Frank Gambale on guitar, Tom Brethlein on drums but I don't recognize the keyboardist: Pat Coil???
Yup that's Pat Coil
JP the GOAT man.
Greattttt Patitucci !!!...
Damn Gambale playing a Kramer?? THAT is a thin, lifeless tone (although awesome to see him playing circa 1985 1986. I once had a Kramer Baretta, and easily one of the most forgettable axes I've owned. I guess they were cool right around then due to the EVH factor.
Gee... they were freaking young!!!
superman on bass
Featuring a young and skinny Frank Gambale
Drums could use more reverb and gate.
Welcome to the 80's Bruah
lol ;)
Who’s playing drums here? Who know?
Tom Brechtlein
O som do yamaha é bom demais...mas Podia voltar pro ken smith...mais bonito o timbre
Is there any tracklist?? pls at least the name of the las tune please
What year is this from?
What's the date ?
42:10 Peace and Quiet.
sarcastic son of a .....
post your shit so we can poop all over it i dare ya
Don't like Frank's sound here.
Yeah i dont think hes too comfortable with his tone either
Not enough gain,
He still played really good!!
👍🙂 GREAT musicians/musicianship, miserable sound...😣
