Thank you M-B. These events are sensory overlaod. This year I set up my 2 boys to race and combined we had 6 classes each day to race in. To say I had my hands full was an understatement. Lord knows how I managed to film anything at all but it was well worth the effort

Not golden era peaks of course but definitely still really thriving! rere cars from tamiya, Kyosho, Schumacher etc have helped a lot to fuel the fire and to think l was so sceptical about rere kits to start with lol! But nothing but a good thing for sure without a doubt! Clubs on the net have helped massively over the years too and now UA-cam to build on this even more and may it long continue! Amazing to think the kids with say a TD4 or TD2 will probably be doing as we are in 30/40 years time! Tamiya and co need to keep making new designs cars now though for the next 40 plus group of old farts to hunt out in the future haha! Don't ya just love this hobby!! Cheers James.
What memories. I used to club race at a place in Phoenix AZ called SRS in the 90's 2 - 3 times a week. One day some guy and his wife and kid showed up in a old camper truck and started racing with us. The dad wasn't that good but he was cool as hell. The kid turned out to be Ryan Mayfield.

Yes Castle Hill is around 1/2 an hour from St Ives where the 89 Ifmar was run. Not the same as it once was at least Casso is still all dirt. Its an awesome facility

Love this so many great cars, I especially loved those miniature polish bottles on the Avante - so fitting for the ultimate shelf king! (see what I did there).
Very nice, I had/have a manta ray, dyna storm, rc10, b2, losi xx4, Schumacher cat 2000, rc10 b4, rc8, rc8t electric. Tamiya desert gator, super hornet. Corally Kronos. I like rc cars all my live. Also I have a gold rc10 which is modified to race.
There was a NOVICE class as per the title. This was the sole exception made as it was for first timers and there was no limit to vehicle type/age or even motor raced. It's just an introduction class mainly made up of children.
awesome stuff Jason. Great filming and editing too. Highlights for me, the XX and XX4 at 5:50 both look incredible. But, the real star of the show, is the vast variety of cars ! that there are so many different cars there speaks to the fact that it's mostly about just having a fun time !
Thanks Stu! Yes mate you're right. Scotts Losi XX & XX4 cars were awesome. There were more cars there the same but I had my camera malfunction and I lost some footage. Still it was an awesome event loaded with every kind of car and driver. Thank you on your compliments in regards to my efforts with video and editing. Sydney has 3 tracks however Casso is the home of vintage racing. Ive watched your videos. Do you race or just rag your cars out on the road or out in the park?

Wow, what a joy to see all of those cars in your collections. Do most of you commit to one transmitter such as a Futaba and just install the same receivers in each of your cars? I would think that would eliminate having to carry around the stock transmitters. Or am I incorrect? Thanks for sharing, guys.

Thank you Michael. The Saturday really wore me out. Ive been dealing with busted ribs for 5 weeks now so sleep has been minimal. It was still so worth the effort. The boys are a bit competitive with one another and I have promised them for years I would get them racing so that weekend was their time to have a go. I was proud of how well they were performing on track by the end and it showed in some of the video. I appreciate your offer and there will always be more meetings.

Thanks James. Yes he did ok when he filmed that particular class but I had to edit about 99% of it out just to catch a little watchable footage. I made this event more about them if anything. They had such a great time

I dare say you aren't aware of the full depth and breadth of the vintage r/c world. Many of us at these events were racing as early as the mid 1980's and this Fox is sporting a very popular 3rd party 'EAGLE' body from back in the day. Not everyone wants box art or box correct. Racing can be about your own individuality. Rarely would any racer back in our day rock up with 'box art'. It was about your own team colours and designs
Hello Marcus. The Kyosho Ultima pictured in the thumbnail belongs to Rob in Victoria who made the trip up to Sydney to compete in the event. Sporting a period 3rd party lexan body which still incorporates the original cage. Not to be confused with a rerelease, this car is 1980's goodness through and through.
@@Bormac073 thx for your response! I was indeed confused, because the shape of the body reminded me of a kyosho pro x and the cage and chassis of the ultima 😅
Hi Brad. The Hot Shot class allows any car made that utilises the Hot Shot gearbox design such as HotShot2,SuperShot,Boomerang,BigWig,SuperSabre etc.. Essentially by design a fun 'SPEC' class which has grown very successful amongst racers at our events. My advice to you is don't take everything so literal my friend.
The surface of the track ruined it. Find a plot, dig it up, and let them run. That's how they did it back then. It used to take a range of skills to drive tracks. Now it's all about reflexes. BORING.
Booooo. 😆😆😆 I dont know where you've been my friend but when comparing the Castle Hill track to most others any where on the globe, this track is about as much 'off road' as you'll find. Still true to the style of tracks we raced on here back in the 80's, at least it's not Carpet or Astro or these other super modern moto cross style/bmx tracks that are around now. Rather than knock it, how about you just come drive it or come be a part of these great events. After all, anyone can recline on their couch with a tv remote and offer criticism. Come be a part of the fun and then offer me your opinion then.

My sons each raced their Monster Beetles but they were a handful. Fitted with the MIP ball diffs they work well

Different classes. Some classes run silver can 540, some stock and other brushless of varying winds

Hello Marcus. The Kyosho Ultima pictured in the thumbnail belongs to Rob in Victoria who made the trip up to Sydney to compete in the event. Sporting a period 3rd party lexan body which still incorporates the original cage. Not to be confused with a rerelease, this car is 1980's goodness through and through.

Why would you call it the hot shot glass but not all of the cars are Hot shots?
Hi Brad. The Hot Shot class allows any car made that utilises the Hot Shot gearbox design such as HotShot2,SuperShot,Boomerang,BigWig,SuperSabre etc.. Essentially by design a fun 'SPEC' class which has grown very successful amongst racers at our events. My advice to you is don't take everything so literal my friend.

The surface of the track ruined it. Find a plot, dig it up, and let them run. That's how they did it back then. It used to take a range of skills to drive tracks. Now it's all about reflexes. BORING.

I dont know where you've been my friend but when comparing the Castle Hill track to most others any where on the globe, this track is about as much 'off road' as you'll find. Still true to the style of tracks we raced on here back in the 80's, at least it's not Carpet or Astro or these other super modern moto cross style/bmx tracks that are around now.
Rather than knock it, how about you just come drive it or come be a part of these great events.
After all, anyone can recline on their couch with a tv remote and offer criticism. Come be a part of the fun and then offer me your opinion then.
