Fat Mike talks Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, going to the rodeo, wearing a lot of hats, and line dancing with Joey Cape #punk #podcast #fatmike #fatmikesfatmic #nofx #fatwreckchords
Please don’t stop doing this. I know it’s a little haphazardly done sometimes (sorry), but it’s entertaining and there’s those of us who care enough to watch every video.
Hey Mike, love the show. Any chance we could get a video someday about your thoughts or any memories of Tony Sly? I love the songs he wrote and just was curious if you had anything you could share about the past, touring, hanging out, or recording stories. Edit: Also the Tribute record turns 10 years old this month
First of all what a treat, thank you Mike. I just repurchased "loves their country" and "mild in the streets" this past week so it's a nice coincidence to see this.
I grew up in South Africa. We learned to line dance in primary (elementary) school for no damn reason. I'm 36 now; it's never come in handy yet, but then again neither has trigonometry.
i was in a band that used to open for the gimmes and when they were onstage i would sneak in their green room and drink their beer...btw, they're the best!!! thanks mike!!!
Mike's transformation from shit-stirring drama queen into extremely sentimental elder statesman for the punk scene (and you know, still the other thing) is kinda heartwarming
I just think that the original MFGG lineup should come back, at least, for a while...and perhaps, who knows, produce a new album (or two...). Jus sayin'...
I miss the old punk rock days. Skank pits and Mohawks! Shows at the elks lodge. Now I’m just a weird old tattooed guy. This makes me feel a bit normal.
That show at Cow Palace a few weeks ago was do damn fun! I really hope you guys don't stop playing shows. You don't have to tour, people will come to you.
for the record spike and i grew up in pittsburgh and he used to torture me for being straightedge and years later he would religiously apologize to me while we would smoke weed together on tour...i love ya spike!!! and you're forgiven...no big woop...
My only question is if Cokie the Clown is leaving us as well, or will we at least be able to road trip to LA for some solo Cokie the Clown shows (since it seems any touring is out of the question for Mike?)
If Mike didn't say he wrote it ahead of time, I could've guessed it, as he is the only song writer in the world who would try to rhyme "black" with "methamphetamines"
Waking up to find Fat Mike sleeping on my couch still wearing his sunglasses is a sight I will never forget. Oregon 1994ish..
By far the best Gimmes song that's not a cover for sure!
I see what you did there 😂
The unbridled joy in mike's face while watching this is palpable, authentic and contagious!
Joey Cape can do anything and everything.
Please don’t stop doing this. I know it’s a little haphazardly done sometimes (sorry), but it’s entertaining and there’s those of us who care enough to watch every video.
I do, but none or less, it was funnier with Sam...
Please don't encourage this.
💙💙💙
Mike!! You will forever be the best 💙🤘
💯

I haven't seen someone that honestly happy in such a long time. It was infectious. Thank you for sharing this!
Mike has given the music world so much, it’s great to see him laughing and happy.
Love you sharing these little snippets of your career with us. Please keep 'em coming!
I always though I was such a nerd, but I refuse to eat that strange bean curd.
The gimme gimmes rainbow connection cover will be on my playlist till I die. One of the most fun/rewarding songs to play on bass.
Where do you get an accurate tab?
@@ASM881 I never found one. Just trial and error over and over until I pieced it together.

Caper has albums with horses and guys named Hoss, which means horse in slag, Joey might be a secret cowboy

Seeing the look of pure happiness on your face was amazing
I wish Me First would ruin my wedding

I like the way he said "fun shit" lol

Baths were only 10¢ and I gurantee Fat Mike still didn't partake. Gotta keep the crust fresh.
With great friends greatness is achieved

Will the gimmes be doing more after NOFX is over?
Orlando was magical. Blowing bubbles and making fwiends.
Long live Mike Burkett, NOFX and the Gimmes.
What a trip!

My only question is if Cokie the Clown is leaving us as well, or will we at least be able to road trip to LA for some solo Cokie the Clown shows (since it seems any touring is out of the question for Mike?)

Me first
I miss this era of gimmes.
The song isn't on any Gimme's album?
Feed me
Punk In The Park 2021 was your Death Knell of being a Gimmie
If Mike didn't say he wrote it ahead of time, I could've guessed it, as he is the only song writer in the world who would try to rhyme "black" with "methamphetamines"
The theme tune is back!
cool background noise
Thank you Mr pharmacist mike
Sounds similar to Sixteen Lanes of Highway by Murray McLauchlan to me!
I've missed hearing the intro to this.
Who’s gotta smoke for the Caper?!
40 seconds in and I already laughed. #dejavu
Hahaha the Caper's the best
Mike when are we going to get a new Gimmes album????
