The fact he's the cab is the same size as the original has really sold me on this figure. I don't collect MPs but at the size he is he will fit in with my chug figures.
I wasn't going to buy him until I say that he was "CHUG" scale. I don't have MP either. I buy MP scale if it scales better with "CHUG" I scale most of my transformers based on vehicle size not cartoon or robot. For example, I like "jet" transformers to be larger than vehicles...I don't mind if the robot modes don't match cartoon scale. Since the deceptions are usually jets, it makes them a bit more menacing.
Thanks for the video. I really appreciate the comparisons. Looks like this is another reset of the MP line just as MP 10 was a reset before this. Powermaster Optimus Prime was a Holy Grail figure for me as a kid that I was never able to get. The Haslab Victory Saber figure got me into the Japanese Transfomers series. Since then I also backed Deathsaurus. Once you get Super Ginrai I would love to see how it compares to the Haslab Victory Saber and Haslab Deathsaurus not just in scale but in style. Those are the figures I want to display together. Again thanks for the video and keep up the great work! With this release and the upcoming Star Optimus Prime / Convoy, what a time to be a Japanese Transformers fan.
Looks like the MP version and the MPG versions are painted differently. The eyes are a different colour and the one here has silver on the panels beneath his pectoral windows.
@@terra.obxcura Considering that it's comparable to G1 (Super) Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime as is, unlike MP44 who dwarfs G1 Optimus...yeah, it's definitely smaller than MP44's truck cab.
@@DragoonMS aye... that is if we go by OG toys. But in-universe (anime/animation)... isnt Ginrai cab mode relatively the same size as Optimus cab mode? cuz both are short nose cab, so wouldnt they technically transform into roughly the same size robot?
I think it's great he scales with SS86OP. If in the G1 (north American) continuity he's supposed to be the same character then it makes sense to be the same size. If you collect MP then it makes sense to you since Ginrai isn't OP and is supposed to be a smaller bot than OP. I hope to get my hands on this guy someday.
I never had g1 prime just g1 power master prime a special gift to make me feel better from my mom wish I told her how amazing she was as a mom . I would love this guy but way to much I wonder if theres a ko of power prime will check love to have it again and G1 prime . Still no luck on 86 prime boy not having luck with primes just no money . I do have a hybrid Convoy figure came out a few years ago small but my first Prime with the classic style trailer and roller 70 from Japan so thats nice .
There will be a difference between this and MPG09 cab. This one is toy deco'd while MPG09 cab is toon deco'd. I think the idea is you can choose to have this one in the MPG09 trailer to a have a more accurate toy look. Also be careful with the tabs around the smokestack area as they are apparantly a bit long and can snap if not transformed properly.
It's not Masterpiece though because it does not scale with the others in the line. Also the only difference between the G1 toys is that Hasbro was cheap and removed all diecast for plastic.
It is masterpiece and it does scale. Have you seen the masterforce cartoon? Ginrai is small. He’s no where near as big as Optimus prime. As they’re totally different characters. He’s the same size as the junior headmasters. So he is in fact the perfect size.
@ yes I have seen a bit of it (not into it honestly). This is Optimus Prime. It turns into a semi truck. Not a small semi truck. You even agreed with someone who said this scaled with their chug figures. That’s fine if MP is going to scale with chug now to fill in gaps where Hasbro won’t make a figure, but this is no longer Masterpiece in scale. Also the scale chart have the cabs of Prime and “Ginrai” the same size.
Uncertain. The train bots were supposedly scaled to the train modes for japanese model train colectors and this one seems to be it's own thing. Until we see the the next original MPG that isn't a redeco we don't know yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if MPG focuses more on Japanese continuity characters where scale is different to western G1. Having said that some of the previous MPs are getting re-releases in MPG like Ironhide and Hoist. Also we know Takara were going to release an MP Cliff retooled form the version 2 Bumblebee so I imagine that will get released in MPG. I think scale will be determined more by the continuity the character is supposed to be set in rather than having everything scale with western G1/Sunbow chart.
I was thinking about this as Powermaster Optimus was my favourite toy when i was a kid in the 80s, but the scale doesn't do it for me so i think i will stick with Powerbaser as i think this Ginrai is to small for my masterpiece scale collection. What i would like to see is a new generations Ginrai/PM OP as the titans return version is a bit of a shakey boi especially when combined with god bomber.
I agree. Is this shrinkflation that we see with food items? Or some sort of ridiculous green environmental target? As the item isn't particularly large as such? (Less plastic) Just a thought The presentation is beautiful though.
It’s got diecast parts and it’s obviously the engineering that’s gone in to it. Just look at newage for example core class size with far superior engineering and they’re £40/ £50
He’s a tad too tiny, seems a bit underwhelming, honestly. The whole Ginrai gimmick is just that, gimmicky (outside of the lore factor). I’d rather have a proper MP class OP. Considering this is the ‘end’ of the MP line, more of a whimper than a bang, IMO.
I think if you’re looking for a standard MP-scaled Optimus, the MP-44 or MP-10 mold would be the way to go. Plus, if this figure were the same size as them, the combined Super mode we see with MPG-09 would be enormous.
@@EagleBot13But he is not in scale. For one the tf wiki has genrai as taller then optimus. Prime is 6m tall and genrai is 10m tall. Now even if we ignore this(the tf wiki is incorrect sometimes), the cartoon chart has genrai listed as been as tall as Optimus prime. Even in the show genrai is shown to be taller then all the other autobots with the exeption of god bomber. So by all office metrics MP genrai is to small.
@@EagleBot13I think they mostly did it to appeal to a broader audience, think most buyers are mainline collectors and this will fit in there, most mp collectors are opting out, cause scale and intricacy are gone

Yeah exactly. He’s a great addition

8:51 I can wait for the cab mode comparison between MP-60 and MP-44
That’s a phenomenal Ginrai. Truck mode looks excellent, robot mode is incredible. Love the chrome and how he has diecast parts.
Wow the Toy version cab looks really nice. Thanks Russ
Thanks for watching and commenting
Looks like the MP version and the MPG versions are painted differently. The eyes are a different colour and the one here has silver on the panels beneath his pectoral windows.
MP60 Ginrai = Toy Version (red eyes just like the G1 toy)
MPG9 Super Ginrai = Anime Version (blue eyes)
Fun fact: Ginrai is supposed to be smaller than Optimus. He is only carbot size, same size as GoShooter and Minerva.
Something that nobody seems to remember or realize...
is Ginrai's cab mode smaller than Optimus's cab mode too?

It almost seems like this was meant to be a "Missing Link" Ginrai rather than an MP version of him.
I’ve done some research and someone else has commented too. That he’s the perfect size as Ginrai was a lot smaller than Optimus prime
He looks really nice, its a lot smaller than i thought for the price.
this could work as a chug ginrai due to his size which i think is pretty cool
Yeah he fits perfectly

Yeah, and I think that MPG9 or MP60 is also supposed to include a set of stickers for the MPG9 trailer to get that toy accurate look.
Thr trailer is not included?
Not with this one this is just Ginrai.
Super Ginrai has the trailer
