    The 2020 Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 11-26 January. World Champion Magnus Carlsen again heads the field, which includes Top 10 stars Caruana, Giri and So as well as 5-time World Champion Anand. A lot of the focus will be on young stars - Duda, Artemiev, Xiong and above all 16-year-old Alireza Firouzja, who makes his super-tournament debut. As well as the traditional venue in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands, one round will be played in the PSV football stadium in Eindhoven (16 January).
    The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. If there is a tie for first place the top two after tiebreaks then play a 2-game blitz (5+3) playoff and, if still tied, an Armageddon game. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. The Bd3 line that you explained in this match . There is a mistake , actually the Rxb7 continues with Qxb7 not the took so that rook defends the e6 pawn ..... Correct me if I was wrong 😄

    What makes this better is that you call it a pawn once again after a few seconds

    too bad for the rushed move from duda before time control.. time pressure takes away from the accuracy in a game, but of course it's needed.

    At 18 min why not Duda, black pawn to E5??
    If Fabi takes, bishop take E5 attack knight and rook, knight will be lost eventually. If Fabi does not take checkmate is forced.

    I know it’s extra work, but if you could put up time left for each player in a small font beside their name or something, it would give another dimension for us to think about in the players’s moves. Maybe just do it for classical games?

    17:19 why not simply capture the bishop with the knight? it also comes with a discovered check...

    • @LyricsOfALifetime
      @LyricsOfALifetime 4 роки тому

      Excellent question! I'm not using an engine, so I'm not sure, but in my humble (and limited) opinion, it's because after Rook to A7, you're threatening both the bishop on B7 AND the pawn on F7, and there's no way to save both. You COULD capture the bishop with the knight right away with a discovered check, but as they say, sometimes the threat is greater than the execution. By capturing the bishop, you no longer have the Rook captures on F7 threat, and the knight would be slightly misplaced on B7.

    Rook to b3 is not advisable as you lose an exchange. You either lose a bishop or you lose a bishop and a rook and capture a rook. Either way you end up losing material

  • @wayneonhealth3130

    after 20. bd2 line black's rb3 would leave the bishop hanging as the knight has to protect both bishop and rook. position at around 4min 51 sec
