- In this video I'll show you how you can backup your important files from your Windows 10 PC to an external hard drive. An external hard drive is a small device roughly the same size as the palm of your hand and connects to your PC via a USB cable.
Transferring files from your PC to the hard drive is a fairly simple task and all you need to do is open up the File Explorer and either drag and drop the files to the desired hard drive, or right click and select the send to option.
You can now view all my UA-cam videos in one place on my official website: www.subterrane...
Exactly what I was looking for! I love how you tell us to pay attention to the left side, that way we're not trying to follow your mouse everywhere. Thanks for an understandable video!
After we send the files from one place to another for example from my internal storage space in my laptop to an external hard drive can I then delete the original files from my directory? Please let me know as I dont see the point of having the same files again
@@marco7838 Once you have copied the files to you external hard drive, you can delete the original files. They are not linked so the copied files will not be affected.
I wanted a quick and easy way to transfer my photos from my photography to my very first external hard drive. I’m so glad I found this because now I know how to do it! Thnx for making it quick and simple!
Thanks for posting this. I plan on buying an external HD. I'm getting warnings now that my internal drive is maxing out. I was wondering what the transfer process was. You explained it perfectly.
After watching other people explain how to transfer files into a hard drive and still not understanding. You made it so simple great video thank you very much
Thank you! So helpful for someone older who doesn't have a clue! You showed me exactly what to do so I didn't have to call my son. So happy.
Extremely clear and thorough tutorial yet short and sweet! Thanks so much!!
Amazing! You provided a simple explanation for a process that is so . . . simple - while other contributors want to dazzle viewers with their use of tech terms or a mind-bending lecture on digital technology. Thank you for having the genius to explain something that is so simple, in a way that does not make it sound difficult.
Perfectly simple and still works in 2022 because Windows core functions have not actually changed since 1998. Except for icons and toys!
Thank you for this video, I had to go through a few searches to find this and it is exactly what I am looking for
Thank you!! I spent so much time trying to figure this out, and your video was perfect!
Thanks so much! This was super easy to follow and a superb explanation!

@@marco7838 I believe you can delete the files so you can save storage on your internal. However, if the drive gets corrupted or damaged in the future then it will be lost forever since that's the only copy you have. If the files are too important, I advise that you don't delete it so you still have it on different locations, just in case. :)))
Excellent, im assuming you do same in reverse if you need to tfer files from hard drive to a pc?
Absolutely.
You can also "copy" , choose receiving file and " paste" , and it will do the same as drag and drop or send to. Yes?
Excellent explanation! Thank you!
yah but now i cant play the video from my ssd says file Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.?!?!?!
Very helpful. Thanks
A great tutorial. Thank you
I need to specifically move my Xbox Captures folder to save space on my drive, but unfortunately, in order to move it I need to drag and drop but when you drag and drop it copies, not moves as seen here in the video.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks for keeping it simple and understandable
So I am kind of curious because I ran into an issue recently were my main storage on my PC does not have enough space on it to install an update for my GPU drivers. Could I possibly shift all my GPU driver installation folders to an external hard drive that is connected to my PC without issue or would it cause my GPU to be nonfunctional if I shifted it?

What to do if the external hard drive doesn't detected in my windows 10
If a device isn't automatically detected, you can usually find it through the "file explorer". Sometimes this is located on the bottom taskbar. If not click on the Windows icon, and type in "file explorer" into the search box, and once it opens, on the left hand side, you should see all your folders and devices listed.
Since I can’t delete program files 86x hopefully this helps because windows comes with that folder file and isn’t meant to be deleted

So if i see that they have been transferred successfully to the external hard drive, i can then delete them from my computer??
Yes
How do you select multiple files at the same time to transfer? To make the process quicker?
Use EaseUS Partition Master
I believe holding down shift and using the arrow keys should work
you hold ctrl and click then drag it to ur harddrive

Thank you!
