My coolest delay for something like this was interesting from a passenger perspective. We were flying into Tampa into some severe thunder storms. Had moderate turbulence on final but the pilot did a great job getting the plane down safely and stopped. The pilot informed us due to lightning in the area we were being held in place on the tarmac, and you could see all other planes stopped. We were told every time lightning strikes within a certain radius of the airport we had to stop and wait 5 minutes, if after 5 minutes no more strikes happened in that radius we could continue taxi, but if another lighting strike happened we reset the 5 minute timer. We get rolling and lighting strikes and we stop again one or two times and while stopped the 3rd time I noticed 1plane still taxiing to the terminal/gates and Al other planes were stopped. That plane gets to the gate and a few minutes later us and all other planes got cleared to gates. We get off the aircraft and on the TVs in the terminal Casey Anthony had just landed at the same air port was being loaded into a motorcade out front. They were flying her in from wherever she was being held safely for her trial next day. So I think they stopped all the planes using lighting as an excuse to get her plane to the gate and have security get her from the plane to a car out front.

@@kayciestraub ok. I would hope so. And the actual answer to the question is: Yes, of course they could. Any aircraft could, how else would an aircraft get somewhere safely in the event of a radio failure? You don’t have to be AF1’s pilot. However, also consider that most, if not all pilots would also consider an airfield’s capability for handling the size of aircraft, as well as the normal traffic load that it handles. KLAS is very very busy, and I’m pretty sure AF1 would opt for Nellis AFB, a very large Air Force Base, also in Las Vegas, as the better option for landing. Non-military pilots might think differently, but it would also be safer for them to do the same, in such a large aircraft, as to avoid any other traffic.
Yeah the pilot still has rules and regulations he has to follow and no, the president can not give an unlawful order to disregard safeties that have been put in place to not only protect the aircrafts but the precious cargo that can be on said aircrafts. Was American 2249 being flown by Tom Cruise?
"Well, that was cool!"
my right ear enjoyed this
Air Force one broadcasting on that vintage 200 series radios
....with funny pilot commentary !!!!!! where ????
I suppose some people would consider an improperly announced, “Let me president go!” to be funny.
I suppose some others would not.
bowtiebonanza I also liked that, well that was cool at the end 😂😂😂
Why wouldnt AF1 go to Nellis AFB and prevent the delays?
Depends on POTUS destination- if POTUS is just going to, say, somewhere on the strip, Secret service wants the plane as close as possible to destination (which would be LAS). minimizes distance in motorcade.
Adjusting routine is how you keep people guessing.
somebody spelled president wrong in the thumbnail
OMG my fingers work too fast sometimes!! Embarrassing...
@@bowtiebonanza You're ahead of your time. ;-)
My right ear really enjoyed that
Do pilots and ATC talk with so much noise on the frequency?
Yes the AF1 Piolets are falowing protocol but if they wanted to could they just land without radioing to ATC?
Why would they want to?
That would be incredibly dangerous.
Besides, this was audio from it taking off, not landing.
@@ErraziBProductionS i know
@@kayciestraub ok.
When a pilot disregards policy they get reprimanded, to include improper chatter on the radio. Yeah these videos are funny and not a problem but you are not ever allowed to cuss over the radio wa es even without a fine lol
Loved this one. Some of the radio transmissions sound as clear as Biden reading a teleprompter!! XD
Watch dump read one and come back to me sparky
Biden derangement syndrome
You understand the words coming out of Trumps mouth, even if it can sound crazy at times (and is) but Biden is unintelligible quite often and also sounds crazy at times. Went from a red meme to a blue meme
@@chriskirk9708 trump just repeats himself and to worship any one man in government, is being a cultist
@@donchristie420 well he did do some good things. He also did bad things. Dont think i am worshipping him by any means. Pretty certain every pres does good an bad. Perspective is what forms your opinion and that is fine. Just try to read that i hit both sides. Not just one cause I cant stand either party. I have my own opinion i would rather not discuss about them.
You’d think that a 747 as expensive as Air Force One would have a better radio🇺🇸✈️
Its because the radio's are too powerful and very close to the tower
@@pigpower3r852 NO lmfao. Imagine reading a comment joking about back to the future and then running with it as fact. They do have powerful radios, but they're using standard issue equipment to talk to the control towers. What you're hearing is some dude in his house recording the radio frequencies at the airport, which is obstructed by building and other interference. AF1 is likely way on the other side of the airport in a more remote location, making the interference much worse. ATC and other aircraft would hear them perfectly as they all use the same system standards that make such communication possible.
Surprised Donnie didn't spray paint his name on the side of AF1.
Thank you you fantastic pilots for landing and even though it was a controlled crash you did it outstanding work I'm going to kneel kiss the ground and Bob back up Boeing
why not use Nellis AFB?
And inconvenience the president? LAS is right off the strip. Nellis is a little out of town and would have screwed up traffic to an amazing degree with ground transport.
I think secret service looks at how far the motorcade would have to travel , and LAS is way closer to the strip, quick car ride and back to the airport. It seems like for years LAS has been used for POTUS and Nellis hasn’t . They do park the second 747 at Nellis though.
@@djtexas4993 what about Marine One! No need for a motorcade at all. They can land on the lawn of The Trump Hotel.
@@cherifbar True, except there’s always a need for a motorcade. And Marine One is going to involve bringing those choppers along for the whole ride, being shipped inside another huge military aircraft. I believe he was only in Vegas for campaigning. They take the copters to international summits, Camp David, etc. it’s quite enough to just take the pair of Cadillac Ones/The Beasts!.
I was in Vegas after one of his visits eating at a restaurant he had been to. They told us he’d gone back to the kitchen and given every single member of staff a $100 tip, haha. Regardless of the other stuff I did always like the way he tipped people.
@@djtexas4993 I hope we see him in power once again in 2024.
You'd think AF1 would have better quality radios aboard, Jesus!
Was that Billy boy?
You'd think AF1 would have better comms equipment....sheeeesh
That pilot on the line with the ATC and AF1 cracked me up!
It's also nice to hear more female pilots! I knew there was a time our military had more female pilots than commercial.
Its because the radio's are too powerful and very close to the tower
Does the President fly economy or business class?
Air Force 1 needs a new VHF radio.
Its because the radio's are too powerful and very close to the tower
Slack jawwed talk on the radio... then anything with AF1 is super tight... funny
