I am actually the person who did the label sheets, "Morinth" was my old handle on the Barbie Collector message boards. I have a Facebook group where I post a lot of other label sheets and things for other playsets, you should look it up and join, you'll probably find some useful resources there. I am so glad that people are using these labels to fix up these old sets, that's exactly what I was hoping would happen. I really enjoyed the process of restoring my Star Traveler, but my set did not have the hand mirror at the time I did the project, and because I didn't have the original instructions either, I didn't realize I had omitted one of the labels.
This is by far the most ambitious label project I ever did, and you wouldn't believe how much digital cleanup I had to do on the original label scans. I'd like to say that I had a pristine, unused label sheet to use as a scanning original, but no such luck. I had to carefully peel all the labels off a battered used Star Traveler, remove the residual adhesive with rubber cement thinner, then carefully flatiron the dry labels. I then put new adhesive on the labels and applied them to stiff cardstock so they would be nice and flat when they were scanned. The Photoshop work took the most time, and the exterior stripe graphics were completely redrawn in Illustrator. I had to adjust them quite a bit, the original labels don't quite follow the contours of the vehicle, and they are in so many segments that they just look messy. I made them continuous, which of course makes them harder to apply to the vehicle, but I figured it was worth it to have the nice clean lines. I also combined all the stripes and star graphics on the front of the van, originally they were three separate pieces, which made no sense to me. I also thought that the patchwork of tiny labels was going to drive me bananas when I went to apply the labels, so that's when I came up with the idea of compositing everything onto a yellow ground. I really wanted everything to be aligned properly, and there's no way that could happen with all those tiny labels.
This was a fun watch! When I restored my Star Traveler back in the day, I went ahead and cut those two glued pins, so I could deal with the front and the sides as separate pieces. I didn't even bother to reglue them, all the other screws are more than adequate for keeping it all together.

My little girl is into Barbie !! So I have become an eBay junkie !! And has brought back memories I haven’t remembered for some reason! Then the star traveler came up and I nearly fell out my chair, I was rushed with memoirs!! And engulfed with happiness of hours of fun as a child !!

I remember this my sister had one and I thought it was just made up but later on I found out that it was modeled after the GMC motor home that was produced from 1973-1978.

I've been wanting to restore one of these Barbie Star Travelers for years now, but I had no idea that you could get reproduction stickers to redo them, & I hope that someone has also done the same for The Barbie & The Rockers Tour Bus version too. You could kit-bash one of those-Bladerunner/StarWars style. Pimp it out. Even airbrush a scene on the side. Custom kit-bashed vehicles. Make a few bucks too.

I have one of these that I loved as a kid. We got it out of storage for my daughter. It’s not in bad condition. Needs new stickers and missing the dashboard screen, the deck and a couple of other little things.
2 questions.
1. How much did it cost you to get the decals printed?
2. Where did you find the spare parts ( eg draw?)
I have had a quick look I. eBay but no luck.

I had the printing done via BannerShop. They have a website where you can get a quote.
Keep an eye on ebay and gumtree for parts. They always pop up there. Sometimes in “barbie lots”. What pieces are you missing? Send me some pics if your Star Traveler. Would live to see it. Grayskullwarrior@gmail.com

It would take a bit of modification. The front wheels can't turn left or right...

I downloaded the file and emailed it to a printing company.
Will you ever sell one of these?
Probably not. Mostly because the ST isn't very cheap to buy. Also, I'm in Australia and don't think there is a big enough Barbie community here. Not to mention the cost of shipping! Haha. Plus, the cost of the bespoke printed decals and my time, wouldn't be worth it. I would certainly consider restoring them for other people though. (If someone wanted to send me their Star Traveler, I would offer my services to clean it up for them..)

@@BlakeGildaphish76 It would depend on the condition of the Star Traveler that is given to me, and what pieces it comes with. It would totally be a case by case situation. If you have one that you want restores, send me photos and we can go from there.
