I had my first lesson last week and having my next in 2 days, on my first lesson I drove off, changed gears and turned at t junctions (around a industrial estate) both left and right and only stalled once! using your videos is helping I think ^_^
Hi Francis , even tho I'm a fully qualified driving instructor ,and have been for a good many years , it's good to watch your tutorials, just to keep me sharp. Thank-you Steve ParallelDS
Also, to add to what you said about reference point, we also need to pay attention to our seating position. If you're sitting closer, or further away than how you normally do, then the reference point would be different. If you found a reference point that works for your car, be consistent with your seating position.
Thank you for this video, it was exactly the same as my instructors teaching. Loved your explanation of the dashboard light sensor lining up with the kerb as the arrow demonstrated it better for me, than my first lesson behind the wheel and driving. Will use this again!
I had my first lesson yesterday . And my instructor taughte me they way u taught. And your videos are helpful to me. I will b looking forward to Ur more videos to learn . Thx dear ❤️
This is really good for refreshing things and going over it so I don’t forget and know where I’m going wrong and where to improve to do it better next time!
When you pull up and stop it's handbrake first and then neutral. You always secure the vehicle first. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Handbrake, neutral, cancel signal (if one was applied).
The difference with my instructor is that he said to take off handbrake and apply footbrake. Your method seems safer and simpler. Would you recommend changing instructors? It makes it harder to trust my instructor now.
Thanks so much for this- I have a student who keeps hitting the pavement even though we have established a ref point - any ideas on how else I can get her pull over next the the kerb instead of on it ?
Just subscribed your channel. I like your comments when you drive. My instructor asks me to do the same, so i have learned from your clear and straightforward steps: clutch down, gear 1, biting point, (gas), check around, handbrake down, go....
I have just noticed your channel and watched some of your vids, they're really good, very informative and useful. You keep them interesting, it would be great to have foot cameras, but it's not a problem :) you talk really fast, its hard to keep up. But I do love your energy and enthusiasm. Thanks for the videos :)
Very good vid, I'm training for ADI, Got Trainee licence but after lockdown good to go over some vids, been over many but most do not show in detail like your vid, Eg, Indicator when pulling off before the handbrake, Most are on clear roads so do not use it, always thought indicator was the last thing so been trying to find a vid like yours. My ref when pulling in was wipers, but after pissing down the other day made me realize not so good ha..
Hi. I’ve started my driving lessons (I’m on lesson 2 now) ... I’m struggling to move off without stalling and stopping without stalling. You suggest adding gas while moving off but my instructor has said to just use the clutch to move off. Currently struggling to move off quicker and not stalling any advice?
In most cases you actually will need to feather between the clutch and the gas. As your foot starts lifting off the clutch, you will slowly want to start pushing on the gas pedal. If you don't do this, your car will stall because you are not letting any gasoline flow in order for the engine to get into first gear. Here's a really good link for the topic; www.idrivesafely.com/driving-resources/how-to/stick-shift/
Good narrative, but sure you indicated twice at the beginning clutch, handbrake to secure the vehicle. Your last demo u reversed it to handbrake neutral. I'm just learning at the moment and got head in the books. Good lesson though.
At the time of pulling out after putting the signal on if I see any car coming from behind will I put the signal off and put it on again after or I can keep it on?
Your videos are very helpful but you put neutral before hand break when you stop is that correct or shud be hand break first then neutral when u stop ?!
If I have come to a stop on a flat road and haven't used the handbrake how do I move off again do I set the gas then find the bite or do I find the bite while on the brake
Hey! Good question. You'll find the biting point by lifting the clutch about half way. You press the gas as well to give the car a bit more power to pull away smoothly (especially important if you're in a petrol car)
You want your foot off the brake, and gently press down on the accelerator (gas pedal), as you're gently taking your foot off the clutch - it's a feathering motion between the two
So handy to have this between lessons! Just to reinforce the things I've learnt. Thank you
You're very welcome!
Wow

you sound so enthusiastic! wish my instructor has half of your enthusiasm...
As long as you're learning :)

you should have far far more subs... the way you explain things in great detail but in a way that you can take in and remember is amazing.
We appreciate that! 🙌
Wish you were my instructor 😔 really great teacher
Wow, thanks😀
@@GetDriving I want too book my lesson with you I live in Nw6 2jt
This has really helped me recap everything before my lessons so I feel more confident driving… thank you
Needed this for my start / stop lesson plan for my ADI training.
Respect bro.
This is great, I always freeze at pulling off first time. Appreciate the explanation of the clutch!
So useful.. can really tell he loves his job 😊
Definitely!😀
Get Driving what happened to the vids?
Thanks so much, I really need this...very clear .

I like that dashboard idea in middle of the video 👌
If you keep it in all videos wow

Wonderful! Glad to hear that they're helping. 🙌
very clear in explaining things and the graphics helped a lot especially when explaining the clutch, thank you
Glad you liked it!
It would be really useful to have a camera to actually see the pedals and movements!
Fair point! We'll look into it

I'm glad I came across this video ... It was my first day today but I know I will make it nd come here again
Thank you so much for your effective lessons.
I really like your lessons.It"s really helpful.Thanks a lot.
You explain in depth and in easy words. Appreciated.
You explain so well
So informative and easy to follow. Thanks so much!

wow you explained the working of clutch in such a nice way! thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi thank you for your amazing Vedic and explanation ,and can you please show us when you move your feet from the clutch when you start moving
The difference with my instructor is that he said to take off handbrake and apply footbrake. Your method seems safer and simpler. Would you recommend changing instructors? It makes it harder to trust my instructor now.
Omg such a good explanation of the clutch plates thank you
This is really helpful, many thanks.
I've been using a great clutch/gear demonstration app if you're interested.
Go for it! Which?

Great explanation and made easy through nice and understanding techniques 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much Francis! So handy to see the routine in action between my lessons.
Thank you for the clear information brother.
🙌 Glad it helped!
Much appreciated ❤great lesson
After stopping shouldn't you raise the handbrake first then put it into neutral? That's what my instructor has stressed to me as the 'correct' order.
You suggest adding gas while moving off but my instructor has said to just use the clutch to move off. Currently struggling to move off quicker and not stalling any advice?
I’ve got the same problem , my instructor says don’t apply any gas while you’ve got your foot on the clutch. I’ve stalled multiple times .
In most cases you actually will need to feather between the clutch and the gas. As your foot starts lifting off the clutch, you will slowly want to start pushing on the gas pedal. @@GetDriving baffles me why instructors do not teach gas before bite.
Well done explained 👏 👍

I saw you on the Scarlett Moffat driving school show
Great Videos so helpful
At the time of pulling out after putting the signal on if I see any car coming from behind will I put the signal off and put it on again after or I can keep it on?
if you have your clutch on the bitting point do you need to hold the brakes or can you just put the hand brake down and it will move of by it self ?
Done in my first lesson 3 days ago but feel like I’ll forget by next week
Your videos are very helpful but you put neutral before hand break when you stop is that correct or shud be hand break first then neutral when u stop ?!
Love your videos thank you
I am having problems stopping to soon and leaving to much of a gab between me and car in front when stopping at lights can you help?
Really struggling with the clutch cos I keep dangling my foot in the air I feel like I don't have control.
You'll get there! Don't stress it. If you have watched any of Kierans Driving Lessons on our channel, he was struggling with the same thing.
thanks dude
Bro, Do we need to indicate when we stop to give way to some oncoming car? And when moving off again should we indicate?
Very clear and I love it but it will be better if you use camera to see what your legs are doing. Nice one anyway
My instructor told me today that u don’t need to give indicator when u pulling away is that correct?
If I have come to a stop on a flat road and haven't used the handbrake how do I move off again do I set the gas then find the bite or do I find the bite while on the brake
Thanks.
4:21 Why did you signal if the ‘coast is clear’?
4:49 would you still signal if there is no car behind you? would this be unnecessary?
pz make a video about not stalling
The biting point is a pain, why arent cars easier by now lol
Is it gas then clutch or clutch to biting point and give it gas because in the video you said to do the clutch first then you said gas
It’s more easier and the preferred method to do gas then clutch
Great
The onscreen display is blocking the référence point in the video
You are amazing!
So do you press the clutch & gas at the same time to get the biting point
Hey! Good question. You'll find the biting point by lifting the clutch about half way. You press the gas as well to give the car a bit more power to pull away smoothly (especially important if you're in a petrol car)
Thank you I’ll try this in my next lesson!✨
How come I do not need to rev the gas before moving off in my instructor car ? Only uze clutch and biting point
This is quite common in diesel cars
I’m moving back from auto to manual, is the routine the same from learning in auto
No you gotta get used to changin gears
Gas or clutch first?
You want your foot off the brake, and gently press down on the accelerator (gas pedal), as you're gently taking your foot off the clutch - it's a feathering motion between the two
You seem like a cool PE teacher?
And put to the key
i having steering problems
i am currently training to be an adi . finding your videos very helpfull
Happy they're helping! Good luck👍
Some instructors say not to sing along when pulling out coz it can make other Road users slow down
It's definitely a safety thing - Follow what your instructor is teaching you, but it's a good thing to practice.
