I've been on a helicopter few times. I tried to pull off my headset. The noise is incredibly high. Considering the distance, what really amazes me here is the noise of the S4 still coming trough and overriding the engine of the helicopter, only few mts away, to the mic.

What machine, and that instant torque & throttle response through the gearbox, and out of the tighter corners with it's twin charged set up, out of all the group-B motors the abarth tuning was the best, complex design, but they got it working a treat.

Marvdogger2 I wanted to ask you for information. Many years ago on youtube there was a video of a Japanese cameraman who had climbed the Delta s4 with Toivonen. Have you ever seen that video? I've been looking for it for so many years but it's gone.
You can hear the car _from_ _inside_ _the_ _helicopter_... I means it's fast, very very very fast but just imagine the brutality of something that fast _and_ that loud going past you.
@2:34 Not only the cars were Group B, also the spectators standing in the outside corner were group B. Nowadays you need a telescope to see some action, I would say.............
480bhp - 530bhp depending on boost. Normally on a rally they would run around 480bhp range. Only really running over 500bhp on tarmac and short stages as 1. Gravel, ice, snow mud which 80% of rally's you only spin the wheels with too much power and 2. The high power on the S4 gave to handling problems and blown turbo's.
@@Marvdogger2 Lombardi said 650 with manual overboost by driver for short spurts in last 1986 models In tests with Toivonen they reputedly went up to 1014 CV (interview of Pianta guy running FIAT motorsports division which btw used to give my good friend pass for F1 in Ferrari box in Monza which I took advantage of)

I like to think that the helicopter is full throttle too, to keep up with the car

I don’t think a modern drone like they use on the WRC now (as well as helicopters) could keep up with a Group B car on the straights.

I was blown away last week when Jay Leno drove an actual S4....on the street😎
Klasse Act It was just a shame they didn’t go over the car in more detail and drive it some more so Jay could get more of a sense of the performance.
