yeah he doesn't outright cheat or use dirty tactics like some of the other fighters (though a few are fairly clean, Joe, Von Kaiser and Hondo for example play by the rules, Don Flamenco is a 'maybe' if it wasn't for the perfume.) the most you could probably get him on is his smack-talking in the ring... though that often depends on the venue.

In all fairness, there's no way to telegraph _where_ Sandman throws the uppercut, only _when,_ hence why you can dodge in either direction to avoid the uppercuts.
I'm not sure if you realize this, but you can still recover if you mash the healing buttons, and then Mac has a "don't give up" gimmick. It's your last chance, but you can make it count.

You need to counter everything he throws at you. With Speed too. Fast and precise and those stars can be easily obtained!! And when he’s about to do that Dreamland express, force him to dodge then use your star punch to instantly take him down!
Mr. Sandman is the Greatest Punchout Character ever. Also he's the one that gave me the most difficult time fighting! They need to make another Punchout Game Featuring Him like the original old school version. With him doing all of the 💩 talking he does during the fight. It's fun.
I dont know about yall but the dodges he does (when you try to punch him when he sets his arms down and is about to throw 3 uppercuts) look cool asf the animations are great edit: 1:53 is an example
