I remember this was a huge deal in my high school. It was such a big deal that we had groups of ninjas and pirates spray painting and claiming areas of my small town. One morning my older brother woke me up and told me that a news reporter was doing a story on it and showed some of the areas that we were spray painting ninja faces and pirate faces. I was so proud...
Damn this dude hasn’t been a playable character since Soulcalibur III which is released 15 years ago.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that, also SC 3 is better than SC 6, the difference between them is only the combat system

Hwang deserves this. He’s been benched for over 20 years. ( Not counting the guest character sc3 crap) Though he wasn’t one of my favorites back then, I’m so glad to see him return. Really gives me that old soul cailbur feel. Not to mention that design looks nice 👍
Bonus, not Guest, and he became a regular in the Arcade edition of SC3 along with Amy and Li-long.
However, I have to tell you that I liked and felt more comfortable with the Chinese Sword style for custom characters (which was the one given to Hwang) than with Yunseong's style.
He needs to be a Regular Character in The Console Version of Soul Calibur 3
(Soul Calibur 4) including
Soul Calibur 2 (Soul Calibur 3) also
Soul Calibur 4 (Soul Calibur 5) &
Soul Calibur 5 (Soul Calibur 6) so they need to go back and fix those over they can’t leave the 1st Timeline unfinished or SC Games on PS2 Xbox Gamecube PS3 & 360 unfinished without him
Man I'm liking the direction they went in with him! Of coarse he's way different from what he use to be. But he retains some of his signature moves from SE & SC1. This also separates him from Yun-Seong who for the longest time played too similar to him in my opinion.
The fact that they chose a SC4 outfit for Mina does raise some questions, so maybe this Hwang is from that timeline to make up for his absences from past games.
@@brandonparker6696 he definitely seems to be from a different timeline or reality since this hwang seems to be older. Since sc6 takes place at the beginning of the casts’ story then the hwang in sc6’s timeline would be younger than the one that was shown here.

Honestly I was the same with Cassandra, but the improvements they’ve been making rly made them into superior characters again.

This is the 1st good dlc character to be added to SC6. They've been pandering to weebs & casuals, up to this point. None of the other dlc characters belong in a story set between SC1 & SC2. This game has been a total mess.

Only good thing to come out of Soul Calibur 6 so far, fans begged Hwang to be in the game, now he’ll be playable next month and got his Soul Chronicle Story.

Soul Edge/Soul Blade has the best soundtracks of any fighting game ever. And they give you THREE arrangements to choose from, with one being completely revamped from the ground up. The presentation and overall aura of the series peaked right from the very beginning, and the music was an enormous part of that.

It's pretty cool to see Hwang using his spinning sword strikes, Liu Kang's bicycle kick and Chun Li's rapid kicks.

hwang was one of my favorite characters in soulblade and has one of my favorite themes in the series. I never owned SC 1 and he was basically a custom character in SC III so i basically havent used him much since i was a child.

He started off as a replacement for Mitsurugi in the Korean version of Soul Blade due to the rocky relationship between Korea and Japan.
In case u don't know, Hwang is one of the servants of Admiral Yi-Sun Sin, the hero who just beat an entire Japanese naval army trying to invade Korea with only 13 boats despite of numbers.
Also, Japan tried to invade Korea during World War II. At that time, Japan was allied with Italy and Germany known as Axis Powers.

Hey, seeing how different they've made Hwang's playstyle, maybe they'll put Yun-Seong in a potential season 3
Yun Seong has been one my favorite characters in Sc since 2 despite being low tier so having Hwang have a very different style does make me have Hope for Yun Seong in Season 3 if there is one.

Old Hwang used to play around and not take everything seriously. New Hwang is now badass and takes everything Seriously.
I hope to see Zwei, Patroklos, Pyrrha, Elysium and Ezio back. It would be great and they would have their opportunity to shine that they did not have in Soul Calibur 5. If a Soul Calibur 7 comes out it would be perfect to make them come back.

0:25 Look like they gave him some ranged attacks. Looks kinda like Ivy's sword, but with the handle segmented and not the blade. Or some kinda new tool he uses with the sword.
