I watched the documentary called "Rallying...The Killer Years" and bought it here on UA-cam and based on what I saw it wasn't the cars that killed their drivers it was drivers going beyond their limits. Also driving when they shouldn't have due to illness or being unfamiliar with the car and not getting enough seat time. That said Groupe B needs to come back!

A few months ago i found out why, they shot over 20 hours of interviews and then edited them down to one hour!! Luckily they have released the mostly uncut interviews in book form and the book is much better than the documentary.

Marc Surer went over the limit in a car he did not know well enough. He survived badly injured but his co driver Michel Wyder died in the accident. Happened the same month that we lost Henri and Sergio in Corsica.
The same people did the doc called Grand Prix - The Killer years before they made the Group B doc and i liked that it had lots of new footage and they went into archives to dig it up. When i heard they were doing a Group B doc i though great. Hopefully they'll dig into BBCs archive and TF1 in France plus others and use footage that has'nt been broadcast since the 80s. The of course when i watched it they had just recycled the same old footage that has been used loads of times before and they left too much out. They should have made it a two or three part documentary and covered the years in more detail. If you haven't seen much about Group B and happen to see it. it's ok from that point of view. As a fan of Group B though it was a missed opportunity.
I'm very happy that I'm living just 3 hours away from the Eifel Rallye festival. It's so nice to see these cars in real life. And very nice video, your group B videos are awesome.

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM was composed by-Clint Mansell,and the MUSIC by LUX Aeterna this last one starts mellow then gets more dramatic,TWO STEPS FROM HELL (LEGEND) was composed by Thomas j bergrsen i had ari vatanen in his MANTA 400 on the Manx rally ( dear god)with the music of VAN HALEN
Ripping from dvd - computer is easy. There is free software to download that makes it easy. Alot of high street shops will transfer vhs to dvd have a look on google for ones in your area. Most of the rally stuff release by Duke Video is already on dvd but anything else is worth doing.

Walter always said the crowds didn't bother him much he was always more bothered with finding the perfect line and perfecting his driving style and the people always jumped out of the way at the last minute anyway. I'am sure drivers no adays would lift though if presented with the same crowds and people on the road.
The insane crowds are somehow reminiscent to Pamplona bull run. At some level it's understandable that those with camera are trying to get awesome (although extremely dangerous) pictures but the majority was just standing in the middle of the road for as long as possible, defying death, proving they're courage or something. The problem also seemed to be limited to south-european crowds. What i have seen finnish, british, africans etc didn't behave like that. Of course, there are always exceptions. In the end, this wasn't Group B:s fault, it was the local organizers lack of control and FIA:s relaxed attitude towards loose crowd control, it should not have been labeled as one of the reasons for ending Group B. Luckily this was mended and i think the rally events are better because of it.

Speaking of fuel consumption, did you know the 037 did somewhere around 29mpg? That’s great for a purpose built rallier!

Looking at the crowds and the cars speeding towards them,didn't any of the drivers have a tendency to let off the gas? That's what I would do.

There's a reason why Group-B was so insanely popular and is still missed today. The cars have become too "sterile" technically, too regulated.
