Housed in Herndon, VA, the National Capital Regional Coordination Center [NCRCC] is an interagency group that monitors D.C.'s prohibited airspace 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Washington, DC, area is the only area of the country with such a center. The Department of Defense, FAA, the Secret Service, Customs, and Border Protection and the U.S. Capitol Police, along with the TSA, which acts as the executive agency, are represented at NCRCC full-time. During major events or search operations, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the U.S. Park Police, the Coast Guard and local law enforcement, including D.C. Police, are also NCRCC participants. Each agency or department at NCRCC is responsible for its own mission and jurisdiction as it relates to airspace security. However, the participants work together in identifying airspace that are violated or may violate prohibited airspace. While the response to each possible aircraft violation is decided by each government entity independently of the others, the information is immediately shared by all participants at the NCRCC.
They should have alternative methods in place because a helicopter isn’t going to be available 100% of the time in the locations needed. Traffic cameras, small quadcopter drones, etc
Reminder: The District of Columbia was created by Congress to explicitly be just the administrative center for the nation. Every building in D.C. is supposed to be just a government workplace of one sort or another. There isnt supposed to be homes or businesses inside D.C. Business and homes are supposed to be in Virginia or Maryland proper.

Turns out the FRZ clearence didn't even rise to the level of a public trust.
Housed in Herndon, VA, the National Capital Regional Coordination Center [NCRCC] is an interagency group that monitors D.C.'s prohibited airspace 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. While the response to each possible aircraft violation is decided by each government entity independently of the others, the information is immediately
shared by all participants at the NCRCC.
Keep up the high quality content! Very informative, never knew DC airspace was this complicated
That must be so frustrating - who knows what kind of suspect they had eyes on just to be called off because of a one-in-a-thousand Marine One transit

They should have alternative methods in place because a helicopter isn’t going to be available 100% of the time in the locations needed. Traffic cameras, small quadcopter drones, etc
Next time Guardian 4 goes up, they should use callsign FJB1 😂

I was at HMX in the late 70’s … we always got priority!
That was much more interesting than I have thought when i clicked ;-)
Awesome animation and narration 👍
Reminder: The District of Columbia was created by Congress to explicitly be just the administrative center for the nation. Every building in D.C. is supposed to be just a government workplace of one sort or another. There isnt supposed to be homes or businesses inside D.C. Business and homes are supposed to be in Virginia or Maryland proper.
Congress did not intend for Presidents to have immunity from criminal prosecution either and certainly that is not in the constitution 😒
I worked in public safety in the dmv for many years . This is nothing new and has been like this for many years. Quite the norm

The issue is pilot asked for a 035 heading for about 6 miles and the controller said "approved as requested". I'm not even too sure what happened or how that info was misunderstood.
Cop heli wasn't wven that close
Absolutely ridiculous. Marine One is able to safely ferry the President within hostile territory there should have been ZERO reason for them to order the Police helicopter out of the area.

So funny when people call it Wilmington Airport. There is no such thing. It's New Castle Municipal Airport, Wilmington doesn't have one.
Western Loudoun County needs the FAA to take control of all helicopters flying in zone 6. Some fly with very little lighting, some fly well below 1000 feet, I'm at 654' of elevation just east of the Blue Ridge. I can see a heli pilots feet, even eye glasses when I run outside to see what's going to hit my house. One day there will be a chopper down near my house due to negligence of a pilot or FAA. It's nearly impossible to report as well.
Why is the Huntington Beach, Ca police helicopter in the picture? This didn’t happen in California. 🤔🤔
Great job... I've never flown in or around DC in anything but commercial... That is an airspace I'm happy not to fly inside of.. Didn't know about the zones.. Still very interesting.. Thanks!
The fact is that Guardian is actually Prince George's County Maryland Police Department helo ... not DC.
Happens all the time with VIPs entering an area in the air or on the ground. Normal traffic and operations will be disrupted. That is the cost of the added security measures. Some VIPs avoid travel into certain areas at certain times to prevent becoming too much of a burden. But the VIPs do need to travel some and some disruptions are unavoidable.
Police pilot: "15 minutes and the criminal will get away"
Biden: "I dont work for you pal"
Which tracking app is this
In all honesty, even if they were pursuing a criminal, they would’ve released their criminal if they caught them.
While I understand the necessity of Marine One receiving priority routing, the Police Helicopter was on a time sensitive mission and should have been given priority. If the issue at hand was that the Police Helicopter was a threat to the President, then our country is screwed up.

@@A_A_J. Then YOU don't understand!

@@philtheheaterguy951so anyone in a helicopter, calling themselves: “Guardian 4”, should be allowed near POTUS? Or do you have some other way of identifying this helicopter from afar?
It’s simple, nobody comes close to Marine one or Airforce one.
How long would it take to shoot down a police helicopter if it proceeded to move in the direction of marine one while being unresponsive to atc commands?
Just a wild guess on my part, but in D.C., I'd suspect about 30 seconds if no one hesitated.
If it was Navy, never. PIO is always a big part in their decision making process. Air Force, immediate. I would hope more than likely they would take out the engine and force them to autorotate down.
I'm sorry, but West Virginia is in no way part of the DC Metro Area. It's called The DMV for a reason: DC, Maryland, and Virginia. WV is way to far away.
Growing up in LA, and with the large number of televised police chases from helicopters, it wasn't uncommon for the chase to turn toward the South Bay, and the news chopper getting held at a distance to avoid arrival traffic at LAX. In no time we would be watching the chase at the furthest end of the cameras zoom, all super compressed and weird looking lol

Guardian calls in: guardian 4, zone 2? Clearly showing the 520 in Zone 3… oops
I saw that too.
That would appear to have been a request, not a report. Guardian 4's later radio call of Zone 3 was _approved_ by the controller, not merely read back.
As if anything would happen to the robbery suspects.
As a pilot, you have standing protocol on how and what to do. If somebody on the ground orders you to violate that protocol you tell them…NO!
Yeah okay. Go ahead and get a pen and notepad out to copy a number.
Ahhhhh marine one is armed. I’ll stay out of their way.
Great video, I learned a bit there. Awesome visuals as always! 🤗
Why does ATC communication usually start with "and...."
It's an old crutch to prevent the beginning of a received transmission from being missed. By using a throwaway word like "and" or "uhh" to give the receiver something to break squelch before any actual info is transmitted. It also is an effective remedy for lesser trained radio ops who key up at the same time they start to talk. It's basically a courtesy.
Their robbery suspect was just to the southwest aboard Marine One. Not sure how they missed that.
Did the suspect get away?
Today on Lengthwise with Tim Skit: The president of the United States circles a suburb, and 10 kilometers away, a suspect gets away with his crime. How are these two events connected?
Hope the President was on time for another vacation
Yes, forget citizens, government officials don’t care if you’re trying to find a suspect and help citizens

Quick Rant: This is exactly why I got pulled out of that scene from 'Beloved' in Marvel's Secret invasion. (Take away being in an area of the Omniverse where there's a group consensus on Super Hero's.) There's no way random helicopters just fly in with that little of lead time.

Interesting in the absence of normal ATC protocols of announcing your callsign for each transmission. And amount of non-flight chatter.
Police typically have a separate channel to ATC because of the erratic nature of their flights

Yeah, it depends what that suspect was wanted for. If for violent crimes, things might get dramatic for those crossing his path.
As for the video, no big drama from our perspective, but probably protective services would disagree. The police helicopter request was approved then awkwardly disapproved. There might be some drama there behind the scene 😄
Dumb me, I don't see Guardian 4 anywhere near Marine 1 in your display; certainly not on a collision course.
Yes marine one when it's operational they don't care what you're doing, it's either do what you're told or you get brought out of the sky the hard way I'd say in about another minute guardian for may have experienced something he didn't want to happen. I know sometimes when the presidents want to play golf they'll call the country clubs and a lot of times they won't let them play because the country clubs don't want to close everything down and tell all the members you have to stay off the course, you would think they would be honored to have the president but most of the time they're not. I don't mean golf courses that are in Washington I'm talking about when the president's traveling and he goes to other states or cities, many times the local Country clubs won't let the president play.
