im an aspiring game dev and i can tell you that the ads are loading with 0 connectivity because mobile devs figured out people turn off connection so it downloads some ads ahead of time with the game. so youre correct, they are essentially baked into the game

It is really sad, I feel bad for them.
But it's also sad that the kid probably found out about the app from one of those "Talking to Ghost at 3 AM challenge (real)" videos, found it believable enough to download, and tried to talk to his deceased Great Grandpa.
Just seeing that in the reviews really kinda hurt my heart. There's a kid out there that misses his grandpa so much that he's downloading ghost apps to see if he can find him, wtf that's so fcking sad

most apps like these have fake reviews, but these reviews aren't fake and this was a real kid using this app. You can tell from the completely different tones and typos and dates and the fact that you can share your own story.
I just wanna say, I'm so proud of Danny and Laura for not posting their baby. It's a low bar, I know, but I'm very grateful that their tiny identity isn't on blast. Good on them.

So when I play Dark Souls to cope it's actually helping... well damn.
unfortunately its not rlly true, the tetris study hasnt been able to be replicated yet. they can help afterwards just by distracting the person lol but there hasnt been any concrete evidence beyond that

There's a form of trauma therapy call EMDR that involves eye movement and desensitization. It seems to really work and no one really knows why. I would put my money on this being the reason video games help (if they actually do). It is missing a desensitization aspect though.
The idea that the cure to PTSD is literally flashing multicoloured lights is unreasonably funny to me.
Like, cancer is horrible, but imagine if we just found out that to cure it all you had to do was drink a shot of olive oil or something equally mundane. Sure I mean it's good that we found it, but, like, fuckin' seriously? I don't know it just feels comedically underwhelming.
