Invasion of the Vines! Smart Fall Garden Prep

- we finally gain some control over the dipper gourd Vines that are overtaking everything, we gather our seed corn, take down the dried corn patch, weed, till and replant BEANS!
As we know, beans are awesome Nitrogen Ninjas, and that's one thing our corn and sunflowers have sucked this soil dry of! It's nearly mid September, so not the best time to be planting anything other than lettuce or carrots, but even without producing an edible bean, our plantlings will produce leaves which will funnel all the nitrogen in the air into the roots and out into the soil. Add a layer of compost in early winter and by spring, our soil will be ready for round 3!

What Up this fine Kentucky Morning Neener & Josh. This has been our longest dry period here in So. Jefferson Co., hope we get some moisture out of this weak front, our city water, which is Very good & price properly is tied-in now (don't know how the devilish Bast*rds managed this being 2 different entities), with our sewer dept. which is Not Good and Not Price appropriately, they set the bill by water in, watering the yard & garden's getting expensive

I get some similar vines. If I plan ahead a tad (other weeds to cut too) I find where the vine comes from earth/cut and let be a couple few days. Helps a bit, even if only color change.
Name drop FYI: Fiskars makes a dandy 15" geared-ish lopper. Gears can articulate to wider like a snake's jaw for a larger weed turned small tree. ~ Sharp anvil cut type. ~~ When wearing jeans I can slide into back pocket while crawling through the mini jungle. ~15"..wap wap wap, saplings/pruned branches are sized for a smaller fire/pit vs very long loppers (which I do have also). The 15" jobbie I've used for at least 15 years now and my Go To. ~~ I just peeked. Search around they can be had for 22.00? ..I'm far off from y'all, but H.depot was.

Bury dead fish in your garden. You will be amazed by the results
Try some crimson clover over winter to generate nitrogen sometime

You might consider sulphur when you put that ash out. It takes a year to get right but cabbages don't mind it in the mean time.
