    I just want to say, as a legally blind woodworker, this is an amazing innovation. I can't rely on my eyes to detect minor gaps when using straight edges. This makes it so i can use tactile cues instead. Thank you for this.

      $130 is quite expensive for a tool that will sit in a drawer for 99.9% of its life and has very limited use cases.

    brilliant Idea!! I'm in the process of making a 6' sled with a aluminum back fence. I want to make accurate corners for steamer chest. What I've come up with is using all thread on each end. One side achord the other floating until I get the back exactly perpendicular to the saw blade then I will anchor the back fence to the base of the sled. I can make slight adjustments to the nuts on the all thread to dial the back fence to the saw blade. This is the second one. the first sled was a test to make sure it stayed square.

    This looks really great and not super expensive, have 2 questions: 1: what size do you recommend for the base, can it be 26" x 32"? 1/2" or 3/4" plywood? 2: Will the sled runners wear out over time so that they do not fit tight?

    • @katzmosestools
      @katzmosestools  8 місяців тому

      You can use any size you want for the base. I like 1/2” because it gives you a little extra blade height. The runners will last a long time. If they ever get loose add a strip of blue tape to snug them up. Probably much longer than the zero clearance of your kerf

    I built my sled using UJK Parf guide dog holes. So I know it's super accurate (and so easy to mate the fence) But that tracksaw use case is very very intriguing. When you're breaking down, sheet goods, sometimes you can't use the square rail. Being able to square your cut in the middle of the sheet is genius! And I think you're one or two step/design away from being able to line up the track for straight cuts. @2:25 instead of a square cut, if you could but the track against the red/body part, you can guarantee the continuation cut of the tracksaw is straight.

    As someone who is fairly new to woodworking, I'm still learning a lot of techniques but a sleed would greatly improve my stills. The one thing I don't want to worry about is weather or not my jig is cutting straight. As soon as I get some extra money, I'll be purchasing!

    You're da man! Excellent tool to make building a crosscut sled easier and more accurate. Plus another awesome JKM video explaining how to use the tool and make a crosscut sled. I was so impressed, that I too bought the kit. Keep up the great work!

    Kumiko sleds would benefit hugely from this. You have to make so many specific sleds and your jig square would save HOURS of time and frustration. Also, excellent way of spacing the runners together in the slot.

    Just ordered the kit. It says backordered, so I'm hoping it doesn't take too long. Can't wait to try it.

    Purchased materials for a sled years ago and have been intimidated to try one. Bought this kit to make life easier.
    Any idea when you expect these to ship? Ordered a month ago but haven’t received any updates.
    Love your passion and appreciate you.

    Purchased when I saw it in my email before I even watched the video. I’m one of those who has put off making a cross-cut sled for the very reason of the five cut method. Been using my Incra 5000 (which is great, don’t get me wrong), but there a times when a cross-cut sled would come in clutch. Thanks, JKM!
