- If you're thinking of moving to Las Vegas, you've probably heard a lot about Summerlin... It's a great part of town and popular for a reason, but we LOVE living on the opposite side of town and here's why. Our 5 reasons why we love living in Henderson NV:
1. Parks and Trails
Henderson has SO many great parks and trails. Would you believe the city has 62 parks?! In fact, it is the city of Henderson's goal to have a park within 10 minute walk from any residence in the city. Our parks are serious business too! They have everything from dog parks, playgrounds, splash pads, sports fields and more. Many of these parks are connected by a system of trails. There really is something for everyone here.
2. Location
Living in Henderson NV is extremely convenient. While Las Vegas is a large city, it is encircled by a series of expressways and you can reach even the farthest corner of Las Vegas in 35 minutes. This Las Vegas Strip is less than 15 minutes away for most of Henderson and international hub McCarren Airport is also no more than 15 minutes away. The city is close to Lake Mead and close to the I-15 which takes you to California. In fact, the drive to the ocean is just over 4 hours.
3. Ranked on Numerous Lists for Safest City in America for Families
Henderson NV has a separate police force than Las Vegas. This allows for faster response times. Our police and firefighters are extremely involved in the community and we are very grateful for them! Forbes magazine even ranked Henderson as the safest city in America for families in 2018 & 2019.
4. Mature, green communities
Despite being in the desert, the majority of the city is extremely green! We love living in Henderson NV because the streets are lined with trees and greenery. There are a few reasons for this. One reason is the number of master-planned communities. These "master" associations care for landscaping and sidewalks which have lush landscaping and amenities such a benches and doggy poop bins :) In addition, many areas such as Green Valley have mature communities which equate to large grassy lots and wide tree-lined streets.
5. Opportunities and Events
The city of Henderson has great leadership which is focused on building the city and its community. There is a lot of work being done to revitalize the downtown area (Water Street). Many new developments are planned for downtown including live-work spaces, a new master-planned community, and more. In addition, the city hosts many free events, such as Last Friday: a once a month gathering with live music, arts, and food. There are numerous local recreation centers that offer a multitude of classes both free and paid and local libraries offer countless free enrichment activities for kids and families.

Henderson is a beautiful place to live especially the area of Seven Hills. The area is perfect for walkers and many restaurants very close by. There’s a couple of reasons why I would relocate...the heat and ZERO rain!

I just moved to Nevada from Michigan and we were torn between summerlin and henderson! We've been here 9 months and I'm so happy we didn't choose Henderson. It's too tight!!! Seems like everything is on top of each other! The city we choose reminds us very much of our hometown in Michigan (minus one thing😊). Do your research!!!!!

We guess it’s what you make of it and if you’re willing to hustle, work hard and are good at what you do then yes you should do well. One of the advantages of Living in Las Vegas/Henderson is the access to the airport. Planes (used to) fly from McCarren directly to big destinations around the world. Lui S Thank for watching!! Southern Highlands is a nice development. This is part of Las Vegas. Lots of walking trails. A lot of celebrities live in communities there. From our experience the HOA is pretty strict. Location wise - there’s a Costco on St Rose Parkway which is only 5-10 minutes from there. You also have a plethora of shopping on Eastern Avenue which is only another 10 mins away. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate. Let us know. We’d love to help in anyway.

Thank you for watching! To be honest, we don’t know much about Reno/Northern Nevada for us to do a video on it. We drove to Lake Tahoe recently and it was about a 7 hour drive. We can tell you it’s gorgeous there! But gets COLD in the winter.

Henderson is a beautiful suburb. My one and only issue is the Verizon dead zones which happen there. You’re fine in one area; then you’re waiting for an appointment at another area and you have 3g or no service.
Really? We have Verizon also and have never had any issues in Henderson. Only in some areas on the west side of the valley by Red Rock.

Yeah, I agree that Henderson is the best part of the valley and better than Summerlin which is very nice and beautiful in it's own way, but Henderson is so laid back and has a real downtown with character. To me Summerlin feels more crowded and has more traffic while Henderson is more spread out and less snooty.

It’s good you are happy there. The brutal HEAT would negate all of the good things for us!
Fair enough Craig! Having spent a lot of time in Florida we will take 115 and dry heat over 95 and 100% humidity. It’s really only super hot for a month or two. Most of us work in air conditioned offices/work spaces, drive air conditioned cars etc so we don’t find it that bad personally 😊😊
Yea I just came back from a trip to Riverside, Ca and it was 109 with 42% humidity... We were sweating like crazy. Vegas it’s 115 but with 7% humidity but there’s AC EVERYWHERE. Not the same in Cali.

Hi Michelle! Apartment rentals don’t work with Realtors so we don’t have any info on them, sorry. There are however LOTS of apartment buildings all over town so you shouldn’t have any problems finding one.

We don’t believe so. Maybe the guard gated communities have a higher level of security but a gate without a guard is really just a false send of security. Don’t get us wrong, we live in a gated community also, but it doesn’t stop anyone following in behind us.
When if you can not afford a house and want an apartment? Would you recommend Henderson, or would you recommend downtown Vegas?
The D.A.N show They are both VERY different. Downtown has a younger crowd, apartments in Henderson are going to be a mixed bag. If you like City living then downtown...If you like more suburban residential living then Henderson.

Go to Nevada. I've been in Houston for a year now. The humidity here is almost unbearable! It literally takes your breath away. It rains for days at a time. It seems like it rains everyday around 3 pm. The sky always has an overcast after about 3 pm. It looks like Ohio in the winterTraffic here is crazy! There is too many toll roads/highways. There is way too many people in Houston! There is a great variety of food though.
I am from California OC and I want to move since right now a condo here is about 500k but I need to look for a job I am in tech enterprise and wife escrow officer. Is There alot of jobs and growth opportunities out there?

Well because it was far i did not go and take look 😨 we bought the house in waite target cort the aria that two target lover people had house..! And i did not like that house at all and not that eria..😢😢😢and we are moving in October and i am packing but I don’t like that eria and my new house and still looking for house..!
Oh no! We’re sorry to hear that!! October is still a few months out. Can’t you cancel the sale and reevaluate? Maybe rent for 6-12 months first so that you can get an idea of the different areas and pick one you DO like rather than buying and living in an area you don’t?

Thanks for watching David! That’s a good idea for a video...Winter is December-February, it does feel cold due to the dryness. Spring and autumn are very similar and the best times of year in our opinion. The super hot months in Summer are really only July/august...But this year we think it was august/September...Overall, we love it!

It’s awful. To put it bluntly. Nevada has one of the worst education systems in the country. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and I would not recommend sending your children to school in Nevada in general. I would highly recommend a charter school or possibly a private school but regular public schools are awful.

Hi Hugo! Thanks for watching! We’re helping a lot of people relocate from California. We personally love it here. As for “safe”, everyone has a different definition, crime happens everywhere. Even in multi million dollar communities, but if you just look at the stats, overall it’s a terrific place to live!! We’d love to help if you have more questions 🙏🏼🏠

Lived in Henderson/Green Valley for 20 years(N Vegas now). Henderson PD keeps the rif-raf out. There is a nice mix of people. You'll be teaching your child if you care. It a desert so duh... heat. The state just went Blue so there's that, we got about ten years until we have State Income Taxes and we resemble Portland or San Francisco.

@@thethomasgrouplv Hollywood and Lake Mead area. I don't like the area but we are renting a very nice house on the cheap from the kids(who are now only 5 mins away). If I had a choice though I'd be back in Green Valley. Reasons? Everything that comes with a low income area.

@@longlifevibes8842 Yes, I'd home school. I tried to write a nice explanation of the problems the Clark County School District has but it boils down to this, the schools here are out of control. Sex, drugs, violence, I don't like saying this but you have to know.

I don’t know if things have changed since you made this video but I just moved to Henderson and it’s not as safe as you say in this video. We live in the heart green valley and there have been several shootings, a homicide, a ton of home invasions (some while people were at home) and armed robbery. We have lived here for 2 months and are looking to summerlin asap.
