    I loved the natural sounds of the wind and the waves and the boat. Hearing what you hear really adds a layer of realism.

    👍 A 29 minute video for a 29 day crossing ... there’s something very orderly and poetic about that.
    Well done, Oskar and Lisa! And, Lisa ... those cookies looked amazing ... and I bet they’re delicious.

    Lots of nice dolphins and whales to keep you company along the way.

Well, we thought that mostly our friends and family would watch this so we didn't think that was necessary before. 😊 But we've reconsidered that now.. 😊 We flew home for a wedding this august and in that episode we are going to tell you about this stuff and also showing a bit of our home. It's probably going to be in ep 30 (We are a little bit late with the movie production..). ☺️

    Fantastic “Pacific Crossing”
    Lisa och Oskar, god morgon. Jag heter Anselmo, jag är brasiliansk, från nordöstra Brasilien, från staden Aracaju, den brasilianska kusten. Jag bor också i Rio de Janeiro. Jag är ledsen, jag pratar fortfarande inte svenska, men jag lär mig. Jag lär mig engelska, jag börjar förstå. Din resa bidrar till min dröm. Jag studerar segling, jag tittar, jag är en seglare på fritiden och jag har en stor kärlek till naturen, jag gillar att träffa människor från andra ställen. Jag har funnit att segling är möjlig med planering, tålamod och percistens. I Rio de Janeiro har jag gjort många vänner och även i Paraty-RJ, den senare är platsen där det finns flera kända marinor, som Marina do Engenho, den stora brasilianske navigatören Amyr Klink, Marina Farol de Paraty, Marina 188, bland många andra. Jag hoppas en dag att träffa dem, här i Rio de Janeiro, eller kanske, för omvärlden. Allt det bästa för dig och stor kram! (Översatt av Google Translate)

    • @HilmaSailing
      @HilmaSailing  6 років тому +1

      Hej Anselmo! Vad roligt att du lär dig att prata svenska och engelska! Vi försöker bli bättre på Spanska. :) Ja, det är verkligen härligt att segla och kunna träffa andra människor, se andra miljöer och kulturer. Hoppas att du också seglar en dag, om det är det du vill. :)
      Ha det så bra! Kram Oskar och Lisa

    Your sail angle from Ecuador is the main reason for a rolling crossing. Kinda low as opposed leaving further north. Time is about right, took me 33 days on a Beneteau 393

    • @HilmaSailing
      @HilmaSailing  6 років тому

      Okay, that's good. We've talked to sailers who went north of Galapagos too and they had less wind and it took them longer to cross so maybe you have to chose by the rolling or the time then. ☺️

    • @Cptstokes
      @Cptstokes 6 років тому

      Well, I left from a much higher angle, the U.S. and the winds were good, cross swell low and between 5n and 5s was very squally. As in 3 to 7 squalls a day. A major pain in the butt. Plus I was heading to Huahine so a different course all together. Enjoyed your video and your time at sea. I'll have to watch some of your past videos. By the way, I am a delivery captain so, unlike you guys, I don't take the time to smell the roses so much, well maybe a little!!

      @HilmaSailing  6 років тому +1

      Thank you very much!
      Yes, 29 days is long.. We almost went to Ecuador after the "fishing-nets-incident" but we are glad we didn't. During the passage we complained some times, but we didn't show that infront of the camera ;) You can't tell from the video but it was rolling, so much! That was really enjoying and we didn't want to do much more that to sitt still because of that. But, when we came to the Marquesas (specially Fatu Hiva) it was so worth it! :)
      The Pacific is amazing and the people are so friendly almost everywhere. We hope everything is fine with you!
      Kind regards, Oskar and Lisa at Samoa

    29 days, how do you do it! I'm following some others sailers and always wonder if you see any UFO's and thinking surely you do. You're the first to even mention them. I'm sure those lights were space visitors and not Chinese boats. Stay safe always!

    • @HilmaSailing
      @HilmaSailing  5 років тому

      Haha, it actually gets easier and easier each day. If we sail for 3 days it's a bit boring but after 5-7 days you find it relaxing... Well, this is if the weather is ok, otherwise it can be a bit frustrating. 😜
      Haha, when you've been out there for a couple of weeks, everything is dark and you see so many lights it's easy to fantasize a bit ;) We will 😊

    can u see something as large as a whale on your instruments? are they attracted to a boat like dolphins. I hope the question is not a silly one. I do love your videos

    • @HilmaSailing
      @HilmaSailing  5 років тому +1

      It is not silly.. 😊
      We have to say no.. But... 😀 If it were completely flat water and if a whale were laying still, with some parts of it over the surface, then you might see it on the radar. Otherwise we just can "see" it on the sonar if it swims just below us. We usually have something under us and the depth quickly change and shows 2.5 meters (for instance).. It's probably just some small fish but you never know, it can be a whale too! 😊 Thank you, we are glad you like them!

    • @FTATF

      We use the hydro generator and the solar panels and that gives us more electricity than we need (when we sail). And to be honest, the wind generator doesn't work very well.

      First of all. We are 30 and 37 years so thank you for "kids". 😀 We worked really hard and saved all our money to be able to do this. We bought the boat in bad shape and worked with it every day (after work) for two yers before we left Sweden. We worked full-time until a few days before we sailed away, sold everything we got and now all we have is the boat and a budget for 3 years sailing. After that we will start from the beginning again. We hope this gives a bit perspective of our lives and also, we watch films on a computer.. 😌
