this actually really helps i’m gonna try it on my next lesson thank you so much. planning is the only thing letting me down and stopping me passing the test
Hi sir,I watched your video one day before my test I was week in awareness and planning. I tried this method and I passed it helped a lot to recognize the hazards and make my next plan to deal with it and I passed with one minor. Thank you so much for this video.
This is something I've been struggling with ever since I've started learning how to drive. For a learner, I feel like I'm a talented driver. I can operate the vehicle very well, I know a lot about cornering theory (for example), special manoeuvres I can do in one go most of the time. But I actually failed my second driving exam this Monday because of this. The struggle is not knowing that I have to do this or that this is something that I need to pay attention to. It's that when something unexpected happens, autism/AD(H)D kicks in and awareness becomes a tertiary priority. Now this is definitely fixable, as is anything you struggle with while driving. I just don't really know how, other than just practice a lot.
I definitely have the same problem. Its hard to get out of your head and stay focused on the situation ahead of you. Its been 3 months have you passed the driving test?
@@tyronjade7171 my driving test is due on the 23rd, as it stands now I am improving but getting "too comfortable" behind the wheel so I tend to kind of zone out like I've been driving for 2 years already. That's not necessarily bad, quite logical actually as I have been driving a car for two years already. Now back to the dividing your attention and recouperating from a fault, I think it's all down to knowing what to look for so you can anticipate it earlier and not being afraid to check one more time just to be sure. If you make a mistake, breathe in and out and just drive like you normally would.
I've been driving sport cars for 18 years and I find your videos really valuable. Driving in the UK is different to driving anywhere else in the world, and I feel you've reached that mastery level which allows you to produce such useful videos. I've had 2 accident 2 months apart in 2 different cars and on both occasions I was not at fault. Sadly I've still had to go through all that trauma. I wish there was a way of anticipating when a randomer on the road is just going to sway into you out of the blue, or when a lorry decides to reverse blindly. Keep the videos coming please
Hi! I just wanted to thank you for this video, I watched it a few days before my driving test, I've taken like 100 hours of lessons and no one ever gave me such a practical advice, and today I've passed my test ..your advise about breaking the test by bits, focusing and talking to yourself, looking as far as you can and planning backwards made such a difference! Thanks Francis, your content has truly helped me!
I'm a PDI and watch your video all the time. Amazing video right to the point about each subject. I always send your awesome videos to my students as home work and they work a treat.
Taking my test in Ireland this week and watched loads of these videos recommended by instructor but found yours by accident and think it will really help me to do well in test thank you
Wow this video is AMAZING! Cudnt find all this info in just 1 video ever b4, been reaching n wasting my time go thru so many other ppl's video on UA-cam but this was everything in 1video and full on ideas n knowledge. A BIG thank u for this video full of knowledge and keep up the good work :)
Damn that bit about the field of view really hit home for me for some reason - Ive gotten much better at planning and anticipation but I still stutter when things get busy like in city centres, great way to explain why it's important and the benefits, thanks!
Amazing video. Fast pacing. Good timing. 👍. I’m in driving lessons these days before my test and these exactly the things I need to put attention to. Thank you so much. Blessings. 🙏
Really a good idea, keeping a good distance from the car in front really helps getting ready for any hazard, thanks a lot. That is exactly what I was looking for.
Hi @getdriving, this is the sole video which helped me to plan my drive in roundabouts and turnings and junctions, today i passed my swedish driving license practical test , only by following the stuff in this video
Thank you for sharing this video Francis. My instructor has told me that I need to work on my planning ahead and anticipation whilst I'm driving, this video has been very helpful!
4:18 - Having to stop talking as dealing with the developing hazards, the sign of a good driver! i.e. being able to manage and deal with distractions such as talking.
Thankyou for taking the time and effort to make this video. It was useful and opening to watch how you drive and comment what you're doing at the same time. I've taken the test now twice and my weak spots are: planning, anticipating and doing things early enough :D If you happen to have any tips for "home work" (practicing between driving lessons, elsewhere than in the car cause I dont have own car) then that would be nice and useful :) Have a nice day. - Katariina from Finland
Thank you so much for this, it’s so helpful, I’ve been driving for a bit, but planning ahead is an area i need to work on. This is so clear and helpful.
Thanks for your videos, It gave me many tips and techniques to pass my bus driving test. As I needed to work on mirrors, my forward planning and awareness. I did it. Many thanks 😂
Great vid, is always something in which my instructor tells me is anticipate ahead and use the mirrors. More do this, he say the more I feel alright and relaxed. 👍
I’ve used your videos so much! Thank you, they are so useful. Animations on the road really help too. So well put together and I’m really grateful! Xxx
Good morning Francis, would you mind if I show your video to my customers. I will give you a clear mention to look art other videos you have created if this helps?
Great videos! Really helpful! I have a problem with assessing spatial awareness on the road, such as how far I am away from left or right lanes. I think I spent too much time concerning these so my planning is not good.
Working my way through all the videos! Fantastic , I past my driving test long time ago but recently brought a car and on the road, it’s good to refresh myself with the rules and it’s helped so much I’m actually getting confident on the road 😊
When turning into a new road that has an obstruction (a parked car), would you tell your students to try to still always turn into your own lane first, then move out, or is it ok to directly turn into the other side of the road to show your early anticipation? What if there's a continuous white line in the center at the beginning of the road? Would this qualify as an exception because I want to avoid an obstruction ahead?
Thank you so much for your coaching, sir. Your the best. My teacher havent taught me anything about it only when im doing mistakes😡. I hope i my second training will go well by the help of this video❤. Thanks again❤!
Can you do a 📹 on on lane change 🤔, an backing out of a parking spot, where do you turn the steering wheel, after clearing the other cars beside you bumper
Thank you for another great video. Could you please upload/direct us to a video on staying within our lane. I’m having trouble after over a 100 hours private practice and professional lessons.😬 It’s more obvious on high speed situations (dual carriageway- especially when glancing at the mirror looking at merging traffic ).
Hey man, I just stumbled across this video / your channel as I'm already subbed to a few driving school channels but I always like finding anymore that I feel do a great job of helping to teach people. I'm an Intermediate driver at this point and this is one of the best videos I've come across with regards to anticipating and planning. Keep up the good work! :)
The video is very useful. After watching this video, I tried to look far ahead down the road, then I can plan much better. I would like to know when there is a cyclist in front of me, how should I overtake him. I always misjudged the gap I need to overtake the cyclist and missed the chance. Is there any video on overtaking a cyclist? Thanks a lot.
Amazing video just had lesson instructor said driving is good it's just my observation is poor another issue I have is I tend to go on auto milot mode especially when going on a straight road I need help with that
@@GetDriving hi I have to say you are my favourite instructor on UA-cam me and my friend r. hello, I have my first test coming soon. My instructor tells me to plan ahead better. Can you please give me some tips. How to look far enough forward to anticipate and how still see things that are near me - lane lines, signs hazards.etc. are there any front view scanning tips n tricks? Thank you, Ela
For example you are driving at 50KMPH and approaching a roundabout or a crossing, you see there are some cars in the roundabout, within how many metres do you slow down so that you wouldnt have to stop at the entry to roundabout ?
Hi just came across your video it's really gd, iv gt my check test nxt week and I. Very nervous, I was planning on doing awareness and planning, but a trainer has suggested to do junctions speed on approach, any tips or suggestions im really confusedat the moment
i am having two, things, one is, other cars, tend to jump in front, of you, just to getaway? and 2nd thing, when a car, wants to reseve, and park, doesn't look, and they things, the roads is theres,
this actually really helps i’m gonna try it on my next lesson thank you so much. planning is the only thing letting me down and stopping me passing the test

Hello everyone, it is to my pleasure to announce that I passed my exam with only two minors. Couldn't be happier.

Even when looking ahead I’m still bad at my decision making and judging does that just come with experience?
100%, the more you drive the better and more confident you get in your own decision making! Keep it up Michael.
