My FG Baja 4×4 is just sat in the shed. Wish I had more time to go rippin'. Maybe in the future when it is a vintage and worth a fortune i will do something with it.

As an "old guy" those beetle bodies are sick. I want a 1:8 beetle body for an rc project, but they don't seem to exist.

I got my first 5th scale fg marder in 1990 they came with a 23cc zenoah 2 stroke and with the standard exhaust can they absolutely ripped.
i've also had 2 fg Baja one I still own 2 wheel drive and use every week it's bog standard and bulletproof it's 26cc. zenoah engine keeps up against modern km Baja with 30.5cc all day long.
I own a team associated, creepy crawler, from 2009, nothing better than old r.c. crawlers. Runs and crawls well.

another rare large scale r/c is the MRC Nitro Thunder King, less than 1200 nitro conversion kits made
Had one briefly was still 2 stroke was going to convert it to brushless but was so long ago didn't have the tech to go electric at the time! So cleaned it up and flipped it! Have an extended Emaxx under a F150 FG shell now not as heavy duty but a lot of fun! The proportions are that it in pictures you can't tell its a 6th scale looks just like an ordinary Emaxx!

When I bougt my 1:6 reely dune fighter, wich is going to run soon... hopefully , I looked at buying one , because they were cheap , like 150€ but then I saw the dune fighter and had to have it . Nice vid .
If you want maximum battery life, don´t discharge a Lipo cell below 3,5V in your model. With the expensive ones (90 bucks for a Roaring Top 4s 4,4Ah) I set Lipo alarm beeper at 3,7V per cell for a non bloated pack. For a massively bloated (and already abused) one I use 3,3V.
2,7V is serious abuse of a Lipo battery. Some blue china ones (from WLtoys 144001) can take discharge down to 3,2V per cell. But that is already the exception to the rule.

Im thinking of a fg marder 30th year anniversary gasser in my collection. Nice goal to have in 2023. Also a nice challenge to wrench and maintain. Since all my cars electric. Want to experience the sound and smell of a big gas rc!

Love it! So good to see an FG Beetle online again. I've got two FG Beetles. One started off as the FG Monster Beetle (26cc, 2WD). Though after a few years I bought the 4WD belt conversion kit for it from Germany, and using slightly wider than stock FG Marder wheels and spike tyres. I had the engine ported, fitted a larger Walbro carb, and a JetPro exhaust (looks like something you'd see on a 2-stroke Motocross bike!) - the thing is nuts... Doing the conversion it left over soooo many spares, and coupled with the spares that I'd amassed over the years I only needed a few bits to complete a build of another Beetle, so I did. The only thing it doesn't have over the stock FG Beetle, is the bath tub (inner arch basin type thingy). They're both getting on now, yet still never fail to put a smile on my face. They're money-pits though, jeez the amount of upgrade parts they've had over the years, ali this, carbon that..

love this vid and cars but hate the "e"word conversions I run 2 stroke or nitro only even in my rc planes I build kits or from scratch and nitro or gas only wish it was still all that way e words have ruined the experience of the whole thing

I actually have this old beetle original with gas engine. Its like new,because i love it and take good care of it. Will never sell it!
