I passed yesterday, and throughout the whole test, I kept on thinking about this video and vocalising spaces I was seeing during meeting situations. Thank you so much for the help!!
Super super helpful! Driving doesn't come very naturally to me and I feel much more confident about putting my weaknesses to practice after watching your videos. Especially as I don't have a car to practice in and rely on only a lesson every 1 or 2 weeks. Thank you! :)
Such a variety of real life situations encaptured in one video and all so clearly explained. Very helpful. Considerate of all traffic participants including the driver, giving good clues of how not to get stuck and keep the flow of traffic moving.
Great video! I had a driving lesson today where I had to deal with these sorts of roads/meeting situations for the first time. There was literally one space along one of these roads with a space on the right. It was extremely stressful anticipating meeting with an oncoming vehicle because there was nowhere for me to go to give way and I haven't done any reversing in this sort of situation either. This was my first mock test today as well. I got home after and my whole body felt like jelly. Thanks for this video.
This is so helpful, I really like the description on acceleration sense and highlighting passing places, I have walked down Abbeville Road a lot of the times and I can see how taxing it is to drive through as its very narrow with parked cars and gets really busy, particularly at home time as its close to Bonneville School! Thank you!
Hi 👋🏻 been learning to drive since February this year and recently been having trouble with when to hold back, meeting traffic etc. This video is super helpful and will keep rewatching it to help my learning 😁 x
Hi Francis, thank you so much for the content, this is much appreciated for us learners ! I was wondering if it is possible to have some videos/advices on automatic ? Thanks a lot !
This is the reason I haven't started yet although I have a car and license since last week. We have several of these kind of roads.we have only 1/2 width of the road shown at 3:29 for parked cars on one side and two way traffic
Really helpful revision. Only passed my test last week and am now driving and meeting lots of situations on my and it's really useful to check I'm doing the right thing (or not!).
Thanks for your videos, It gave me many tips and techniques to pass my bus driving test. As I needed to work on mirrors, my forward planning and awareness. I did it. Many thanks 😂
I always look forward to ur videos they explain every details very well wish I was leaving next door to u I will not mind paying for every free time u get to teach me xxx
At 4:58, you’ve waited on the zig zag lines, was that obstructing the traffic behind you coming from the left of you? I am wondering if I stopped like that on a test whether the examiner would think I’m a hazard to other road users 11:20 as well, you’ve waited at the junction opening , so wouldn’t the examiner feel I’m obstructing traffic trying to come out and perhaps go in the opposite direction? Having failed 3 tests so far, I question everything 😖
Hiya, very very useful thanks you. Planning &awarness and meeting situations is the main thing I’m getting judged on by my instructor atm otherwise I’m ready for my test, so yeah thanks you, will use your tips for sure👍🏽😊👍🏽
Good stuff. The steering technique you use at 10:29 I use the same too but my instructor thinks that I’ll be marked down for that with a driving fault. Any thoughts with that style of steering?
A have only found a few really good instructors on here...you are right there at the top. Thank you so much for the videos, I send them to my students when I see a gap in their learning. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this video. I completely struggle with this element and I started crying after my driving lesson because I did not understand what I was doing wrong and because I suffer with driving anxiety. This video was soo helpful. I wish you were my instructor :( Please could you be so kind and maybe do a video on how to tackle different kind of roundabouts? Thank you
Thank you for your videos, I watch your videos while learning . It is really HELPFUL, thank you! I wondered if you have any videos about contraflow system, please? I am really confused.
Thank you for the great video. Meeting traffic is one area my instructor wants me to work on, but we can’t predict if we’ll come across it in our next drive! Do you advise a right signal out after a hold back, at all?
I failed my test and got marked on road positioning. The tester said in the residential areas, I stayed out for too long. However, I didn't want to weave in and out when there's another obstruction ahead so of course I stayed out for the whole time. OK I changed my ways and try to stay in for as long as possible, and I failed another test again and got marked on anticipation. The tester said I should've anticipated and moved out earlier when I see a parked car. Fudge, whatever I do they pick faults.
Hello, thank you for this wonderful video on meeting. Very useful and well explained. I've been putting into practice what you teach. I have a slight off topic question. How do you get the speed, revs and gear Get Licensed animation? Is it based on data from your dashcam? How do you do it? It's so cool.
Hi Francis, that was a fantastic video and well explained. I had a question however surrounding meeting situations. At times when you are on the main road and have parked cars on your side with the opposite flow of traffic having none or a couple of cars, in what situations would you hold back and in what situations could you still go but slow down? This is all in mind of the fact that there are no passing places when parked cars are on your side predominantly.
Quick question one thing I struggle with is if there is enough room to get through sometimes as you'll all know it can be very touch and go, so I tend to slow down and sometimes even gently slow to a stop if it's couple of cars coming through. However once or twice cars behind me have given me a bad time! Even if the oncoming cars thank me haha 😅 it's a strange one as the car behind must of felt there was enough room to get through. Did I do anything wrong or was the car behind just being impatient? Meeting traffic situations is definitely the most scary for me since passing my test. I also hate side street parking between two cars haha 😆 any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍
Hey good question it depends on the situation. If you totally misjudged the huge gap and braked hard and confused the car behind then probably a fail. If the gap is really small where you'd have to squeeze thru and you waited that would be ideal.
3:46 aaarrghh why is my instructior asking me "what do we do here? Yes we signal so the other drivers know your intention " why does he say that if not necessary, I'm so confused 😐
I passed yesterday, and throughout the whole test, I kept on thinking about this video and vocalising spaces I was seeing during meeting situations. Thank you so much for the help!!

My lesson today was turn into roads and how to firmly break and stir the wheel this was perfect!

This is palming and could mean a mark down or a fail if you lose control by hitting a pot hole, you have to remember Francis is very experienced
Great video. Thanks.
Lovely stuff, you make driving looks easy and fun but in reality it is much more complicated lol
Very nice. Always show green marks more easily understand
Amazing video! What do you mean when you say half in half out for the hold back position?

Do you advise a right signal out after a hold back, at all?

How to use sign on motorways? Please make a video.....
I still don’t quite get why you stopped at 11:25 ..couldn’t you have just moved forwards? And the other cars just wait?
