GM Pelletier, as far as I'm concerned, you are always welcome on PowerPlayChess. Thank you for your analysis of this critical game - and congrats to Fabi for winning Wijk at last!
Always enjoy your commentary Yannick, and look forward to more. A rest day for Daniel is certainly not a rest day for PowerPlayChess. I've relied completely on this channel for its coverage of Tata Steel and its been a joy to follow. We're lucky to have it as chess fans. A super impressive showing from Fabi, which as an American (and supporter, naturally) and a Magnus fan (aren't we all) was a win-win. After all, who doesn't love great competition. Thank you for your hard work. Like.
Éric Guimarães Maybe he did.blunder (it isn’t clear he had significant improvements), but Fabi did a great job of keeping him under pressure. These GMs don’t make mistakes when they aren’t under duress; we should applaud Fabi for continuing to squeeze, rather than deride Duda for cracking.
Very nice analysis. Nice find by Fabi of 18 a3!, putting the question to the pawn. But then just a few moves later he missed the apparently strongest 20 Bd2! Always fascinating to ponder why this happens. He saw the retreat 20 Be3 but not Bd2 with idea of b4. Anyway he kept up the pressure and still won.
Thanks for your nice comment. As for 20.Be3 instead of Bd2... Top players often choose good looking moves automatically, which sometimes lead to them missing even stronger continuations

There is a rumor Fabi's opponents suffer from Carlsen exhaustion, but imho Fabis games are extremely complex, deep and beautiful. The 2020 version of Fabi is the most powerful so far and i think he would have won them no matter whom they played the day before.
Never seen Qb3, then a quick Ne5 before in the Catalan. Great game by Fabiano. Caruana: 10/13, Rating rising from 2822 to 2841. Caruana or Ding have a great chance of winning the candidates.
I saw this also immediately because I looked for a way to cover f7, but I don't think it's winning because after exchanging on e5 there is a check on the back rank and then probably a knigth fork on f5 which may win the exchange for white.

GM Pelletier, thank you for the easy to understand analysis.
Thanks for the analysis Yannick, a worthy stand in for Daniel.

Thank you GM Pelletier, you make the perfect duo with GM King. This channel is by far (!) my favorite chess commentary.
Yannick! I love your analysis. very nice
Thanks. A game like this leaves ordinary chess fans wanting all the help we can get to understand it.
Nice analysis! Thanks for the video and for subbing for Mr. King!
He's BAAAAACK!!! :)
Come back anytime. Perhaps you and Daniel could do a team broadcast.
I'm very happy for Fabi. About the game, Duda blundered at the end.

@@tkokesh sure mate. I was watching live. Duda got clearly disappointed at the end. Fabi is fabulous. It was well deserved.
he made various mistakes that led that piece loss in the end, he was losing even before that
I agree mate. If you see the video, he went uncomfortable when Fabi played Bc5. Then he saw he was lost. That's what I meant by blunder.

He has played the best chess by a mile.
FAbi goes for complexity, just like Tal did but Fabi doesn't capitalize in the same way as Tal.
What is Carlsen exhaustion?
Thank you Yannick, you were very good! Almost as good as Caruana.

Good video. Interesting to have a different view sometimes.
Merci
Am I the only one that sees e5 here, which I believe is winning for black? 16:36.

If e5 then Rc8+ followed by Nf5+ wins
Yes, you guys are correct. I missed that combo. Oops. I guess Duda was already lost at that point then.
Caruana would play Rc8+ and Nf5+ forking the Rook at d4.
@@MostlyBrenda Yep. I missed that line. Nice catch, everyone.
