Being authentically yourself can cost you all of your personal relationships but it's such a nice place to live from. No longer trying to pander to people's emotions. Just saying what the fuck you want to say.

Evita, this is gold. Guilt is exhausting, just as narcissistic fathers are. Eating up our joy.

Yes i did this too. Sleep my live away to escape !
I guess a repression mechanism because of forced responsibility and consequences were always forced upon on me and the others took no responsibility at all.
I also lost my smile when my parents remarried after decades when i was 25.

Thank you, as always, for sharing your thoughts. I've liked your style of presentation since first finding your channel. There's plenty of excellent content available that feels like a university lecture, but yours always feels like a conversation with a close friend who has some hard earned wisdom to share. If I may, it has felt that some of your most recent videoes have been particularly personal to you and your experiences, and if that is the case, then thank you too. I think sometimes the price of authenticity is also the rejection of self, at least temporarily until we are able to acknowledge and reconcile those parts that we'd rather were not there, and even if it is our desire or preference to change them. Perhaps that's something more common for men, I don't know, as so much of what we're presumed to be has the potential to be catastrophic, not just by its expression in excess, but by the mere fact of its presence. Like the Christian concept of original sin, we're born bad, with this animal in us that we must cage, It's intimidating to know we must look it in the eye and accept it for what it is, when instinct is telling us to turn and run before it eats us. I know Jung has said this already, but I feel he had a point. Thank you again, my love and best wishes as we all progress towards who we want and need to be.

Beautiful share. What you described encapsulates the inner process of accepting who we are - taking into consideration who we’ve historically been & how we can possibly, pave the way for true & meaningful change. We can indeed change, thankfully. Nothing is inherently bad about us - prior to being socialized in a world that suppressed us, indoctrinated us, rallied up us against eachother.

As a child I am still responsible for my Soul.
My Soul is responsible for my inner child.
As a child I was too vulnerable to take responsibility for my Truth.
Humans face adversity in so many ways.
Ways that contribute to our development.
We don't grow by drowning in bliss.
We grow by drowning in pain.
    Life sucks.
    The first noble truth...
    Life is suffering.
    Suffering is growth.
    Growth hurts.
    Birth hurts.
And not just us but all living/sentient beings.
Wanting a pain free life is ungrateful.
Your pain is your greatest asset.
